The rider reaches his hand up and rubs his chin for a moment, "15 gold it is, go ahead and put that in a pouch for me there and you can be on your way"
The Zhent rider catches the bag and throws it to the foot soldiers, "Count it" he then looks back to Vohana and gives her a deep grin, his teeth show sign of extreme ware as they are a deeply stained yellow and rotting in some places. Once the foot soldier finishes counting he nods to the rider and tucks the bag away in a pack. "Well folks, looks like our business is wrapping up here. I gotta say, it's been real nice seeing folks so willing to part with their gold so easily." He leans down towards Vohana, "The last set of people met Beatrice, and man they did not like each other" he sits back on his horse and puts his hand on his longsword. "Lets go boys!"
The Zhent rider grabs the reigns and begins leading his horse down the road to the south leaving the group to continue north, a few moments later however he stops and calls back, "Wait a minute!" he turns his horse and rides back to the group, "You know, I'm so absent minded sometimes, I gotta ask, you weren't really heading north looking for that pesky rebellion were ya?" His eyes stare intently at the group.
"I bet you do" The Zhent rider clicks his tongue, and then pulls the reigns of his horse again and begins trotting away, he says nothing more, the foot soldiers fall in line behind him and then continue south on the trail; the party is left standing in the road alone once more.
Vohana sat back into the cart, shaking and breathing hard. She felt as if she had just had a brush with death, and barely made it out alive. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, then said, "Get us out of here. Slowly, don't panic, and don't draw their attention back to us. We're lucky to be leaving this short a few gold. That could have gone much worse." She closed her eyes, and whispered, "Almost did go much worse."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"They ain't more'n dirty, murderin', no good, smelly, thievin' pirates. They just gonna kill the next lot. Let me shoot some lightnin' into the back o' 'is filthy, fat head. Do the world a favor. How we supposed ta save tha' guy if we can' even save our own gold. I say we march back down the road 'n' get our money 'n' our dangly bits back!"
Ruvenel ends his rant with an exasperated sigh. Persuade: 13.
"'ave yer bird track 'em until we can get the drop on 'em."
"Trust me," Vohana said, after a few more deep breaths. "These are not enemies we want to make. Not here, not now. These are the people we're going to be fighting against, and we can't afford to get in trouble with them yet. We need to be able to travel these roads safely. Killing them ensures we will face more resistance than we want."
"I'm not willing to risk that." Vohana pulled out her spellbook and began to look through it. "Not yet." She was still shaking, the pages of her book fluttering slightly. She took another deep breath, and pretended to be deeply absorbed in the book, while she was actually thanking her lucky stars that she wasn't dead at this moment. Or worse.
Hjol grins, "But we will strike back, friends. We just have to be careful now. Watchful. Present in yer moment." He will look over at the odd sibling pair, "Good job, both of ye. Ye saved us from fighting fer our lives."
He mushes his camel along, kind of embarrassed because he already forgot the name of his mount. Maybe he could rename it and no one would notice?
"Clean 'is stable with me shield... I never!" Hjol can be heard saying as he trots away.
"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."

Myth gives Hjol a sideways glance, he and his 'cousin' are going to get us all killed one of these days. He'll then hop down off the wagon and once again move ahead of the party to scout.
"Feel free to pursue them if you wish, if we ever come across your family we'll tell them that you loved them....."
In response to this, Ruvenel would've matter of factly stated, "My family is dead. They were all murdered or worse by pirates. Those guys," He points down the road. "Ain't no differnt than those tha' killed my family."
He would've then driven the horses forward to start the cart along the road.
The tension begins to settle as the group continues down the road heading north. The road follows natural ways and hills as if it were a river lazily moving through the lowest points on the plain. Open landscapes showing mountains to the west and hill lands to the east are interrupted subtly as a small copses of trees begin to form alongside the roadways. Up ahead a large tree appears to have fallen across the road, making it impassable.

"Aye, Ruve. I know not of the loss you have suffered. Bah, I've been lucky to not lose those close to me, but I will offer prayers for your family and that they have reached the glory of the afterlife." Hjol will ride silently next to Ruvenel, just to stay by his side. No need to press the matter. When one thinks of the dark times it usually sours a mood. As they worked their way down the road Hjolmond thinks about all the wonderful times he's had in his life and how horrible it would have been to lose his whole family. It broke his heart when he looked at Ruvenel, then Vohanna. To lose your family must be the worst feeling in the world.
He wasn't that type of cleric, though. He couldn't offer advice or show them the light in their darkness. His path was another way, one that brings glory to his creator in his works. But maybe this would make Moradin happy as well. Fixing broken people, mending them. He smiled at the thought. He should be more cordial and helpful, not gruff like he knows how. Can't fix what is broken without a steady and careful hand.
His train of thought got lost in the moment when he notices the large treee fallen across the road.
"Slow the cart, friend. I reckon trouble is up ahead." Hjol points out the fallen tree to Ruvenel.
