Merah's eye twitches at the thought of 'meeting evil head on'. Not now, thank you very much. She presses her hand a little harder against her injury and heaves a sigh. "Right, okay, but they're not here anymore?" she tries. She looks around. "Looks like no one's been here for a while. Think we can rest here, or should we keep explorin'?"
Val turns towards Merah, noticing her injuries for the first time and feeling his own fully. Sighing, he nods his head. 'You're right, of course. We need a breather before plunging head first into danger.' Looking about the charred ruin of the room, the Dragonborn continues 'Perhaps we should fine a more hospitable place to set up camp? For that matter, we should check to make sure there's nothing lurking in the other buildings here to surprise us in our repose'
(Earlier, Ricster checked for anything that might be lying in wait. While there may be more to discover in those houses, there are no actively aggressive forces in this area. You may safely rest in this temple before continuing.)
Satisfied that the temple and surround buildings harbor no immediate threat, Val sets about making camp for the night and setting a watch, volunteering to take the dreaded mid watch for his comrades.
Merah gives the others a little thumbs up before settling into a place where she can keep an eye on the door. She lets out a sigh as she sits, her head thunking back against one of the benches. "First watch is mine, then."
Aside from the blaze, the origin of which still eludes the group, the sleepy village remained so throughout your watch.
Your eyes catch the falling lines of tiny spider's webs attempting to stretch out from the trees onto the houses. Most just miss before falling to the floor below. While, initially, possibly sinister, after all most spider's won't just shoot randomly from trees at houses, you have a sense that the wildlife around here has simply become quiet comfortable exposing itself in the isolation.
You can imagine yourself as an invisible, scentless, hunter, coming upon a heard of great deer drinking from a lake.
If you made them aware of your presence, you have a feeling they would stop, yet because you are unknown to them they continue.
Onward and over the spider's silk falls, over and over again. One string reaches a house, but it disconnects when its inhabitant attempts to cross, the weight too much for the web's light grasp. Another makes a firmer connection but its maker too is spirited away, this time by a flying creature halfway across.
Its amazing what you can see in the dark of the night by the moon's silver glow.
Fighting back yawns most of her watch, Merah tries her best to stay alert. Finally, the watch is over, and she can reasonably wake Val. She does so carefully, not sure of how he reacts to someone waking him. A nudge of her boot to his, a light kick. "Your watch," she mutters before crawling into her own bed roll. She waits just long enough to make sure he's actually awake and moving before rolling onto her stomach and falling asleep.
Your watch begins where Merah's ended. In the calm silence of Forest air you are able to see some of the spiders' antics as she did. For moments you watch dozens of the little creatures try to cast their webs upon the nearby houses from the trees.
You are, however, a little more attentative, and while she spent the hours watching them repeatedly try and fail, you are able to ponder the movements of clouds, the placement of the moon, the moisture in the air.
Tomorrow, it will probably rain again, or, at the very least, it will be very cloudy.
You also notice that the rocks in the cart are mined ore. You know this because they don't have the slate grey appearance of road stones, nor the chisel worthy glasslike surface of marble. Instead, they are small and medium sized fragments, each with its own section of a brilliant rainbow of colors representing the many types of common metals such as copper and iron.
As the stars makes their slow progression through the night's sky, Val keeps his watch. Sitting in the dark, with his back to the fire he contemplates what went wrong during their adventure at the temple. He wonders what else he could have done but confront the evil where it stood, to face the enemy head on and bring them to righteousness.
As the night begins it's eventual turn towards dawn, Val wakes Ricster up to stand the last few hours watch before the party faces another days adventure.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ricster gets up and picks up his bedroll then find a corner a bit far away from the fire. He plays with dagger while paying attention to his surrounding.
The spiders that filled Merah and Val's watch seemed to have grown tired by yours and have settled in for the return of the dawn. In the hours between then and there, you don't witness much beyond the shifting of clouds overhead and the slightly increase in moisture. A few more hours, and what could have been a sun filled morning seems more like the prelude to a long day of drizzling rain and fog.
At the very end of your watch, maybe the last 30 minutes or so, the day makes good on this unsaid promise and covers the village in a misty haze.
Val wakes with the earliest lights of the dawn, carefully stretching himself against the stiffness of the previous day's injuries. A through check of his arms and armor, ritualistic in it's precision, including rhythmic mutterings of what sounded like something between a chant and a prayer, followed by a rigorous series of exercises and then finally, a bit of cold rations from his back.
So prepared, he turns to his companions 'And so we are graced with another dawn and another day to fill with deeds and glory. Where should we begin?'
Ricster gets out from the shadow and stretches himself a bit. "We should start by making sense of what happened to this place... where are the people?"
'Shadowy, sharp edged creatures of some sort, the vision was brief and confusing, but they were evil, evil that needs to be met head on.'

(awesome, all for a long rest!)

As could be expected from such a dismal sunrise, the dawn is mostly just a grey haze.
The thick cloud that now envelops the town had evolved from an early morning mist into a well settled fog.
Ricster gets out from the shadow and stretches himself a bit. "We should start by making sense of what happened to this place... where are the people?"
