There are no tracks to follow but a path can clearly be seen coming and/or going from the cave as the ground has been worn down slightly from frequent use.
There are also faint, dull unrecognizable sounds coming from deep within the cave.
(If you proceed, please state your marching order and whether it's single file or not.)

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Also, while we advance, let's try and follow the well worn path and footsteps. If there are any traps, whoever survived often enough to wear footsteps into the stone presume knew where *not* to walk
((Bow also agrees on the marching order; unless tracking of fey, fiends, or undead than he will be upfront^^))

Irraxan spots some silhouettes on the wall ahead where the cave elbows, appears to be two creatures with tentacles. He wants to know what to do as you only gave orders to scout.

Z ask Irraxan to stop where he is and to keep an eye on the silhouettes. He quietly calls for the party to stop and warns them of the danger ahead. "Tentacled creatures ahead! Perhaps an octopus, kraken, or something else with tentacles. I doubt there is much point in trying to talk to or reason with it. Should we try to surprise it and attack?"
Irraxan reports they're just moving about so far and they're not coming this way. By the interplay of the shadows he can tell they're bigger than the party.

Irraxan is about 30 feet ahead of the party. The creatures are about 30 feet ahead of him around the elbow.
He doesn't hear any splashing or sloshing so guesses there might not be water. But he does hear way more footfalls than what two creatures should account for.

Zenodor also uses his ability to directly see through his familiar's eyes. Just in case that makes a difference.
Also, Zenodor has an idea: He could cast "Darkness" on himself or Irraxan. Presumably monsters or people cannot easily tell (normal) darkness from magical darkness at a distance so would not notice. We could then first more Z&I and then the entire party into the bend, covered in darkness (Z and Irraxan can both see in magical darkness, so can lead the party). Z and Irraxan can observe whatever is around the corner, and then make a decision on how to proceed. If the whole party is there and ready, if necessary we can do a surprise charge out of the darkness (which can be dismissed if necessary) at whoever/whatever is on the other side.
Zenodor sees the same things Irraxan saw. Only 2 shadows are playing against the wall and they each have tentacles.
Zenodor hears the same things Irraxan heard. Way more footfalls than what you think 2 creatures should make.
If 2 or more other party members agree to the darkness/surprise plan I'll proceed with the encounter. It's also perfectly fine if someone wants to add or change some part of it, in which case I'll wait until everyone can post or have a say.

I'm fine with the plan, although I won't be able to see in the darkness so will stand still in it until it is dropped so I have a clear view again.

Tempe has a look sadness as he quietly suggests "If you do this darkness on your familiar I can send my spirit to see what kind of danger these creatures really are but your familiar will have to watch far enough away to see what happens. And so mine can see."
”Scout ahead in darkness if you like. I am better suited to the light and ill-suited to stealth in any case. I will stay back at the tunnel opening,” responds Randall, glowing mace in hand.

Are you planning on having your wildfire spirit go ahead of the darkness?
If so, trying to be stealthy?
Or openly entering by itself?
(Details of final plan necessary before continuing as I won't be doing any retcon if something is forgotten or left out.)

I would suggest we advance in the following marching order:
Irraxan ahead of the party as a scout. Using invisibility and ability to see im the dark.
Randall upfront (Cleric, armoured)
Then magic users: zenodor, petcan (side-by-side)
Bow and Ignis at the back (Archer and Monk. Can rapidly move to front of necessary)
Any comments? Or better ideas?
Also, while we advance, let's try and follow the well worn path and footsteps. If there are any traps, whoever survived often enough to wear footsteps into the stone presume knew where *not* to walk
OOC: Randall is good with the marching order as suggested.

Tempe looks at Z whispering "Can you see what they are in you're familiars senses? I am doubting such creatures of the deep would be above water."
