"Normally I'd call that insane" Keth calls to Cerlinde "but right now I'm liking it. Go for it! Any one who can't do it when magic see if you can light a torch while running!"

Cerlinde, shaking her head at the desperate measures she's been forced to, fire bolts a pile of leaves on the forest floor behind the group, hoping to force the kobolds to go around and start a fire. Attack: 19 Damage: 10

As Cerlinde is generating the fire bolt in her hand, Ollezall will attempt to Kindle a torch with the same energy as it is gathering in her hand (random D20 for you to decide if this is possible) 8 . On success, Ollezall will begin lighting tinder and kindling as he runs.

Following suit, Brin fires another blast of fire at another spot behind them, working to give a larger area the kobolds need to work around as the fire spreads.
The forest floor behind you is soon full of smoke with flames popping up everywhere. The smoke is disorienting the Kobolds and one steps into the net trap that Ollezall guided you past earlier. The Kobolds pact tactics are coming apart as they debate whether to cut him down or leave him there. You reach the pass through the ridge where you were yesterday. Continuing along the ridge to go around it will mean an extra day to get to Haven. If you take the pass and run/fight through the night you could be at Haven some time tomorrow (it's evening at this point). If there are many Kobolds in that pass thought, it would become a deathtrap.
Ollezall votes going through the pass if everyone is confident.
" kobold can fight in tight spaces, and have advantage in the night over most other creatures, however they gain the same advantage to flank or overtake us if we stop. The fire we lit will also be wildfire at this juncture, so if we stop we might have kobolds and fire to contend with. On the other hand, if we can travel by daylight, or the appearance of daylight , kobolds will be at a disadvantage. Does anyone here know how to call daylight? Or other, very bright light?"
"We won't survive the long way around." Brin says with a glance to the pass. "We either go through or we die here. if there are kobolds in there, then we either have to go through them or die in the attempt. We don't have another option."
"Oskar, Dale, Bor with me " Keth yells as he holsters his bow and draws his longsword and takes the lead, the other three guards falling in behind him. The pass is as rocky and treacherous as you remember if from before. Soldier Kobolds begin appearing out of the smoke behind you. The few in the lead are more than 100feet behind you. It's getting darker, maybe an hour before fully dark.
With the four Guard in the front, where are the rest of you after that? Do you have a weapon drawn? It's difficult terrain, but downhill. How fast are you trying to go?
Brin is in the middle, and would continue to shoot blasts of fire into the forest behind them, working to slow the kobolds down. As they enter the pass he would attempt to set up a wall of fire, through blasts of his fire bolt spell, to block the entrance from those behind them. He does not have a weapon drawn. For speed I think we are all moving at standard speed, no dashing, as we are attempting to slow down those behind still. If that changes, and dashing is decided on, then Brin would stop shooting off fire blasts to keep up.
Cerlinde is next to Brin, behind the guard in the front, and following the same tactics.- moving 30’ a round, blasting with fire-bolts (120’ range) to keep a wall of fire behind the group, and occasionally blasting a Kobold that gets too close. She is walking with a staff, but has no other weapon drawn. Her owl flies overhead to scout the pass in front of us for potential ambushes.
Ollezall will take the flank, his Shield drawn. Ollezall will pick up pebbles, cast light on them and hurl them into caves or up on rock faces to make it look like the party may have stopped. Perhaps it will slow the kobolds down while someone checks out the light sources. Ollezall does this at semi regular intervals; too many, too often and they will know it's a distraction.
Other than that, Ollezall readies himself to call down sacred flame.
The smoke and flames are putting the Kobolds behind you even further back, giving you more time. Ahead you are running into Kobolds, a mix of Soldier and regular Kobolds. Keth, Oskar, Del and engage with them. One gets past them and confronts Brin and Cerlinde (you each get an attack of opportunity to start). This is a typical Kobolds, AC12, 5hp
for Cerlinde
Through your owl you become aware of a battle ahead, about a dozen Town Guard and maybe 50-60 Kobolds. You also feel a trill of powerful Magics.

Perception 14
Ollezall will look to see if there is a way to cave in the pass behind them; 50 kobolds will be enough to contend with without having to worry about being flanked from behind.
Edit: took out the spell. Figure Sunshine wouldn't cause a rockslide.
Cerlinde gets the same idea to study ahead for any natural features we can use to our advantage - avalanche, a stand of dead trees we can set fire to, anything to even the odds.
Cerlinde and Brin dispatch the Kobold that got through.
Ollezall and Cerlinde both spot an rocky overhang about 40 feet behind you and about 60 feet up that looks like it might collapse with enough damage
Several Kobolds engage the Guards ahead of you. Suddenly three Soldier Kobolds go flying backwards, landing in a heap reveling Capt Thoradin Kolar wearing Dwarven plate and wielding his favorite Warhammer. "Glad you could join us" he teases Keth " We've got one of our Wizards trying to open a portal back to the settlement about 90 feet from here. Ready?"
In four rounds the Kobolds behind you will overrun the entire pass. You have that long to cross the distance (rough terrain, facing 0-2 Kobolds each round) to make it to the portal.
"Normally I'd call that insane" Keth calls to Cerlinde "but right now I'm liking it. Go for it! Any one who can't do it when magic see if you can light a torch while running!"

Attack: 11 Damage: 2. Cerlinde whacks at one with her staff, but misses. She’s clearly not combat trained.
she calls out to the others “big battle ahead- maybe 50 Kobolds and 12 guards. I guess that’s where we make our stand!”

Brin casts Mind Sliver < br /> DC 14 int save, or 2 damage.
He will then take the disengage action and move away from the kobolds, if they are still up...
