Not find I g any animals to.speak with Sohyme turns to face the group. If you can dispel let's do it. To have the forest on our side when fighting may be to our benefit.
It seems we have a tie of opinions with a leaning toward freeing The Verdant. Would anyone like to propose a plan of action? I'm very open to anything. You are camped about an hour walk from the entrance to The Grove and it's about mid-afternoon (pre-rest).

They are sworn to protect The Verdant and their Grove. You've convinced them you're intentions are good, but it will be hard to justify killing their Master(s) without good proof that it's necessary.

As you collaborate on a way to execute a plan to save The Verdant, the rumbling of a giant beast rocks the area. Through the trees, the hulking form of a treant can be seen. When it reaches you, it bends over to get a closer look. It is the same treant who stood in The Grove and stopped the attack by the centaur.
"I am called Deeproot, First of the Forestkin. I have seen The Verdant grow since I was but a sapling like many of the trees around you. My Lady wishes an audience with..." He squints and examines each of you before extending a long, branchy finger to Caelynn and Perrin, "You. And you. She only wantss to speak with the two, but said nothing more of the rest." The treeman seems incapable of the facial movements needed, but something on his face seems to want to wink.

The goliath stands and grabs his axe and walks in front of the treant.
”She can talk, they can talk, the rest of us will listen. She is not herself, you know it right? And we only want to help, not only her, all of you. Could anyone of you just listen to us and let us help you?”
"This sounds fine. We go meet to talk. The others haven't been forbidden so they could follow. Being courteous, they will try not to make too much noise. And maybe someone,"looking at Grido "will chance upon the healing ingredients we need for the healing spell while we talk"
The treant's wooden expression is locked in a contemplative stare, "We are bound to serve our Lord and Lady; it is not our place to act outside their wishes. Perhaps this talk will prove more beneficial than the last?"

“I see “ says Kyrthas and taps the treant bark with understanding “Lead us in then. I promise I will behave” he says with a smile.
He let the others walk first and whispers to Perrin “This is a trap, you know it right?”
Perrin responds:
"Probably is. But it is an opportunity to get without trouble into the Verdant home. All we need is to stall and delay while someone gets the ingredients".
Deeproot leads you back to The Grove where The Verdant Lady waits outside the entrance to her tree. She notes the two invited, but quirks an eyebroe at the rest and gives a monotone, "Hmph,"
"I only wish to speak to the two summoned. As for the rest, do try not to harm my home any further or you may find how far Deeproot can bury his feet."
The Lady escorts Caelynn and Perrin in and past the chamber you spoke together before.
For the two following, you took the center of the three mystery passages from before.
I'll give a bit of time for the others to elaborate on the execution of their plan.

With a casual air, Gridolpho sidles up next to Kyrthas.
"Glad yer here, friend. Alla these trees 'round? An axe is a handy ting to 'ave. Keep it handy, aye?"
Slipping away after the comment and waiting a minute for the goliath to begin nervously gripping his axe, the thief makes his way over next to Vaike.
"Tsk. Tsk. Would ya lookit tha'? Grumbles is lookin' mightly tense and tha' axe o' his is bound to be puttin' them branchies on edge. Maybe summin' oughta ha' a word and tell 'im to take it down a notch?"
His scene is set. As a short but loud "disagreement" begins between the stalwart paladin and the brawny barbarian, the distraction allows Gridolpho to slip away into the shadows.
Gridolpho explores the left passage first. His keen senses avoid every overgrown root and fallen branch to keep himself hidden. It's a long, winding passage which rises and falls at steep cliffs at times for almost a quarter of a mile. The final stretch is a steady decline into the earth. The air grows thick and humid until you reach a doorless entry.
This new room is expansive, but seems crowded all the same. Dug into alcoves along the walls, small nests hold eggs by dozens. Scattered throughout the room, a half-dozen feathered, winged snakes sleep in coiled mounds.

The room appears to be a hatchery and these snake creatures are either the guardians, parents, or both. Each of the eggs reflects the light as if they were....gemstones?
