Thunderfist pulled a handful of cake out of his pocket he'd takenfrom the windmill lady and shoveled it into his mouth, although he'd rolled onto it in his sleep and it was more of a mess of sponge and icing.
You head into Neverwinter Wood, the famed forest that stretches dozens of miles in every direction. Birds sing loudly in the trees, competing for each other’s food and/or attention. The rustling of leaves and branches all around could be either spooked creatures, prowling predators or tricks of the wind and your own imaginations.
The verdant greens and browns of the forest are occasionally interrupted by ostentatious blues, pinks and yellows of flowers and insects to create a picturesque setting for your journey worthy of any fable.
Cackie adapts well to the change in environment and keeps you on track for the first few miles. Lei-Tana scans the trees and spots no danger, while Thunderfist engrosses himself in cake. Elfa marshalls Vincent with an expert hand and a few whispers that sound like low grunts but which the burly ox seems to actually understand.
At some point after lunch, Cackie slows the pace as he struggles to translate the mass of green on his map into the undulating floor, crisscrossing rivers and sudden rocky patches of the forest. Lei-Tana's head nods forward a few times as the rhythmic bouncing of the cart threatens to put her to sleep, but luckily Thunderfist is on a sugar buzz and his patrols of the travel route are both fast and far-reaching; he even manages to spot a wolf pack for the group to avoid. Elfa even manages to get Vincent to ‘shake hands’ during a short break; although she cannot understand the ox’s own grunts, he is clearly happy with his new companions and amused by whatever she is saying to him.
The last leg of the journey is well underway although it seems that you got turned around at some point and may have to spend a second night in the forest before you reach the camp. You are starting to realise this when Lei-Tana calls for you all to stop suddenly: About sixty feet ahead of you, a wild boar stands in a small clearing.
The boar stares at the proffered cakes impassively, snorting.
Elfa and Lei-Tana both get the sense that the boar is not acting naturally – it does not appear to be aggressive or frightened. As a wild beast it would normally be expected to be one or the other when confronted with people.
Thunderfist stares at the boar, cake crumbs dropping from his mouth. It seems remarkably well-kempt for a wild boar; there had been plenty of packs near his tribal homeland, and they all looked like matted dogs.
The boar is very well kept, although bears no sign of being a pet or property - no tags, markings or jewelry. As you stoop to offer it some water, the boar turns and heads off into the forest.
You stand in the clearing, ready to continue on your way.
As you go running after the boar it seems able to get a good distance and disappears from sight. Thunderfist and Cackie lose the trail but Lei-Tana's keen senses manage to keep the group heading in the right direction.
After a few minutes of pursuing the beast through the forest you come to another clearing. There, stood in the center of the grassy patch, is a female half-orc wearing hide armour and with crude claws strapped to her hands that look like...tusks?
Panting as if she has just been running, she growls in common "What do you people want? Let me go in peace or you'll regret it"

The boar glares at you suspiciously.
Cackie takes a knee, holding a slice of carrot cake in one hand, he offers it infront of him, gesturing to the boar, confident he can befriend it.
Lei-Tana jumps down from the cart and gestures in the direction of the boar
"Be careful Cackie... we don't know what it's thinking...."

The boar stares at the proffered cakes impassively, snorting.
Elfa and Lei-Tana both get the sense that the boar is not acting naturally – it does not appear to be aggressive or frightened. As a wild beast it would normally be expected to be one or the other when confronted with people.
Thunderfist shovels another handful of cake into his mouth, whilst inspecting the boar.

Thunderfist stares at the boar, cake crumbs dropping from his mouth. It seems remarkably well-kempt for a wild boar; there had been plenty of packs near his tribal homeland, and they all looked like matted dogs.
The boar continues to stare back at you all.
"I wonder if we can simply walk around him?"
Lei-Tana starts to circle around the boar...

Elfa goes over to the Boar to give him a stroke and see if he wants any water.
"Diplomat, you just stay behind just in case he sees you as a threat"
It is well kept? maybe it's someone's pet and there is a village near
The boar is very well kept, although bears no sign of being a pet or property - no tags, markings or jewelry. As you stoop to offer it some water, the boar turns and heads off into the forest.
You stand in the clearing, ready to continue on your way.
"Who was that hairy guy? Did anyone speak to him?" Cackie points the party in the direction that the boar went.
Hmmmmm let's follow him everyone!!!
Thunderfist could see the party getting sidetracked so began to throw chunks of cake on the ground to act as a trail back to the main road.
The boar notices you following and starts to run off; please make a Survival or Perception roll to follow it (if you wish to do so)

Thunderfist began sprinting after the boar, tossing cake left and right to drop weight.
As you go running after the boar it seems able to get a good distance and disappears from sight. Thunderfist and Cackie lose the trail but Lei-Tana's keen senses manage to keep the group heading in the right direction.
