Klin nods and takes off at an above average pace toward the tower. Ilam pushes the doors which creak heavily as they swing inwards to reveal a ruined and desecrated shrine. The interior of the shrine has the appearance of having been abandoned after some sort of terrible confrontation years ago. Broken benches with shredded cushions are overgrown by thick fungi, and four large mirrors hanging on the walls have been shattered, leaving the stone floor covered in shards of broken glass. A grime-encrusted statue of Sune stands against the far wall. The statue’s expression might once have suggested smiling laughter, but streaks of dirt now make it appear as though she is weeping. The rest of you head up stairs to the second floor. The room Sanza erupted from remains open and you enter into a strange combination of squalor and art. Piles of straw and moth-eaten blankets have been set up in this area as rough beds, and broken furniture and garbage is scattered around. A decrepit, weak dragonborn lies dead on one of the straw beds his scales and face badly burned in acid. In contrast to the floor at least a hundred maybe more fine paintings hang along the curved outer wall and suspended from the ceiling. She looks deep in thought. "Tri, do you have the energy left to dispel magic? Perhaps Pardot could channel power into your spell, enhancing your magic with his own..."
"You want to just try now? I would at least like to try an Identify spell first. I will cast that as a ritual to see what we are dealing with. Then we could try to Dispell." Triäsa explains. "Enhancement could help if it is a particularly powerful spell."

((crazy busy couple of days. I'll be able to give more detail after the weekend))
Ludolf you walk through the shrine with Ilam. Each step you take you hear a strange crunching sounds under your feet. It's very very dark in the shrine with the only light coming in from a hole in the roof. You definitely don't hear any snakes but as you get closer to the other end you start to hear the soft sounds of weeping. Ilam moves quickly to the statue and the stairs that are behind it. "She is down here. I know it. Come let's go." He turns to the stairs and calls down once again, "Sylvarie, this nightmare is over. It is your friend Ilam and I have another, new friend with me. We are coming down!" He then starts his descent into a very dark stair way.
Continuing on up the stairs to the scene of the crime you search beings! Daventry turn the hag corpses over and start rooting through their grimy bodies and clothing. Morgana's dirty and tattered clothing leave little to the imagination and even less to hide in pockets but just as you are about to turn Greenbones you note that one of the bones in her hair isn't quite right. There is a perfectly round defect in the bone that looks like it would pull apart. Curious you grab the bone and yank it apart. Inside is a very small, worn scroll that again has infernal markings.
Confident that Morgana's body holds no other secrets you turn your attention to Auntie Greenbones. You search and search and search but it appears that this hag has nothing of value on her at all.
The remaining contents of the room include a number of crates, untanned hides which hang from the large bone bed along the west wall and the corpse of Morty, the hell hound. The crates contain a significant amount plain clothing, a few common weapons most of which are broken and rusted pieces of armor. None of it is particularly valuable or remarkable. In the bottom of the last crate, however, you find a scroll case and inside is a fine parchment with clearly arcane properties. You take a passing glance at Morty and notice he is wearing a deep red leather collar.
Triäsa is about halfway through her ritual when you finish your first sweep through the room. At this point a Klin, huffing and out of breath comes bursting through the door at the top of the tower. "They went inside. The door was open and the goo had fallen off the Shrine. I was going to hit him with my book but Ludolf told me not to and come get you all. I ran as fast as I could."He looks at Triäsa as she is singing and squints, "Triäsa looks busy but maybe we should go back the two of them up?"
"I'm sorry Ilam, but I can't even see where I'm going in this darkness."He mutters in a lowered voice to the barber in front of him. "Yes Sylvarie, my name is Ludolf Crowley, I am here with others from Candlekeep, we want to help you. The foul hags that painted you and turned you into what you are now is no more and we will soon be able to help you to lift the curse they have put on you by destroying the painting they had of you. Let us keep it dark and cosy for now and just speak as friends so noone have to be turned into stone." He calls out down the stairs, but waits at the top of them ready to leave should things turn ugly. "Make sure to not look at her now okay." He says to Ilam as he disappears down the stairs.
Persuasion to keep things friendly: 14 Another roll if help from Ilam: 14
Daventry curses. "Beshaba's bust, of course they did." She ponders a moment, a bit of anger in her voice. "I told them to give us time, and they've thusly told me to piss off. The answer is here, if we rush to help them one by one we'll end up adding to the statue garden."
Daventry's eyes had been drawn to Morty's collar, and with the scroll case and strange bone in one hand she walks over to unbuckle it and examine it.
She walks over to Triäsa as she sings her spell, motioning for Klin and Pardot to follow, and lays out all the stuff she's found - swords, the armor, the bone, the scroll case, anything else. "Triäsa, might need to hurry up, we're short on time and about to be short a Ludolf and Ilam..."
She looks over the parchment from the scroll case, trying to determine if she recognizes its arcane function, while hoping Triäsa can read the strange runes on everything else.
You descend down into the darkness. Drops of water splashing softly and accompany the soft gentle sobbing. Both sounds grow louder the further down you proceed. Perhaps surprisingly when you reach the bottom you find the area dimly illuminated by a soft white glow rising from the bottom of a square pool set into the floor of this chamber. Torn cushions, rugs, tapestries, and clothing have been piled in one corner as a makeshift bed, while twigs and scraps of deadfall form a simple campfire nearby.
A women, the source of the sobbing, is kneeling with feet underneath her in the corner. Her back is towards you as she cries into her hands. On top of her head you see the tell tale sign of a medusa, a writhing mass of snakes sits upon her head.
Hearing you enter her chamber she calls out in a desperate and sad voice, "You are years late Ilam. My life and beauty ruined by insecurity and a lack of faith in Sune. I shall wallow here in misery until the sun grows cold. In the darkness no one can see the horror I have become" She slowly stands and turns to face you both... but first... She takes a strip of cloth and covers her eyes tying it tightly behind her head. "But you are correct stranger" she says as she slowly turns and faces Ludolf, "No one need turn to stone, yet. Speak your peace."
Daventy's instincts prove flawless. Taking the collar off the dog and inspecting it you again see the infernal script etched into the underside of the leather. Unfortunately the bone case is rather unremarkable in terms of magic. It appears to be nothing more than a clever means to hide a bit of paper. The paper itself is nothing more than paper with scribblings of infernal.
Triäsa -- Identifying this painting is no trivial task. You spend your 10 minutes magical probing and prodding the object and learn a number of interesting things. The painting is some sort of prison for a soul or essence. It is definately something that can be destroyed which will release the imprisoned essence and you are sure this will restore whatever was affected by the creation. You identify the spell protecting the painting as a strong enchantment that has no name that you are aware of. As focus your abilities on the spell affecting the object looking for weaknesses and cross referencing this with your studies and what you know of hags and their magics you have an idea.
Some legends say hags came from the Feywild but over eons became corrupted and twisted. As they walked farther and father down the path of cruelty their magic and rituals also strayed from that of the fey and hag magic became it's own powerful but cruel entity. You are not sure, and as far as you know it's never been tested, but possibly the blood of a powerful Fey might be enough to momentarily disrupt the magic protecting the painting allowing you access to the canvas underneath.
"I am sorry you had to suffer this cruelty for so long Sylvarie, but there is still hope, you still have loyal and caring friends, like Ilam here. He risked his life coming here to save you, and I'm convinced he didn't do so because of the beauty you once possessed. It is not too late for you to return to a life in the light together with people who don't care for your appearance. My associates are working on lifting the curse you have been afflicted with and I'm sure they will find a solution within long. If you prefer it you can both stay down here and catch up and I can send down someone with something to eat and drink." Ludolf explains calmly and compassionately.
Triäsa tries to relay the information she has learned. "The painting does have some sort of spell protecting it. I have an idea - the blood of a powerful Fey might be enough to disrupt the protective magic. That would allow us to then destroy the canvass of the painting." She glances over at Daventry, "Not sure where we get Fey blood. Maybe the hags kept some? Or... do you think the hag blood itself might do it?" She then continues her explanation, "The painting is a prison of sorts for an essence of a soul. Destroying the painting would certainly release that, undoing whatever had been done."
