Stena nods slowly in understanding.
"Aye recognize that. Ye have good reasons to hate them but..."
Stena finds herself in an uncomfortable position of preaching tolerance.
"Ranador, yer people captured and enslaved meh and the rest of us. Aye'm not going to hold that against ye, ye had nothing to do with it. That Kuo-toa-"
She gestures at the water,
"Should have a chance to prove itself. Aye have even met Koa-toa aye could trust."
She takes a breath,
"Ye don't need to be afraid of it. Remember we're working on ye being able to defend yerself, and aye will protect ye as best aye can until ye don't need - or want meh to."
She glances over at the almost certainly staring Buppy and lowers her voice,
"Please, Ranador, please speak to meh before ye do anything rash. Buppido has treated ye well, aye appreciate that, but aye'm concerned what his... motivations might be."
((I would love for that 19 persuasion to ride but in case you want a new roll: 9 ))
Ranador seems skeptical about trusting kuo-toa, and glances over at Buppido before turning back to you and nodding. "He said he'd help you protect me, said I don't have to take anything from anyone."
The KT seems to have been dutifully checking under the boat, and it pops up right below Galingal's face, moistening him with a spray of water. "Not a boat fixer, no, but steering thing looks kinda broken. Wiggled it and it didn't come off though."

Stena nods slowly to Ranador,
"We'll keep working on yer skills with a sword. When we get to the duegrar city aye'll see about getting ye a bow as well, if ye'd like."
Her glaze turns to the KT popping up and moistening Galingal. She says to Ranador,
"Keep being careful. Never stop."
She gives the boy a small smile before heading over to hear the KT. If the KT needs help up she'll let Galingal help it before asking Galingal quietly in common,
Lia is quiet. She can often be caught looking out from the ship over the water, both ahead and back the way they came, or steadfastly helping with the poles or the oars. Once or twice she swings her lute round from where it hangs on her back at one hip, to the front, and looks like she’s about to play something… and then doesn’t.
She can’t disappear, like Stena seems to fade into the background, but the brash, bright light that is Lia seems to dim as the boat journey goes on.
She gravitates a little towards Neth. She’ll maybe ask how he’s doing or similar. She’s both heartened, but also unnerved, by his sudden change of mood. She seems to both want it to rub off on her yet also not to ‘catch’ it!…
Right now she sits, thoughtful, helping with one of the oars.
Your initial shift is quiet, as you move through the dimly lit area you had been attempting to avoid spending the night it, and it's another hour or more until you emerge into a vast, dark cavern. Pushing on last night would have been exhausting.
As you're making your way through the cavern, there is a loud splash in the distance, and a few moments later, the boat rises and dips as a wave passes under. A series of splashes, from the other side from the first, and a series of ripples pass under the boat.
"I bet that is all kinds of bad news...", Jimjar mutters.
A brief whistling sound precedes the next splash, much closer this time. "Rock in the water, from above! Oh, don't drop rocks on meee!", your KT passenger moans.
There is a groaning of stone, and a few pebbles that splash down around you at first as you start poling faster, but rocks are raining down on the boat.

Lia has been gravitating towards Neth, when she notices the rocks she calls, “Neth watch out!!…”.
((Can she give him bardic inspiration with that in time? If so, +d6 to a roll in the next 10 mins)).
And she tries to dodge out the way herself.
DEX save for Lia (DC12): 6
If possible she’d also want to throw her body over Neth to try and protect him ((can she provide ‘help/assist/advantage’ to Neth on his save?? Sorry she probably can’t do either, but she would do what she can to protect him: bardic and assist, if possible!)).
Lia notices the danger quickly enough to call out encouragement to Neth, but as she moves to help him, she's met with a rock from above that knocks her to the deck.
((Bardic to Neth!))

((It was 19 then 12, yep. She doesn't have a modifier so I was pretty happy with both rolls!))
"Aye, for all the bad things. Aye've learned that distance is important."
Galingal looks over at Stena.
”Both say damage. Neth say all fine but he strange now. Don’t trust.” He shrugs then adds .”But not trust KT.”
Galingal gets polling again to keep the boat moving now knowing they may not be able to steer well he keeps a closer eye out for rocks and barriers.
He doesn’t wait for the KT to get back on board before starting. If the newcomer gets on, fine, if not, oh well.
