This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Next encounter rolls: 7, 4. The night is quiet and peaceful without the sounds of nearby animals. The cool night air and close water makes the ground spongy. Anyone moving through the area will find that the soil gives way underfoot a little too readily.
Next roll: 3, 5. Someone other than Kythas (since he claimed first watch) make a Perception check. First submission will be considered the one on guard duty.

During your watch, you hear rustling from a few spots out of sight. Several sources of movement seem to be moving in your general direction. Their movements are slow and calculated, but the forest in this area gives them away.

Fire is optional if someone would like to build one retroactively. No animals, the noises seem to stop as soon as you move to the others.

Back at the scene of the troll-and-oni fight . . .
:Kyrthas,: I mindcall gently, :next time, please wait until everyone agrees there's no other option before killing a prisoner.:
Then, out loud and to the entire party, "Call me paranoid, but I'd much rather not have to set up camp in the dark--not in that forest, at least." Then, telepathically communicating with each of my men (OOC: and women, of course, but I don't think it should be necessary to specify, nor do I think Caelynn would be in the habit of making the distinction, so I'll stop now) one by one, :But it seems I'm outvoted, so let's make the best of whatever's watching us having heard that. Leave the horses here and make it look like we're setting up camp. Anyone have any good illusions? Invisibility, perhaps?:
Now . . .
I come out of my rest-trance smoothly at Sohyme's touch--when she gets around to waking me up, of course. :What is it?:
Caelynn, you detect the shifting of three groups in the bushes. From the left, the *CRACK* of a fallen tree trunk splitting disturbs the quiet night. Hissing quickly ensues from three sides: Left, Right, and Center. The tree line and bushes are twenty feet out from the edge of the central pool. There's a tense pause, waiting to see what happens next.

Beign used to sleep in the wild and not having caught the sleep yet, Kyrthas opened his eyes when he listened to the CRACK. But still not moved. Quietly he grabbed his axe and listen a little bit more, then he heard the bushes moving and sees Sohyte moving towards them. He nods to her, to make her know that he is awake and slowly stands up, his axe grabbed and ready, and moves his feet to poke the captain to wake him.
There, there, and there. We're practically surrounded. I'll have to bluff. No, Vaike will have to bluff. :Vaike, wake up. Easy, quiet. Potential enemies there, there, and there.: I show him the locations of the groups. :On my signal, try to intimidate them into showing themselves.: I give the same information and similar orders to the rest of my men. :Gridolpho, prepare an ambush, but hold it until they're confirmed hostile. Sohyme,: I pause, considering, :be visibly magical, if you know what I mean. Flashy lights and sounds, maybe a few massive bonfires or something. That sort of thing.: I give Perrin the same orders as Sohyme and Kyrthas the same orders as Vaike.
OOC: This'll probably take a while. Anything happen?

The treeline is in a rough circle around you, starting about 20' away. A wild screech from the central rustling is joined by a chorus from the other sides. You see the flicker of scales and yellow eyes in the foliage. 1 The sun is starting to rise, but the dawn is still an hour or two away. Targets within the bushes are concealed from view, but you are sure that if they attack, you can pinpoint their exact locations.
