Brandon sees the wisdom in the group's words. “Rest here, then a fresh start at first light. Sounds good. I will take the first watch. Try and get some sleep.” Brandon looks between the door to the outside and the doors to either wing of the vault to determine the most likely direction for a threat. Realizing it was hopeless to pick one, he settled down in a corner of the room where he can watch all directions. Perception: 12.
Qidira watches the discussion curiously, silently voting for a few more minutes of the relatively warmer climate within the vault, and joins as the consensus gradually seems to run towards staying. "Yes, a little study needed here. I'll change up my spells a little, try to be more useful." She quickly rolls out her bedroll then sits cross-legged on it to peruse her spells to prep for the next day. "I'll take second watch!"
You settle down in the shelter of the Salsvault. From here you cannot hear the pounding of the unexplored room; maybe the occupant grew tired?
The night passes without incident for most of you.
@Brandon:
The dream is completely different this time. You are not at the barracks, you are floating a mile or more above the ground. The raven is here, hovering by your shoulder as you take in the incredible view; you swear that you can see the entire continent of Wildemount from up here.
"I said you'd have to choose, Brandon; Blade, Tome or Chain? You have a lot still to achieve, so choose wisely. Are you wise, Brandon?"
You try to reply but no noise leaves your mouth. The raven cocks its head curiously. "Oh sorry, I don't really care for questions. And most of my own questions are rhetorical, cheapened by answers. Take your time if you want; when you are ready, your gift will arrive. Just remember though, you must seek the truth. It's down there somewhere..."
A flare of light erupts somewhere in the dark land of Xhorhas and the raven gives a low chirp. "Well that's a curious thing. Find the truth Brandon, that's the deal"
Once again, the word 'Deal' wakes you with a start. It is morning, and something feels different...
(Please process a long rest and level up to level 3)
The morning brings sunshine, Orvo seems a little brighter himself and ready to go.
"Right, a quick march back to Syrinlya then? The Buyer might be able to zap the antidote back to Palebank!"
"Yes, I'm eager to go. We must get back quickly. If the Buyer has some way to 'zap', as you say, the antidote back to Palebank it will save us much time." With travel looming, Qidira bundles up tightly and well layered, on her feet and heading for the entrance.
Tired as he was, Kotar didn’t fail to keep his ritual. After doffing his armor and lied to sleep the goliath focused his mind on that which was and that which could be. He felt his body tired from the battles, quiet and waiting for the sleep. He imagined himself moving, his energy and speed as great and that he used against Sal. Potentiality and probability, the goliath repeated as a mantra as his consciousness drifted but not into rest. His senses expanded beyond his own self and the fighter could sense a strength new and at the same familiar. A feeling through time and beyondtime, he could hear his grandfather say. Kotar could expand on it, he felt on hos bones he could. The Ironhunter had become an Echo Knight.
Morning came fast and the goliath woke reinvigorated. He felt stronger than ever and could expand his consciousness beyond his body, beyond his present, as easy as he could breath. It was enough to make him excited for the next fight. Armor donned and shield ready he heards Orvo, Qidira and Durnham.
“I feel like this day will be a good day.” At least it had started good. “After you, Orvo.” He offers with a smile upon his lips.
Durnham is quiet during the morning. He broods over the dreams he had as they start to fade from his memory. He also looks at the surrounding environment. The walls of the vault, the floors, the doors, everything is so different and advanced. It was a shame they couldn’t stay and investigate. There was a treasure trove of information that could be gleaned from this vault. If only they had the time and resources. Perhaps someone at the university in Uthodurn would be interested in the vault and be able to get funding for an expedition to study it. The thought reminded him…
”Do you think we should go check on that creature that was pounding on the door? If it is someone trapped we could rescue them… if it is some undead thing… perhaps we should deal with it before we leave? Just so nobody else who wanders in here is killed by it?”
Qidira nods at Durnham's comment. "I fear it weighs heavy on my mind too. It is likely a horrific beast we with struggle with but perhaps to be sure? We have not yet located the missing member of the camp and I wonder if Feral Sol got ahold of him with one of his experiments? Perhaps one more final battle before we go? We could hide the Antidotes here near the entrance to keep them safe?"
Brandon wakes up with a start, covered in slick sweat despite the frigid air. “The truth…the truth about what?’ he mutters to himself quietly. Seeing the others start to rise, he quickly dons his armor and goes through his usual quick routine of footwork and sword exercises, stretching his muscles and feeling the blade lighten in his arms as he becomes one with it. Finished, he looks down at his sword. “The blade, I chose the blade. It has always been the blade.” he talks to himself.
Durnham and Qidiria’s conversation draws him out of his thoughts. The chance to find new artifacts still intrigued him, but they had another mission. “We should go. We already decided it wasn’t worth it to check out that room and nothing has changed since then other than the fact we now have less time to get this to the buyer.”
Ally Qidira’s comment, Durnham looks surprised. “Missing camp member? I don’t remember, who went missing?”
He acknowledges Kotar’s concern, “I agree but I’ve been thinking… this vault must be studied.. if a team of academics come here, they may not be prepared for a fight like that. Who better to handle whatever it is than us… who are already here? It wouldn’t take long, a few minutes to either save or dispose of whatever is in there and then we can leave. We are all fully rested and prepared… and I don’t know about you but I feel great this morning. Stronger and Comte clear headed than yesterday.”
A smile took his face as Durnham spoke, like the goliath was a child finding complicity for mischief. It was good to know the wizard was, much like himself, feeling stronger. Maybe, the Echo Knight thought, everyone got stronger after the rest. They had a long day with intense battles, the kind of thing that pushes one’s body beyond its limits without one even noticing which in turns was the way to growing in strength.
“Honestly, I don’t think that clearing the way to hypothetical explorers to come is as important as getting the cure to the outpost and there are always risks involved in a fight.” He said trying his best to make a serious expression. “From a strictly responsible, rational point of view, I cannot say we should check the room. But I doubt there is anything here stronger than Sal or his golems and we dealt with those already somewhat tired. Won’t underestimate us again, least of all when we are at full capacity.” The smile returned to his lips. “If that room has a beast, my bet is that we can deal with it rather easily and I really want a fight right now. Have to test something, make a surprise to you guys. Let’s go there.”
Responding to Durnham she waves the notes she took from the research tent. "The friend at the camp. I have all these notes though they've done us little good. He may not be here, perhaps lost along the way? And it does sound like a beast. I do agree that if anyone comes to study they may not be ready for a foe like that...even we hesitated to deal with it. I'm for opening up the room and dealing with whatever is within. But we MUST make haste back to the camp once we're done." She looks mostly to Brandon hoping he'll see that as much as she'd like to leave too, dealing with it quickly may ultimately save them time deciding and others more strife.
Ressys slepy well throughout the night. He dreamt of the moon and running wild as a wolf. He woke up refreshed and eager to get the antidote back.
"We have gotten what we have come for. I do not wish for further delay. We must return the antidote and save those who are near death. I say we get out of here now."
Brandon sighs “Ressys is right, we should go now, still..” Brandon pauses, he did first come here to uncover artifacts of power, and who knew what treasures were hidden behind the door, perhaps even a clue to the truth he was supposed to uncover “if you three want to see what is behind the door, then I will join you. But we must hurry.”
"Whatever is behind the door is of no concern to us. Only a fool seeks a confrontation that is so wholly unnecessary. It serves us no purpose to seek out this fight. However, if this is something you feel needs to be done, I will not abandon you and will go with you." Ressys says in answer to the debate,
Qidira grins at the debate then finds a large chunk of stone about 1 cubic foot wriggles her fingers at it and heat gradually radiates. She follows this with a dusting motion, clearing and cleaning a small area for her to seat herself in to watch the group. Sitting cross-legged in her usual Tinkering position, she holds up a hand and produces a little frog. Its partially mechanical-partially lifelike that observes also from her palm as she waits. (Obviously illusory)
Prestidigitation using three versions (the frog repeating) - warm, clean and illusory image.
“I will go as well. Whatever it is will be best dealt with by all of us together.”Brandon stands and pulls his sword belt tight before strapping his shield on “It’s best we go quickly so we can get back on the trail. Orvo, do you want to come along to see more of the vault? We have cleared most of it.” Brandon prepares to move back toward the room with the others.
Qidira stands, lingering by the heat of the rock, but ready to deal with the creature beyond the Red-x'd door. "Let's get this done." She nods decisively to the others and starts in the direction of the room cautiously in case any creatures still wander.

Ressys nods in agreement. "Likely safer in here than out there, from both the elements and anything wandering by."

12 And 14 portent roll
”Yes Let’s get the antidotes to the children.”
