Cass looks at Ceesh. “Ceesh is the idea Otter. Hit don’t make me no never mind. I think we can keep em in mind and come back later if we decide to do something wit em. Thanks fer showin yer wares.” She’s ready to head back to the ships.
Terrald looks rather disappointed, but shrugs as you all leave the store and head back to the boat.
Back on the boat, you prepare for the rest of your journey.

Robin settles back into the boat ride. She removes her half plate and, when not helping with some task or another, is often laying on a bedroll on the deck itself, soaking up the sun. Her new dagger and the large dragonscale book are never away from her side though.
The frog girl spends time enjoying the scenery and meditating. Every day she crawls down a rope or the anchor chain to revitalize her skin in the water.

After a relaxing and uneventful 12 days drifting up the Lamason River, you notice the stream begin to widen. Soon enough, you find yourself in a huge lake, bordered on the far end by a mountain range with a dam at the top. On the side of the dam, you see a towering lock system, the only way for a ship to cross the dam. The lake itself is full of ships of all descriptions floating about waiting for their turn in the lock, coming in and out from the trading post at the foot of the mountains. Atop the dam, you see a guard tower and the lock control building, both marked with Otteran heraldry. No ship passes this dam without the knowledge and permission of these guards. The guards have doubtless been informed of the runaway Crimson warship, as patrol boats scour the lake for any trace of the Crimson ship, which must be somewhere in this lake.
Sailors, what is your plan?

“Birdie” looks out at the lake and then to everyone else as the bird of inspiration lands on his shoulder way too late. (We’ll blame it on his 8 intelligence) The thought crosses his mind.
Those trawler nets coulda come in real handy for fishin’ an underwater ship …

"I can change my familiar into an otter, or octopus, and send them down to scout the waters below." Robin mentions from her place lounging on the aft deck.
Your familiar can scour the waters as an octopus (otters/weasels don't count as animals in this world), but it'll take an afternoon to search the whole lake. If you want to go ahead with the search, roll Perception for your familiar. Remember the telepathic link only extends to 100 feet, so you must either follow the familiar in the boat, or figure out a way for the familiar to report its findings another way.

"As long as we follow it, then it can simply speak telepathicly to me." Robin says with a shrug. She sits up, adjusting her tunic as she does so. "I'll start the ritual to change my owl into an octapus, which will take me about an hour to do."
(Ok, I'm just going to assume the captains are willing to follow through with Robin's ideas.) Go ahead and send out your familiar.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Robin settles, wearing her tunic and with her dragonscale book in her lap, as she sets a brass bowl in front of her. she places coal, incense, and herbs into the bowl and uses her magic to light them. Her owl flies down as she starts the ritual, and, as the ritual is going on, steps into the flames. The owl vanishes, and the flames rise up higher. She is at this for an hour. When done the flames vanish suddenly, and a fleshly octopus slaps down onto the deck of the ship.
"Sorry friend." Robin says, getting to her feet quickly and picking up the octopus. She moves quickly to the side of the ship and drops the water creature over the side. Once done she steps back to her ritual spot and cleans up her tools. Only then does she turn to the captains.
"There we go, I'll have to direct you as to which direction to go, but we can start searching whenever it works for you."
Octopus don't seem to have very good perception, just as an FYI... Perception for octopus: 21
Likely will use Robin's own perceptions most of the time, with the others on the ship knowing to tap her shoulder if they wish to speak with her directly. Robin's perception, through octopus: 21

(welp..attempt no.3 of typing this without crashing my computer)
(19 Perception... well this makes things considerably easier for you)
After 12 hours of searching, Robin's octopus discovers the outline of a ship's hull in the murky floor of the lake. Upon closer inspection, it is revealed to be the escaped Crimson warship from your battle at the port a month ago. Surrounding the ship is a dome-like web of chains and floating spiked metal balls, forming a protective sphere around the vessel. Judging from the algae on the whole setup, it has been at this spot for at least a week or two. There is light coming from the porthole. It seems that the warship was unable to sneak through the well-guarded lock, and has decided to wait here until they can find some workaround.
