Yasei: "I wonder if there is a connection between Ubtao, the Great God of Chult, and the Soulmonger? Perhaps that necromantic artifact came from Ubtao, or contains a concentration of the magics that Ubtao possesed Omu with."
Sleepily, from her nest between Mal and Bumble, Bree speaks up. “I think the Soulmonger filled a void left after Ubtao turned his back on Omu. You can’t just ignore people who need you, just cause you don’t like what they do. Gods never get that,” she taps out a drumbeat on her stomach. “Hush, Strawberry, you know I’m right. Leave a hole, something will slither up out of the dark to fill it. No offense,” she waves at the lizard man.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Yasei votes we continue on (once everyone is all fully healed up), and head towards area 4. It appears to offer the best views of the entire city, over that lava lake. Shall we commence?
As you all head towards area 4, Musharib once again freeze midwalk, possessed by the Oracle once again.
"NINE TRICKSTER GODS
With Ubtao gone, primal spirits arose from the rainforest to bewitch the few remaining Omuans. They disguised themselves as jungle creatures and promised great power in return for devotion. Desperate for redemption, the Omuans torn down the great Temple of Ubtao, and erected shrines to these nine trickster gods. The new deities were often cruel and divisive. Too weak to grant miracles to every follower, they concocted elaborate trials to winnow the clergy. On holy days, the mettle of aspirant priests were tested in their nine shrines, with deadly consequences for failure. These trials provided entertainment for the degenerate Omuans and fed their weakling gods with much-needed sacrifices. For nine decades, the city folk lived by the mantras of their trickster gods. They built statues in their names and schemed against each other to assert their chosen god's dominance."
As if nothing happened, Musharib continues to walk with you all.
From Bumble's back (she's trying to commune with the triceratot for future possibilities), Bree pipes up, "Strawberry and I are getting along swimmingly. Popo-zuh-whatsit... I'm calling you Strawberry. He's real good at noticing things. And kind of a jerk. You're one of these nine gods, aren't you, Strawberry? Yeah. And guys, we should go left around this bunch of rubble. Yup, left. Bumble, left!"
When half the party splits right around the rubble she shoot daggers from her eyes at them. Literally. Illusionary daggers. From her eyes.

A ruined shrine stands at the heart of this walled compound. Tall monoliths flank the entrance, decorated with images of a jaguar with six snakes sprouting from its shoulder. A stone door is set into the shrine beyond.
Clayton unknowingly puffs up with a bit of pride at the shrine. He looks around a bit, dusts off some images, but then catches himself, “Wait, why am I doing this? Shagambi, I ain’t your personal house keeper! Well that’s fair, good stewardship and all.” Clayton dusts off a bit more.

Clayton, the snake writhes inside you excitedly. It's telling you that there is a key located nearby in the shape of a cube.
In addition, located in front of you all where you didn't notice it before, a pair of leopards with snakes coming out of their backs look up from a meal they're eating and start to growl - snakes writhing.
The shrine, from this vantage point, you can see over the two leopards who are still eyeing you all very carefully, there are steps further into the shrine that go down and appear to lead into some gladiatorial arena with statues.
Clearly, this is a shrine the Umoans built to honor Shagambi, one of the nine Chultan trickster gods. Only Clayton can read the markings.
“And evidently got freaky snake people... I have no problems with this place being forbidden.”

Sounds good unless anyone objects.

In addition, on the monoliths are writings you can now read:
"SHAGAMBI TEACHES US TO FIGHT EVIL WITH HONOR"
The leopards eye you very cautiously, and you can see that the main door is open.
Yasei: Wel’ll be <right> behind you, Clayton-san.

Not too much: descriptions of the history of the shrine, and how Shagambi behaves. Nothing too earth shaking. Lots of praise and such.
The most important piece of information is what I wrote above.
The leopards with snakes on their backs watch you very carefully, but do not attack as you stand at the entrance.
The snake inside you wiggles as it communicates with you, Clayton: find the key.
