"Ach!" Laz says after being ungagged. "Thank the Great Forge. I'm Laz. That's Malkar. You're not newts! We've been here for days, weeks! Thank the Gods you've come. We're barely alive..I'm afraid Malkar has gone mad. He stopped talking after the last few beatin's."
They both have 1hp, and 5 levels of exhaustion.
"The newts are tryin' to learn the nooks and crannies of the forge. They've been torturing us and starving us - trying to get into the Treasury (Area6) - and make more weapons for the red dragon that lives below deeper in the mine. It's too dangerous to go there, but unless the upper mine (this level) is cleared of newts, all is lost. They're being led by a newt warlock. Be careful, he's dangerous."
"Someone keep him quiet! Put the gag back on if you have to!"
Using the afterglow of her awesome Persuasion roll, she gives Laz an apologetic look as someone re-gags (and reties?) Malkar, then asks, "What can you tell us about the Treasury? We think their warlock has set up there," she lies, "And whatever you can tell us will help." She shares some food and water with them. Depending on how the others fare with Malkar, she will suggest, "We should lead them back to the east and out, these guys are in no condition to help us out." If Malkar can make it, or be made to make it, we should deliver them to Sithi... whatever her name was. The one Bree doesn't like any more because she dandled her on her knee.
Then come back in to the mine. At that point, we should go to area 7, and see if we can cross to 5 and surprise them from behind, she thinks.
She also thinks a long rest would not be advisable, if anyone suggests it.
The air around her still seems to waver and getting close to her makes the hair on your arms stand up.
Yasei: "You have a very strategic mind, Bree-san. I have no doubt you would serve honorably in my fathers shogunate. I agree with your analysis of the situation - we should make haste and return these two poor souls to their compatriots outside, and then return to stamp out the remaining infestation of this mine."
Yasei puts her arm underneath Laz's shoulder and helps walk him out of the cave, all the while listening into his conversation with Bree, in hopes of gaining any insights into potential strategic advantages against the newt warlock.
The dwarves are easy to carry, since they are so malnourished. Laz tells you that there is a key that opens the treasury, most likely on the newt warlock. The dwarves didn't give them any information, but the cost was high.
You deliver the dwarves to Musharib and Sithi outside. They are both greatful to you, and to find survivors, and Sithi promises to take care of the two dwarves. Mushrib looks around the group..
"Where...is Edge?" He asks, but he thinks he knows the answer.
“Mr. Darkmoon gave his life for our mission. We’ll continue to clear your forge for you. However, after this, I expect you to work as hard as we will to revive him.” Clayton says solemnly as he removes his hat.

As the party recounts Edge's death, Bree sidles up to Mal and leans against him. She did not know him well, but they'd spent two weeks together aboard the boat, and she feels his loss. She is touched that Musharib also noticed.
"Um, Mooshie, you guys don't have any healing or anything we could use when we go back in? Or, ha ha, you know, you haven't found any wandering healers who'd want to join us?"

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
"No," he says, thinking for a moment "but I may have another possibility once you are all done. We know of a...place...in the jungle. I will discuss it with Sithi in the meantime."
You can hear chanting coming from the nook (AREA7). You are about 30 feet from the nook entrance. Chanting. Evil. The entrance is glowing purple, as if something bright is inside. Something is going on. No one is guarding the front of the nook entrance, and you can see a way to AREA5 by a thin railing going across the lava floe.
OOC > I was kinda hoping we could go narratively stealthily, not in-game stealthily, but whatevs. With her 11 Bree thinks she's like a shadow in a dark room.

Yasei unties the two bound dwarves, and then stands back.

Holy, you nailed those rolls, nicely done!

"Ach, i'm so tired and hungry..."
Malkar screams uncontrollably once he is ungagged. He is clearly suffering from mental illness. And he's very loud.

"Hey Hey shh, it okay, there's no need for all that screaming." Maldrek says, trying to sooth the man.
OOC:I don't know what I could roll to try and comfort him/quiet him down.(I'll roll Charisma:14)
If he keeps screaming he'll just gag him again and carry him like a baby to the exit.
“I agree with Bree, we should at least drop these folks off somewhere safe before we get into anymore trouble.”
