Milos appears suddenly from behind and takes half the group in his arms: "Oh my friends, you have made quite the impression! Beating Gerald in a straight battle, paying for the Cat vendor's children to eat for a whole month, and getting the gold service from the Enigma. Fine guests indeed!"
He twirls away from you to stand in your way, revealing a piece of Sila's corny pop in his hand which he drops into his mouth with a wink.
"Although we are starting to wind down, there is still time to visit an amusement or two if you still wish. Does anyone have anything to ask of my enigmatic friend in the tent?"
“Only if they knew how sausages were made.” Gruenic grins. “I get my wisdom and answers from our lady in silver, Selune. Sometimes (rarely), she speaks to me in my sleep. Would you like me to tell you about her?” He looks out to the crowd. “I could tell your congregation about her, if you have a podium. If they would be willing to hear.” Gruenic looks to spread the word of Selune whenever he can.
“But right now we are going for our sausages.”
He turns to Bree and says in a low voice, hushed “You could ask him, How many ears do I have in this bag? And see if he can tell you. That would be a test!”
Bree walks along with the rest of the party, dancing to whatever music is playing and enjoying the Corny Pops. When Gruenic suggests visiting the Enigma she says to Gruenic: "Mwah. I have no need to visit the Enigma. I dabble in that kind of magic myself, but other than that I like to be surprised by whatever adventures I encounter. Besides, I wouldn't want to accidentally find out they are a fraud or something and rain on Lucy's parade. She seems happy with whatever they told her."
"You guys had a lot of fun, I guess…" Lucy picks a handful of snacks from Garavant. "It's…nice. Really nice. I will buy some for myself"
The elf maiden looks back to the flood of lights, sounds and smells as Milos urges them to participate in more entertainment. When she was a little girl, Lucy always wondered what a real carnival looked like. Her mother never allowed her to leave home, because she was much more angry and wild than now. Her little sister pitied her, tried to share the wonders and joys of carnival whenever she came from one. Now living in her childhood dream as a full grown adult, Lucy finds she doesn't know what to do. Feeling alone and helpless like a child who lost their way home. "Thanks, human. I am good. All I need now is the sausages that our half orc will buy for us. By the way I have never seen so many fey creatures in human land. Where did they come from?"
>>Bree and others
" Enigma gave me interesting information. They said that the old ruin we visited is… just as we expected. But for our goal, we must go deep." Lucy tosses another pop corn in her mouth. "Their words sound confident. And if it's a fraud, so what? We are going to go down the cave anyway. And I will come back and enjoy demanding the refund in my way" Crashes the snack between her sharp teeth.
Sila looks at Lucy, "You know, I think I will try the Enigma. I'm not sure what to ask, but maybe hear what they have to say. I was going to purchase some sausage for Artemis as she seems very interested. Please do for me? I will see what they have to say." She passes several silver over to Lucy, pressing it into her hand resisting any refusal and rushes off to the tent. Passing her Corny Pops to Bree. "Please help yourself.
The party reach the sausage vendor as Sila arrives at the Enigma's tent.
The sausage vendor is a heavy-set man in a white coat and hat perched on top of wild curly red hair. He hands over your individual choices with a big smile - curved and herbed, straight and spicy, thin and speckled with chunks of sweet fruit. All are absolutely incredible, challenging or besting the favoured butcher of your homeland, and each costs just 5 copper pieces.

Sila enters the Enigma's tent and finds them sat motionless, hands flat on the table before them. As Sila takes a seat, the Enigma smiles without emotion and says "Welcome traveler, do you wish for the silver service to learn about yourself, or gold for the Commune?"
Sila enters courteously and sits before the Enigma. "Silver please as I can't think of a question to ask." She says passing a silver piece across the table.
To Lucy "Just don't want to see you go on a rampage for something that is clearly so dear to you Lucy. But yes, we would explore anyway."
Seeing how Sila took the rest of the activities on the carnaval Bree will wait outside the tent of the Enigma just to be sure Sila doesn't have a meltdown when she comes out. Taking two of the sausages with fruit. When Sila comes out she will say: "So, what did they say? Brought you a sausage with fruit, it's delicious!"
((Gruenic was buying right (Bree wouldn't mind paying herself, but it would be a pity to pay double ;P)))
Gruenic takes a curved and herbed sausage and says to Bree “I’m buying.” and pays for the fruit filled (“Sacrilege!” He says) sausage. It is indeed delicious. Gruenic is ready to give the sausage to whoever wants or needs it.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The Enigma nods almost imperceptibly as Sila’s coin drops into the pot. They close their eyes, take a deep breath and then hold it...
When they open their eyes again they are completely black, almost surprised-looking. The faintest of smiles teases at the corner of their mouth, the first sign of any emotion so far, as they begin to talk: “Yes, your soul is well-travelled even though this body is so new. I see, I see... A small gnome creeping around in ice and snow with two giants and two men of magic; she will find her place in the world and become a legend…another gnome, searching an ancient fortress for an apple; she will find her way to the land of ice and defeat a god...and a druid who accompanies large cats; that path is unclear to me”
The Enigma cocks their head slightly, seemingly amused or pleased by such a wealth of insight.
“As for this current journey, your soul’s path here will involve mountains. First, below them...and then above”
They close their eyes again, and when they reopen they are back to cold grey irises set in white sclera.
“Our reading is complete”
Sila leaves the tent as Garavant enters, gold coin in hand.
The rogue places his money in the pot on the table and the Enigma stares back at him across the table: "Greetings. To what question do you seek the answer?”
Garavant nods at Sila as she exits. His face is stern, its usual lightness gone.
He pays his coin and sits, taking a deep breath as he stares across the table at the medium. After a time, he speaks: "I seek vengeance on those who wronged me and my family, and the only way I really know to get most anything is to buy it or to steal it. Will I find great treasure in the dwarven ruins? Enough to hire a small mercenary company?"
Sila nods to Garavant and notes his unusually somber expression, and says no more hoping he finds the answers he seeks within. She leaves the tent puzzled and curious, looking at the others and says, "There is an odd sort of truth to what they say, though I don't know why I believe it. It's as if they saw past me to others connected somehow to me. I don't know if it was in former lives, but I don't think so. As if something guided us all. I suspected, but it's never felt to real before."
She thanks Bree for the sausage absent-mindedly. "This is perfect. Just what I would have chosen. You have good taste." Coming back slowly from her thoughts to collect the sausage. She looks around for Artemis, intending to share some of it with the owl if she hasn't acquired her own, but staying with the others waiting for Garavant.
Lucy wants to reject the silver pieces. Before she can utter a word, Sila disappears into the tent. The elf girl murmurs and complains, but in the end she accepts the money.
>>Bree
"Who do you think I am? A barbarian burns down an inn because they aren't satisfied it's service?" Lucy frowns at the halfling wizard. "I have only burned down an inn once. And that's because it was a den of thieves who drugged and robbed unlucky travelers! Also their foods and drinks were the worst. Innkeeper was filthy and didn't know how to make bed!"
The elf wizard leaves the group and sets off to buy corny pops. She gets five bags of the snacks. One for herself and four for her friends and owl. Also Lucy looks for something to drink. These salty foods will definitely make the adventurers thirsty.
Bree looks a bit flustered by Lucy's reply. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend.. It's just that... You know... You sometimes get a bit ..intense when something doesn't goes according to plan." She is clearly genuinely sorry for any offense. "Well look at me, silly Bree insulting her friends."
She will walk away a bit sullenly and come back with a smile and drinks for everyone: "Well, let's have a last drink here and continue on when Garavant gets back. We have ruins to explore!"
Artemis accepts the piece offered by Sila, taking it up to the roof of a tent to eat it in peace.
Inside the Enigma’s tent, the androgynous figure stares back at Garavant. They wait an age after hearing his question before finally opening their mouth to speak: “Your friend also led me to break my rule and give more than one word in reply. In the ruins you will find what is needed to avenge the Marsh Hawk’s uncle. But it is not wealth, although you will surely find that too”
They lower their head slightly and close their eyes, indicating that your reading is over.
Back outside, as you all stand enjoying your food and the carnival atmosphere, you notice that the crowd is starting to thin out. Milos jogs past, half dancing and half floating as he says "Lamentably my friends, we are due to close soon. Please travel safely and be sure to tell all your friends about Empresario's!"
Gruenic nods at Milos. "Take care Milos. Safe travels, Selune watch over you. Watch out for orcs on the prowl around here. Maybe your wrestler can protect you guys. Maybe." He grins at him and gives him a wink, starts to head on back to the road. "Now, if you aren't all too stuffed with sausage and suffering from meat belly, let's hit the road. Everyone ready?"
Garavant looks slightly more upbeat when he emerges from his conversation with the Enigma, but he does appear a little puzzled.
As the group begins to get ready to move out, he looks to those who saw the medium. "Who or whatever that is, the Enigma certainly seems to know some things it really has no business knowing, eh?"
He looks down at the magic rapier at his side for a moment, then shakes his head. "Well I suppose we should be on our way," he finally says with a smile.
At the last moment Bree changes her mind and rushes to the tent with the Enigma. She puts down a gold and a silver and asks: "How many ears do I have in my ear pouch? And while I'm here, let's do the silver service as well!"
((OOC: I feel a bit bad for not keeping track of the number of orcs we killed/ears we cut off 🙈 maybe if Bree pays a gold the DM magically knows? 😇 (if you don't have an easy list I will go through the posts and make a tally and the enigma can give some mysterious answer) ))
