As Mal places her hand over the face of the woman, the bedroom breaks into chaos, the womans arm swinging across her body in a blur to knock Mal's hand away, even as she's rolling towards the side of the bed with the sheathed weapon. As she moves, her hair flies about, and you notice that the strangely lanky body, thin face, mottled skin, long ears and pointed features reveal that she must in fact be a Githyanki...a creature that all of you have heard about before, if not seen directly.

"So be it then, some of us had just wanted to ask questions, you have chosen death." With that Mal brings her crossbow up and fires at the woman in front of her.
[OOC: I assume these guys do not have armor on yet and I also assume due to the Assassinate ability (below) I get advantage on my attacks as along as they do not go before me though with them not being surprised I do not gain auto-crits.]
Assassinate PHB, pg. 97
You have advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn in the combat yet, and any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.
[OOC: If I need to I will use 2 superiority dice to make sure these attacks hit. 1st attack: 2 2nd Attack: 5]

Mal takes one step back, and fires two bolts into the woman as she scrambles for her blade. They bolts tear into her with terrible results, spraying blood across the bed. She's grievously injured, but still moving.
Mordekai, Kurik, take your actions. (and Kari if you roll init higher than 13)

Mordekai wonders for a moment, and points towards the door, "Are they your crying children? It seems senseless to render them orphans because you didn't have the sense to talk first. You don't both have to die. We may not even be your enemies. Who do you serve?"
(Let's throw a Persuasion check in there too, just to make it feel like more of a full turn...28)
Edit: That should be a minimum 26, as Mordekai treats rolls of 9 or lower as a 10 for Persuasion or Deception checks due to his Silver Tongue trait.

Kari had snuck over to the door as indicated earlier, keeping her glaive ready, and a good thing too! She itches to swing away, but the mention of the children has her pausing. She decides to open the door a crack so the fussy children can be heard better, then says loud enough to be heard be the one Mordekai is trying to reason with "I'd listen to the teifling if I were you."
In the chaos of the first few moments in the darkness, bolts are fired, movement is frantic, and both Kari and Mordekai try words. Meanwhile, the darkness is lit up by a flaming sword that is brought down twice, sizzling burning slashes being seared across the other Gith's chest. In the darkness of the room with only the orange flickering fire light from Kurik's blade, the woman slumps backwards, giving up her attempt to get to her sword, while the male rolls off of the bed, flopping to one side. In only some light sleeping clothes, his burned wounds ache across his mid section, he winces in pain, but the woman is the one to speak. She shouts first in a language you don't understand, clearly directing the male, "Tich'cla Mortus, ka spant tatum!!!" and then puts a hand up at Mal, and speaks in halting common, eyes glaring towards Kari and Mordekai, "We surrender....we surrender......" The man, at her words, looks tense, ready to act, but freezes in place, eyes locked on Kurik and his flaming blade.
She seems tense, ready to react in case Mal does something sudden.

The woman, looking pale despite the orange flickering light blinks her yellow eyes at Mordekai, a fierce grimace on her face, and then grins, her teeth full of blood, "We serve Grand Knight Al'chaia."

Mal raises her hand off the triggering mechanism of her crossbow and lowers the point a little bit, still keeping it pointed in the women's general direction, "Told you talking was your best decision, listen to my friends here."
Mordekai notes the discomfiting look of the bloody grin, and pings a quick mental note to Quinn to see what he makes of this woman and her apparent pleasure at the name of her patron despite her injuries.
"And who is the Grand Knight Al'chaia? What is their allegiance with regards the lich named Ruin?"
Quinn shivers inside Mordekai's pocket, and screeches a bit inside his mind. In a trembling fear filled voice he almost whispers, "We are far away from all.....I feel bad."
The woman furrows her brow at Mordekai's questions, looking genuinely confused. "If you do not know our leaders revered name..." she glances at the other members of the group "...I do not know what you want to know. She is our leader. She commands all of Creche K'liir, in which you stand. As for a lich named Ruin. We have no allegiance with such a creature."

Hearing the woman's words, Mal lowers her crossbow a bit more, now pointing it to the ground, "OK here is the blunt of it, we are in search of some Lich bones that my friend over here has discerned is in some caves with some type of structures and he teleported us here. We don't necessarily have to have an ill will towards those that reside here and we are just looking for some caves with ancient ruins in them." She then pauses and sighs, "I don't often apologize but if you have any inclination of being hunted down by, I guess we can call them gods of a lessor sort anyway, you tend to act first and then ask questions for one's own safety. Truce?" Then she turns to her fellow companions, "Shall we ask to be escorted to this leader of theirs, maybe she will have more information."
"Good to know, however, it woudl probably be easier to be escorted to our destination than to fight our way there." Mal says in responce to Kendraks words.
