As she notices Sylvio entombed in flesh, the Ranger advances. Close to her ally, she calls upon nature itself. Her words and gestures call forth a spirit, its form that of a tortle, masked and carrying a bo staff. His presence exudes knowledge and the strength of a warrior, his very presence and power assuages if ever so slightly the damage inflicted upon the elf. She understands immediately such effort is not enough. Scarpaldi needs to be saved from his confinement and that is exactly what she tries to do. First with strength, but then she notices that it seems to be easier to remove the rotting flesh with her claws, attacking it.
All the while the monstrous crow screeches. With a fast flap of wings, the avatar of the curse in the kotoribako moves forward, talons at the ready, vying clearly and for the beastmaster. Just like it did in the Magnificent Mansion. For whatever it could mean, the malediction that motivated it seemed to be unchanged. As the raptor passes through Amadi, the disciple of Gond notices that there is time to at least an attempt of hitting the creature. A hit, he knows quite well, may just save Sunny from an otherwise terrifying attack. If things are the same. If.
Notes: I have updated the map in the Roll20 game. In case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Jynne, Sunny notices that the only way to releasing Sylvio is to tearing (attacking) the flesh entombing the rogue. You roll was considered an attack and have hit its target. Roll damage for a claw attack (1d4+3). @Althax, Sylvio remains restrained. There is no saving throw to end this condition. @Paladin, Amadi can make an attack of opportunity against the kotoribako avatar. @Gunner, it is now Sweeps turn.
The stench of the creature, oh the stench. Amadi steels himself and isn't overcome but the putrid smell that washes over him. He faces the creature but he is still aware of what is going on around him. He hears the beat of the crows wings as it passes him by and instinctively he lashes out with his hammer hoping to knock it down.
Attack: 11 Damage: 12
(On his turn)
Amadi continues to face the creature in front of him as he hammers away at it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sweeps’ anger rises as Sylvio is encased in rotting flesh, and he releases a scream of rage. Seeing Sunny attack at the flesh surrounding Sylvio, he moves forward to take out his anger against the creature facing Amadi.
Wild Magic surge: 3.
Sweeps’ maul is surrounding by magical energy as he brings it around and down on the creature in front of him and Amadi
Sunny claws at the undead mass surrounding Sylvio, turning grasping into attack as her claws extend into it.
She tries to ignore the massive attack on her by the Kotoribako focused first on freeing her friend, hissing at his blow and trying to hold concentration on the spirit spell, hoping her companions are successful in their own attempts.
Sunnyhas two attacks per round normally so the healing spirit would still take effect with the above healing this round of 3 if it can affect him through the mass (no effect on undead). The 9 above would turn into 15 with her +6 to attack doing a potential 4 in slashing damage. Her other clawed hand Attack: 14 Damage: 5
As the crow flies towards Sunny, Amadi’s hammer fells upon the undead beast. The steel imbued with the divine spark of the Wonderbringer throws the exanimate at the ground and it dissolves in a myriad of feathers and darkness confirming that its nature remained the same since the last fight. The curse would target the tortle, but in its eagerness its movements would be easy to read and its body was frail.
Maybe it was determination to save Sylvio, maybe it was confidence in the warrior, but the beastmaster managed to ignore the threat upon herself. Another claw attack is released upon the flesh entombing the rogue and putrid ichor pours from the wounds. The gashes reduce visibly the hold of the undying mass over Scarpaldi. If it was a common enemy one would say the thing was starting to show more than just a little of wear and tear.
Sadly, it was not the only thing the five needed to be worried about. The other undying started moving. One (II) reaches Amadi’s position, flanks Shadeflame and lashes violently against him. One of the strikes break against the plate armor, but the second bashes against the human's head, distorting his world for a moment. Another (III) get as close as fifteen feat from Gabriel and impaled its own deformed body, tearing a piece of itself and firing it upon the Aasimar. A move mimicked by the last (IV) of the zombies, this time targeting the disciple of Gond. The chained humanoid did not remain still either, diminishing the distance between himself and the group, but being deterred by the size of his own… Allies?
Notes: I have updated the map in the Roll20 game. The zombies are now numbered and in case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Althax, Sylvio remains restrained. There is no saving throw to end this condition. He can, though, attack. @Jynne, thank you for pointing the second attack. I had completely missed that. @Gruba, make a Strength save throw, DC 16. @Paladin, make a Strength save throw DC 16 and a Constitution save throw DC 14. @Gunner, I believe Sweeps also have a second attack. If you wish to use it feel free to roll (attack and damage).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sylvio will attack with both his scimitar and the short sword at the flesh holding him. With a below he unleashes his booming blade as he flails about at the flesh. All finesse and fluidity gone as he lashes about in a desperate attempt to escape.
23 Attack for 10 slicing damage plus 5 thunder damage.
Bonus attack: 22 attack for 1 piercing damage
Plus an additional 11 sneak attack damage if either strike hits
As Sunny claws at the tomb of flesh encasing her friend, Sylvio feels the putrid muscles pressuring his body, trying to literally squeeze the life out of him. Fortunately and thanks to her healing spirit, the elf resists without much trouble and inspired by the tortle’s strikes he notices his own capability to retaliate against his aggressor. Encasing his blade in thunder, Scarpaldi give steel to the enemy and at the end of his second attack see the fragment of undeath fall apart.
Amadi and Gabriel are target by the same kind of… thing that was hurled against the rogue, but the human deflect it with a shove of his elbow. The Aasimar, however, feel things will be different. For a moment his senses are heightened by adrenaline and he knows for a fact that much like Sylvio earlier, he wouldn't be able to evade. But then still he tries to move out of the way, with faith and determination. His spirit is rewarded as fate itself seems to help, and he successfully avoid being imprisoned.
Sweeps starts his onslaught and the cleric warrior follow suit. The barbarian misses his second attack but still the effort of the two adventurers is noticeable. The amalgamation of corpses started to show signs of collapse - a couple of heads and a few limbs, all humanoid, poured into the ground together with a vile ichor. The stench, gods, was dreadful, but signalized victory. With a wail the zombie recognizes the disciple of Gond as the larger threat, not only because of his size, but also because he imparted more damage out of the two, the zombie releases an offensive. Two slamming strikes, violent and harder to avoid given the flanking provided by the other undead.
Notes: I have updated the map in the Roll20 game. The zombies are now numbered, the dice rolls will be made on a soon following post and in case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Everyone, the Undead I is starting to look rough. @Althax, at the start of his turn Sylvio takes 10 bludgeoning damage and recovers 6hp. He also manages to deal just enough damage (Sunny attacks made the difference) to kill the flesh emtombing him (Sylvio is free to move). @Jynne, it is now Sunny's turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pleased with the collapse of the undead mass, then with a silent apology to Sylvio, Sunny shifts the healing spirit to Amadi seeing the blows dealt against him. Mixed between aiding and attacking she decides on the former making use of her healing skills. Ducking in to bandage and stem the flow of blood from Amadi's injuries. His clerical skills being put to better use against the undead than in trying to survive his injuries.
1 of healing from the tortle-like spirit to Amadi
15 of healing to Amadi for healer's feat (one use per person per short rest 1d6+4+their HD)
Ever aware of the skies for crows. BA to move the spirit, action for feat, movement to Amadi
Sudden and violent the blows of the undead hit Amadi. The heavy strikes send waves through his entire body and the world goes dark before he can even feel the pain. The other four adventurer’s watch as the giant of their ally is battered but stand his ground between to mountains of corpses. Sunny is the first to react, commanding her spirit to approach and offer healing to the child of Gond. Gasping for air, Shadeflame feels the warm energy from the fae. His body feels heavy and a familiar, metallic taste, blood, takes his mouth. Pain runs through his bones and even the act of breathing feels like a chore.
Maybe it was because she noticed, even for afar, how much damage the cleric warrior suffered, but the ranger approached and used her own healing abilities. Not through magic, but through medicine. Fast and skilled, she close wounds and move dislocated bones back into place. It was so effective that she could almost hear a song of victory. Almost. In reality, the only thing she heard was the screech of the crow that advances against her. Fortunately, too far to attack immediately.

@Everyone but @Paladin, roll a perception check. DC 16. If your character have Passive Perception of 16 or more, you are automatically successful in the check. @Everyone, the crow was clearly going to attack Sunny, but because of the difficult terrain provided by the squares the zombies occupy it simply had no movement for that. Your characters all notice that and that on its next action the crow is likely to attack the tortle. @Paladin, Amadi has 19 HP. @Jynne, your Healing Spirit have one more healing before dissipating. @Gunner, it is now Sweeps turn.
