Numbers will overwhelm eventually without something to scare those in the back. So we need to slow them down inside, and scare them off outside."
"The city's militia already did several successful sorties against the siege machinery of the Goblins. Would they not be expected to similarly succeed in destroying the tunnels here?"
"If we could destroy all but one tunnel. We would have a good choke point for them and I do have a spell you've seen before that would take care of such evil creatures as long as no one friendly to us and us walks into it."
He think upon things "Has anyone ever captured one to find out more? Maybe experiment to see how to break the influence on them. Wisdom would have that without this influence they would go back to their chaotic lives. With no order."

"A sound idea, but I fear the lesser Goblins simply do what their clan or group leaders tell them to do. We would likely need to capture one of their local leaders to be able to get more useful information from them. Perhaps that should be our immediate objective"

When done with dinner and talking Pepin will spend an hour or two tinkering on the various metal objects. For now he is mostly focusing his interest on the once with intricate designs. He uses his all-purpose tool, the cantrip mending and the spell identify throughout to see if he can figure out what the objects are meant to do, or if they are just ordinary metal objects.

Unfortunately there is no instruction manual with these assorted pieces but the Gnome responsible for their creation made them so that they can be combined in a variety of ways. In just trying to figure them out and what exactly their purpose might be you stumble upon an odd configuration of some pieces. If you arrange 2 of the smaller pipes and 2 of the longer pipes so they act as legs, although they will have to be rested on a slanted surface, when a particular rectangle piece is placed on top it serves as a heating surface. Essentially you can warm food and beverages without a fire in some sort of semi-magical way.

Irraxan presumably is still flying around the Goblin's camp, invisibily, so before resting for the night, Z will use the familiar's senses for a while so that he can get a feel for the Goblins, their camp, and perhaps even their routines (the latter would be particularly useful if we end up infiltrating one)
There appear to be more goblins active at night than during the day. And their overall energy is up and more active during the night (drinking, dicing, and all sort of debauchery).
The morning meeting is actually with an adjutant to General Teschar, one Colonel Planders. He is accompanied by a detachment of soldiers. "I understand you have information that could prove important to our cause. Once I have determined how relevant I will inform the General and see what he makes of it."

Although somewhat disappointed that the group are fobbed off to a lower functionary, Z tries to remain as polite as possible. "We thank you for your time. We have gathered important information on the Goblins' strategy. They intend to tunnel into the Sewers to bypass the city's fortifications!" Z goes on to explain all the details they know, and explain as well as possible using the maps etc.
Once the Adjutant has understood the situation and urgency, Z will also ask if there is anything in particular which a small strikeforce [party of adventurers] may be suited to help with?
”I will bring the holy light of Lathander against the foe, a searing radiance to the goblins and a soothing balm to our allies,” says Randall, attempting to upon the functionary their potential usefulness.

Tempe nods to Colonel Planders "If we can somehow collapse or block parts of the tunnels in the sewers to funnel them into one passage. I have a spell called spike growth. I would draw a line where none of our people should pass for 40 feet beyond none can walk without harm. The spikes wont be seen. But we'll need a map of the sewers."
Petcan gauges the functionary. He's discerning if this might be a person with a lackadaisical attitude who sees us small, unimportant people, or if this is a well oiled machine.

As you pray you slip into a light daydream where you are having a conversation with a higher ranked member of your church. In the daydream you are younger looking and the talk suddenly turns to the nature of different creatures. It quickly lands on goblins and suggests it is not usually in their nature to do what they are currently doing outside Laurentiis. If however, a singular leader was powerful enough they could command hundreds or even thousands of goblins. Such tyrants are not always goblins but the goblins will follow, organize, and obey under a powerful enough individual regardless.
