Pieste Mor isn't so good at the investigating but does what they can. Either on their own wing or carried around by Jax, the dragon will mostly take the lead asking any young children that are encountered, and entertaining them first with a bit of smoke figures and pyrotechnics depicting their predicament and need to find these elves... If nothing else, at least kids are entertained and get semi-reasonable smoke pictures of who is being looked for.
The group departs and starts looking for the elves. You do some searching, working your way towards the gates of the town. There aren't many people out on the streets right now--most inhabitants of the town seem to be busy with their tasks and jobs for the day. And of the few people who are on the streets, on the way to errands or the like, nobody's seen the elves.
However, after just a couple minutes of looking, you hear the sound of metal on stone around the corner. Looking around, you see a...moderately surprising sight, though some of you may have started to suspect something like this when the poison happened.
A mummy, wrapped in linen and with the Blood of Vol teardrop symbol on his forehead, is desperately defending himself against the four elves, who are now dressed and equipped much more for battle. Azael wears plate armor, and his greatsword glitters with golden light. Shaehas stands some distance from the conflict and closer to you (perhaps 20 feet away), a silvery sickle in her hand and shimmering with power. Next to her is Ilyr, who has a spellbook open and is busy chanting in Elvish, drawing power from it. And battling alongside Azael is who you presume is Liraes, wielding a large, rune-carved glaive in his silver-gloved hands and fighting alongside a lanky metal dog. A silver mask in the shape of a skull covers the elf's face.
The mummy is clearly losing this battle, scorchmarks from the glowing sword along his bindings. Shaehas spots you all and narrows her eyes, green power wreathing her sickle. "Stay out of this," she warns.
Jax:
The skull mask Liraes is wearing is definitely the same kind you saw in your dream. And seeing it carries with it a STRONG sense of dread and maybe fury.
PM:
You recognize the mask as the symbol of the Deathguard, an Aereni special forces group that devotes themselves to hunting down Mabaran undead, since the Aereni believe said undead drain the life force of Eberron via their very existence. If the dragons know the truth of that theory, they haven't told you.
Robin:
You recognize the mask as the symbol of the Deathguard, an Aereni special forces group that devotes themselves to hunting down Mabaran undead, since the Aereni believe said undead drain the life force of Eberron via their very existence.
An OOC reminder since it's been a bit: You ascertained upon your arrival that this is a Seeker town. Which does suggest that this mummy is an elder of the town. I leave it up to peoples' individual discretion if each of your characters would put that together.
Anybody choosing to involve themselves in this (in any way), please roll initiative. If you aren't, please state what you are doing in a post.
"Stop this now." Robin snaps, stepping forward. She pulls out her wand and holds it up. Aiming at the mage with the spellbook open, she sends a blast of flame at the book itself.
Robin's firebolt arcs over and hits Ilyr's book, which does not burst into flames, but does jolt hard, nearly falling out of the elf's hands. She lifts her head and narrows her eyes at the other wizard. "Azael. Interference."
Drego's bolts all hit, and Ilyr grits her teeth as the bolts sink in. "Yee harwa," she calls tensely to Azael.
Those of you who speak Elvish: She basically just called you all a problem.
The moment Drego starts to move, the green light around Shaehas's sickle explodes into a tangle of vines and branches that leap towards you and try to bind you all to the ground.
DC 16 Strength saving throw from everyone or you are restrained from the entangle spell. You may repeat your save at the end of each of your turns.
The masked Liraes backs away from the battle with the mummy.
AOO from the mummy bean:
Attack: 17 Damage: 22
Liraes sets a hand on Ilyr's shoulder, and silver light dances across her wounds, healing at least some of them.
Just as the entanglements are grasping at the Dragon’s feet, Pieste Mor utters a cryptic roar and seemingly turns into a silvery smoke like mist which is quickly dispersed, only to reappear about 30 feet up in the air, just on the other side of the brouhaha. ((Bonus Action Misty Step to avoid/get out of entangle))
“…you are guests in these lands,” Pieste Mor points out. “…since when do the sacred laws of hospitality allow such to attack their hosts?”
Continuing the idea of Killing Them With Fire, PM quickly makes up his mind and attacks those who have attacked him, turning his head and opening his maw to spit out a Fire Bolt at Ilyr!
Stitch attempts to move as Drego suggests and finds that he is rooted to the ground and unable to move. Stitch pulls out his knife and tries in vain to cut himself free and escape from these pesky vines.
Looking towards the elves he calls out “I am stitch?” Clearly trying to understand why they are assaulting this… person.
Then he looks down and sees the vines holding him begin to fall off of him. Almost as if a divine presence was healing him somehow. He then looks for the nearest object to hide behind and get out of the elves line of sight.
