If the exit wasn’t closed the Goliath is outside the cavern, sitting in the floor with his back against one tree ( perhaps an ent if it hasn’t said nothing ) his eyes closed, a little of his blood dripping on the floor coming out from one of his many wounds.
I had completely forgotten before getting this far in the grove: everyone receives an Inspiration point for their collective rolls in piecing together much of the mystery of The Verdant en route to the grove and the interactions both inside and outaide of the tree.

:I'm good enough to detect mind control, but not good enough to break it. That leaves us with only one option--kill the source. It's probably the dragon.: Bloody dragons. "Good day, m'lady." The way I pronounce it, you can't tell if it's meant to be milady or malady. "We'll be leaving just as soon as we finish doing your job for you." I turn on my heel and march out.

Question for the GM. Does the corpse of Caelardon still there when they go out? You know Kyrthas made a promise to that centaur and would like to keep it...
Sadly the treants have dragged the bodies away. Willowwill awaits outside with Tallgrass slung over a branch. It seems as though he's mildly patched up, but still in rough shape. The tree-man waits to escort you back to the border of the Grove territory.

At this point, you are at the same point as when you met Tallgrass, just with more knowledge and more holes in your firbolg companion. How would you like to proceed? You can try your hand at killing The Verdant, sneaking in for more info, changing course to attack the lizardfolk, or whatever other direction you'd like to go.

"Guardian of the grove, I ask if we can trade some items from your people or from the centaurs before we leave. In particular, I would need some druid supplies like diamond dust. We are willing to pay in gold, or in magic services. I could even take time to cast Plant Growth if that's what it takes."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before the treants leaves Kyrthas will talk to them.
“I am sorry for what happended down there. But I am more sorry for you. You must listen to us. Your Lady isn’t herself. She is either mind controlled or that creature is not her at all. Please, you must find your Lord and help him. We will try to do as we can, but you musn’t follow her blindly, as that stupid centaur did, or you all are going to die. I don’t give a damn about your forest, buy I hate to see noble and loyal creatures like yourself or Tallgrass led into death by madness.”
With that the goliath nods to the treant and goes to eat something and to heal his wounds.
He will use 4d12 and 1d10 of his hit dice to heal himself. Using (correctly now) the Amulet, the rolls are:
Willowwill gives a deep sigh. It's an eerie moan within a hollow chest that deepens the sorrow, "My kind know the plight of the land, though it may not seem as such to outsiders. The Lady is no imposter, but we have not been able to dissuade her that anything is wrong. She is mother of this forest and her children serve as her stewards and guardians. I am aware that something has taken hold of our Lady's mind. She carries the power she always has, but the determination seems to have left and she is content to stagnate and wait for her husband's recovery. I only hope that the aid she speaks of is truly benevolent."
To Perrin, "I am sorry, friend. The only one who would carry such things would be The Lord and Lady themselves. They are not hoarding tyrants, but they ask that such magics be kept close to the Grove so as not to be used unwisely."

“I see” replies the goliath with a deep sigh from his part. He taps the bark of the treant “ We will do what we can. We will try to clean that dragon and lizarfolk infestation, perhaps that helps...” he turns to the halfling “She said that there was a dragon with the lizardfolk, dind’t she? At least we had that much...”
"I do not think we can leave this area as it is. The lady did say that the "forest sees" and thus, being mind-controlled, she could give away all our movements. Not to mention whatever is happening to her husband right now. Remember that call for help we heard: it was very weak, so we may not have much time. I feel we cannot leave this behind. We must sneak into the grove again tonight.
If we could somehow take the healing ingredients from the Verdants' home tree, I should be able to break the curse my magic. I could also neutralise whatever poison affect the husband. Failing that, I could try overwriting the enchantment with my own. As unpleasant as that would be, it's better than the alternative."
“ I have faith in your abilities but the part that bugs me is, preciesly that one of the forest seeing. I think that if we try to sneak in she is going be waiting for us. Perhaps destroying the lizard-folk and dragon meneace we help them. What if the source of their poisoning is the dragon? Or the lizar-folk? We stop them, we stop the poisoning, we save the day. “ he thinks for a moment “ maybe you could use your magics to look at the lizards encampent? See if the posioning comes from there? “
"I just don't like leaving behind such an unclear threat behind us. We we should be able to sneak in, don't forget I can make us invisible to both magical scrying and actually invisible. Even the most powerful magics will struggle to find us. As for the dragon, we would probably find it easier to kill it, if the forest is on our side. I would hope the Verdant should be able to resist the poisoning for some time if they are cured and fully aware of its existance. While we can go and kill the dragon to end the problem permanently. I would be able to use magic from a medium distance to work out where it it is, but I will need a rest before I can use it.
Before that, I can can check something though."
Perrin touches a nearby tree and puts markings on it with magic. The markings begin to glow and slowly move on the surface, taking small chuncks of bark, leaves and insects with it. Eventually they form a shape loosely resembling a human face (Divination). Perrin knows this face will offer a truthful reply to one question.
"If I cast Greater Restoration to dispel the curse from the Verdant lady and we help her as best we can, will she stay of free of the curse for at least two days?"
“As you say “ replies the Goliath “ you all know that I will follow... even if you decide to go into a dragon’s lair or down a stinky cave to fight a crazy witch. But resting sounds good to me “
The tree face ponders for a moment, "Difficult to say...Yes? Know that a curse to some seems a boon to others." The face settles back into its trunk.

"Hmm... These answers are never easy. Perhaps impying treason deep within the grove's inhabitants? We do have our answer though: we can lift the curse from the Verdant and have some time to deal wth the source afterwards."
