The oni shift and sways until it rests in a kneeling position, its glaive dipped toward the party. Even compared to Kyrthas, the creature is massive. A rumbling chuckle begins, but is caught by a sudden heaving cough. The oni looks up at Gridolpho, "I didn't see you there, child. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were my more typical prey playing at being an adventurer."
Seeing those assembled, the oni takes a few moments to assess, "Yes, you are an odd lot," its voice is deep and brutish, yet a clear level of cunning belies a greater mind, "I'll admit, this place is not my home, so I really can't tell anything. You'd have better luck bringing them back," he nods at the charred trolls. He re-postures, sitting upright on his knees, glaive held straight up, "Tell me, how can you tell a lie from one who lives by deception?" His face rests just under the level of Caelynn's chin.

"Because" says the goliath putting the edge of his axe at the oni's throat, very slowly, letting it feel the cutting edge "if you lie to us you will try to swallow and you'll kill yourself" he pushes a little more just to let a fine line of blood over the edge.
Leaning in slightly, the oni stares down Kyrthas, "What I know is this: The forest has been claimed by agents in higher regard than me. I am merely a pawn meant to rally fodder against Alvernia's progress. If you want to resolve your issues with them, that's up to you. As for me, I have nothing further to give." The oni's head begins to melt away, leaving only a headless body, two glowing red eyes, and a wide, fanged smile, "Is this good enough for you? Seems like you want to remove my head, so I did it for you."

Vaike turns his body, facing his back (and consequently his cloak filled with the swirling eye patterns) to the whole Oni dilemma, and barks "It's kind is as slippery and treacherous as any snake you could find in this forest, time wasted here is time wasted for the entire army. Kill the brute and let's carry on with the mission."
"You are a dangerous opponent, you can cast spells and you could tell of us to whoever you call masters. Letting you just walk away is too dangerous. There is one way for you to live. Submit to my next spell and all you will end up doing is hiding for the next month."
As much as the party-killer in me wants to keep the Oni alive as a reoccuring nussance, Kyrthas' axe falls, followed by an Oni head. In addition to the troll's treasure, you find a purse of 100gp on the Oni.
Now then, you have traveled for 8 hours and it is getting near dusk. Travel is in 4-hour increments for encounters, but that can be increased to 6 hours if someone wants to roll a DC 15 Survival check. There is about 16 hours of travel ahead of you before you reach your objective.

I'll give this about an hour or two and roll for the next encounter if there are no objections. After the next roll, the 12 hours following will be considered "night encounters", so darkness will play into any combat. After each encounter roll, I'll give a couple hours if anyone wants to dialogue, rest, or roll Survival to increase the next encounter to a 6-hour window of travel.

I believe Perrin is offering Guidance in case you haven't added the extra d4.

Sohyme approaches the group, silently from the rear, her soft voice matching the sounds of the forest. Her cloak pulled away from her face, the dancing flames left from her earlier spell, dance across it.
"Shouldn't we camp, heal a bit and for those of us that need to, prepare ourselves for tomorrow? Fighting in an unknown forest at night could spell death for us. Especially, with one that seems to have a presence." Sohyme knowing all to well that a "being" can present it self in aid but really be a demonic trap.
Sohyme kneels to the forest floor and places some moss on a piece of fabric putting it on a wound waiting for reply.

“We have a few hours of sunlight left, the more we dilly dally the more of our men die. Whatever evils there are in this forest won’t be by the outer edges. I say we travel until sundown.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Travel through the next roll, 6 hours covered: 9 no enxounter, 3 bonus encounter roll! 6, still nothing.
Travelling into dusk, the forest remains oddly calm. Your time as mercenaries have taught you that animals give away an ambush. The trees bear an odd silence that puts you on edge, but the occasional chirp or chatter breaks the tension.
Temperatures drop as the sun sets, lending to the name Coldscale Forest. Just before dark, you find a clearing bearing only a few large trees and a natural spring. The area resonates a serenity uncommon until now.

"Seems like a good spot to take a rest. There are no animals, but perhaps the plants could share some information too."
Perrin plants his staff in the ground and uses Speak with Plants (staff built-in, cost 3 charges). He then communicats with the plants to establish if the area is as safe as it looks.
