Hey peeps. So I am trying to create a cursed item (which gives the lycanthropy curse) that has multiple functions but am running into some issues.
The first is for modifying (negatively) ability scores. It changes ability scores if the original is lower than the target, but when equipped, the cursed item will not lower an ability score. if the original is higher than the target. Any help on this?
Having a feat associated with the curse is not loading onto the character sheet. I am adding a feat when building the item, but when the item is equipped, the feat doesn't show on the character sheet. Any idea why?
Spells. The spell I have added is greyed out on the character sheet and is unable to be 'cast'. I have tried multiple arrangements on charges and types and nothing fixes it.

Hi-diddly-ho neighbor,
If you are using “Modifier: Set” then it will always use the higher of the two, not the actual set number. That modifier is for stuff like belts of giant strength and that’s how they work. To forcibly lower a modifier you need to use “Modifier: Bonus” and put a negative integer in the “Fixed Value” field.
Magic Items cannot add homebrew feats I believe, and they cannot offer a choice of feat. They can only add regular feats and only with attunement I believe. (At least, I have gotten a Hand Crossbow to grant the Crossbow Expert feat that way. It might not work for all feats. 🤷♂️)
If you have accidentally set the number of “Max Charges” to a high enough number that the spell could conceivably break the 9th-level ceiling then the spell Won’t work. Try simply putting 1 charge on the item and setting the Min charges and Max charges both to 1. That should at the very least establish it. What spell by the way? That may have something to do with it.

I tried it, updated on my test character and it worked! Thank you so much.

I am just trying to add the Mobile feat. I guess I will just have to get my player to manually add it. But if that's the case, then I'm curious why DnD beyond has that add option.

I had it as one and one originally. I am getting polymorph, with written notes for limited to self use. I am making a cursed orb that gives the character the Wererat lycanthropy. I would like to be able to have them cast it twice per long rest. Do you know how I can share it with you for an unbiased review for thoughts and opinions?
Can the magic item be made to ADD a bite attack? I tried both natural weapon and melee and neither allowed for that added attack option when equipped on the test character.
No, magic items cannot yet add Actions such as a bite attack, but that is planned for some point in the future. Of course, “some point” may be 2023 for all I know. 🤷♂️
To get Polymorph to work list it as Min Charges = 1, Max Charges = 1. Then make sure the magic item has 2 charges.
For Mobile, try adding it again and make sure the magic item requires Attunement. (For what it seems to do it probably should anyway.)
Whenever you add or change anything on a homebrew you must re-save it using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information. Only that will trigger the system to pick up your changes. At that point it can take up to 20 minutes (or I hear sometimes even longer) before those changes push through to a character sheet. Sometimes that time can be shortened by increasing/decreasing the character’s level to force the server to update its cache more quickly, logging out and back in can also force the server to update its cache for you.
Not everything in the homebrewer works because it isn’t really a homebrewer at all. It’s really the same system the Devs use to input the official stuff WotC publishes, they just locked some stuff behind Admin privileges which we as users don’t have. Since the Devs designed it for themselves to use, and since they know how it works because they designed it, therefore they just left some stuff there even though it doesn’t work.

Scepter of Sorcery
Rod, varies (requires attunement by a Sorcerer)
You can use this scepter as a spellcasting focus for your sorcerer spells. While holding this scepter, you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your sorcerer spells. The bonus is determined by the scepter's rarity.
In addition, this scepter holds 1 charge. While you are holding this scepter, you can use an action to expend its charge to regain up to a number of sorcery points equal to one third of your sorcerer level (rounded up). It regains its charge when you finish a Long Rest.
This scepter can be used as a Club, proficiency with a club allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any melee weapon attack you make with it.
Notes: Bonus: Spell Attacks, Bonus: Spell Save DC, uncommon (+1), rare (+2), or very rare (+3), Sorcerer, Damage, Buff, Combat, Focus

Another question if you happen to know:
