Tempe forks over the 500gp (Belt already added) while he is doing sod he also pays for the staff if its the same price then he asks "I heard of an amazing item called a clockwork amulet do you have any?" said with tilted head as he tries on the sash.
Some of the pieces look like they can easily fit together, others might take a little more tinkering. Whenever you want to spend a couple of downtime hours and work on 'something' make a relevant skill roll (or tool roll) and depending on whether the roll succeeds and by how much... I'll let you know what happens(?)
@Randall
You don't use up all your resources but there are a few cases that require some, and everyone there is appreciative of your efforts.
@Zenodor
Getting your hands on some maps of the city and countryside is not a big issue, the map of the sewers takes going through a little more red tape. A few meetings and filling out/signing some extra paperwork to prove you're not up to no good is all it takes.
@Tempe
Bricklepop takes hold of a chain around his own neck, one of many, and extracts your clockwork amulet from beneath his vest and shirt. "That will be 50 gold more."

It resembles a divining rod but you notice he's holding it wrong way around until you determine that if he uses 2 lines, hooks, and bait he will probably either catch 2 fish at a time or at the very least double his chances.

Once back at the Inn for the night, Z will study the various maps and consider the information gained through Itraxan to try to make an educated guess as to where the Goblins' tunnels may lead to, and where they would meet the Sewers.
"I believe I understand the plan, but I'd like to know where you'd get the most from my assistance: in the sewers to deny them a way forward or at the back end to smash them against our defenses?"
"I believe I understand the plan, but I'd like to know where you'd get the most from my assistance: in the sewers to deny them a way forward or at the back end to smash them against our defenses?"
"A good question. I believe going for the far end of the tunnels is more dangerous. There will be hundreds, perhaps thousands of Goblins there and we would be surrounded. However, if we could strike swiftly to collapse the tunnel entrance and then escape, this would deal them a mighty blow. Going into the sewers would be safer and easier - if we know where they are coming in from, we can create traps and set up an ambush. And in the narrow confines of a tunnel, they cannot being their overwhelming numbers to bear, but must face us a few at a time.
We should discuss the options with the General tomorrow. What are your thoughts?"
"In my opinion we should first focus on protecting the city, so help the guards/army fight in the sewers before we head into the goblin camp and see if we can take out the leaders."

"I think I've yet to meet a goblin that could stand up to a fireball, and in the confines of a sewer, they'll be like fish in a barrel. It's too many entrances to cover at once, though. Numbers will overwhelm eventually without something to scare those in the back. So we need to slow them down inside, and scare them off outside."
"The city's militia already did several successful sorties against the siege machinery of the Goblins. Would they not be expected to similarly succeed in destroying the tunnels here?"
"If we could destroy all but one tunnel. We would have a good choke point for them and I do have a spell you've seen before that would take care of such evil creatures as long as no one friendly to us and us walks into it."
He think upon things "Has anyone ever captured one to find out more? Maybe experiment to see how to break the influence on them. Wisdom would have that without this influence they would go back to their chaotic lives. With no order."

"A sound idea, but I fear the lesser Goblins simply do what their clan or group leaders tell them to do. We would likely need to capture one of their local leaders to be able to get more useful information from them. Perhaps that should be our immediate objective"

Pepin enjoys the meal and thanks the server and cooks when done. While talking with the other
"That sounds like a plan, but before making any final decisions let's hear what the commander has to say in the morning. It is at least clear that something needs to be done, but at least we know what they are upto."
When done with dinner and talking Pepin will spend an hour or two tinkering on the various metal objects. For now he is mostly focusing his interest on the once with intricate designs. He uses his all-purpose tool, the cantrip mending and the spell identify throughout to see if he can figure out what the objects are meant to do, or if they are just ordinary metal objects.
14+3 due to Artisan's intuition.

Unfortunately there is no instruction manual with these assorted pieces but the Gnome responsible for their creation made them so that they can be combined in a variety of ways. In just trying to figure them out and what exactly their purpose might be you stumble upon an odd configuration of some pieces. If you arrange 2 of the smaller pipes and 2 of the longer pipes so they act as legs, although they will have to be rested on a slanted surface, when a particular rectangle piece is placed on top it serves as a heating surface. Essentially you can warm food and beverages without a fire in some sort of semi-magical way.

Irraxan presumably is still flying around the Goblin's camp, invisibily, so before resting for the night, Z will use the familiar's senses for a while so that he can get a feel for the Goblins, their camp, and perhaps even their routines (the latter would be particularly useful if we end up infiltrating one)
