Horatio shakes his head. "I've got Gandalon, and that's about it. We'll do what we can."
Horatio mentally commands Gandalon to disengage from the enemy and to go invisible when he can, circling around and feeding scouting information on the location of the threatening gazers and/or gnothics in the room.
Perigord looks about for the nothic, though he doesn't see any signs of the creature, though given its unease at the creatures and sounds previously, you suspect it may have gone off to hide somewhere in the library until the din dies down.
The gazer cackles as it shrugs off Trinjya's spell. With that, the two gazers dash north, flying up and over the banister and down the hole. As they appear up and over the banister, Horatio lets loose a blast and hits one of the gazers, but barely leaves a mark.
(@Samael was holding an attack as well, so you can roll your attacks. @Perigord is next to the hole and so have an attack of opportunity if you wish as well. After we've resolved those attacks and what happens to the gazers, then you're all up again.)
Heyyyyy big money! In that case I'll divine smite too (I think it's RAW That you choose after the attack hits but I could be wrong, let me know if I have to pre-declare)
(OOC - @Murfle, I'm ok with that. It's a little difficult in PbP to do that sort of thing sometimes. You declared it before I resolved, so I'm ok with that. @Spark, you're about 10ft away before they drop down the hole.)
As the first gazer tries to fly past Perigord, the paladin manages to strike it squarely and combined with his divine smite he takes down the gazer before it can disappear down the hole.
As the first gazer is killed by Perigord's stab, Samael lets out a spread of flame from his fingertips engulfing the area. Perigord manages to just dodge out of the way and pats out the flames on his gear as he takes 7 fire damage, while the other gazer is unable to dodge, as it heads straight into the fire while it tries to make its escape down the hole. You hear it thump to the floor below.
A moment later you hear the unnerving, deep chuckle from the depths before the sunken library falls quiet once again.
Shouldn't the damage be 6? Half of 12 and all that? it looks like the save DC was 14, not the damage.
Perigord summons a small portion of holy hearthfire, healing himself for 5 (lay on Hands).
"I think that's all of them, unless you saw any others. As I recall an old friend saying, the catchphrase of adventuring is always leaving with more than you brought, and I think we may have delved deep enough for now- should we do some quick looting and abscond with our prizes?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Trin peeks over the banister to where Perigord and Samael are.
"Are you allright? We are lucky that these damned creatures are better at running than fighting." Let's make sure we pick up everything of value up here and then let's get out of here."
Trinjya will slowly make her way to the eastern platform (the one we did not jet investigate) and looks for anything of value.
Shouldn't the damage be 6? Half of 12 and all that? it looks like the save DC was 14, not the damage.
(OOC - sorry, had 14 in my head, yes 6 damage.)
As Trinjya searches the other side, she finds another couple of potion bottles. One is a potion of healing, the other is labelled "Potion of Psychic Resistance".
The nothic you find as it comes out to see what has happened now the din has died down and the library is quiet. It nods, though you're not entirely sure if it fully comprehended you.
"the deed is done." samael drags a carcass of a gazer to the nothic to show proof, and writes the previous statement and the next. "but venture not below. the gazers have a master beholder, and he has made his hovel in the levels below us."

(OOC - out of initiative now. What do you do?)
(can I hit the bugger with my thunder attack to ensure it's dead? or is it actually ooc dead?)

"maybe, and let's take the corpses of the gazers with us, to show the nothics the deed is done. warn them that below them, a beholder dwells."
