As everyone heads on, Triäsa decides she should probably set the letter opener back down where she found it. She puzzles a bit over the 'y'. 'Probably this was a gift to Fistandria, but who would the 'y' be?'she thinks. (Arcana or History - same bonus - to try to see if she recollection any famous wizard names starting with 'y': 24)
Once the door to the porch is opened, she heads out there. She is a bit entranced by the purple miasma and takes a quick moment to look out over it. She then gives the area a survey for any books. (Investigation: 20)
Triäsa you know that there are two well known names that feature a Y. Yanseldara, a former adventurer who now rules Elversult. There is also the archmage Yusendre though she has not been seen for many years. Obviously there might be numerous lesser known students/mages you would not be familiar with.
I think Ludolf being a student of planar travel would know that he is from another plane and is known to travel them but I don't think he would know the names if that makes sense.
Neither of you find any books or anything of value on the deck. The miasma gives you a very unsettling feeling when you gaze into it. You feel as though you are staring into the void. There is nothing on the horizon just swirls of black and purple as far as you can see capped by the odd night sky.

As the others deal with the books in this room, Pardot stares off into the void in a short meditation. A night without stars is something he has never even imagined before. Once the others are ready to move on he follows along, keeping his eyes open for anything moving when it shouldn’t be, considering that everything seems weird here.

When satisfied there are no books to be found Ludolf too stands looking out into the void-like miasma, seemingly quite comfortable and even fascinated by it. "The Void, the final destination of my existence." He says to himself. "But I´m not quite ready with this mortal flesh " He adds and looks at the others. "Shall we continue upstairs?" "Sure, I think we are going to need a few more letters before we figure out the command word. And... well, I for one would like to see the rest of this place." Triäsa follows Ludolf and the others to head up the stairs. (Perception: 7)
Klin stares into the void trying to glean any knowledge from the swirling abyss trying to tap into the arcane, or what he thinks are arcane forces that surround it. The more you focus and stare the less you seem to remember; the less you seem to be aware of your surroundings and start lose even your sense of self trying to puzzle out nature of the swirling miasma.
You get the feeling it might be nice to just jump off the balcony and fall into the void... become one with the nothingness... Your body edges closer to the railing.... and the Triäsa's voice rings out into your mind snapping you from the brink of madness. You feel strange like your body is not yours and you don't know your place in the universe anymore. Klin make a DC15 wisdom save (careful how much try to learn from the void :) ) On a fail you will have disadvantage on all wisdom based checks until your next long rest.
The rest of you ascend the fine wooden staircase to the second floor. At the top of the steps you see a clearly decorative suit of armor holding a elegant but nonfunctional sword with point down on the ground and shield clasped in front of it. Above the armor Pardot notices a small trap door that appears to led up into an attic or perhaps some sort of crawl space. To the right is a door with is cracked open and leads to a short hallway very similar to the on you saw in the basement with doors to the south and further east. There is also a door to the west at the top of the staircase. Pockets the cat joins you as you climb the stairs. She goes through the door to the east and sits down in front of the most eastern door and begins meowing loudly at the door. As she does so Pardot again hears very faintly the sounds feet through the door to the east and perhaps scratching?

Pardot points out the trap door above, and then pauses for a second as Pocket's meows out, giving her a quick scratch on the head. He then holds a hand up for quiet as he puts his ear to the door listening more closely, indicating to the others that there is likely something behind for anyone else to join and help listen through.

"Is Pockets telling us to go in there? We could give Daventry a break and someone else open the door this time." Triäsa heads into the short hallway and comes up to the door. As she gets closer and sees Pardot listening, she quiets down and tries to listen as well. (Perception: 18)
Pardot and Triäsa hunker down and listen quietly but only Pardot hears the gentle footfalls from the other side. To him it sounds like there are multiple creatures moving about the room as the feet move he hears gentle clicking of nails or claws on the wooden floors.
Klin opens the door and is quickly and suddenly overwhelmed as the creatures rush at him the very moment the door is opened. Cats, there are cats everywhere. Five then ten, maybe 15 of all shapes, size with a variable amount of cuteness all rush past through the open door and gracefully fling themselves downstairs. They look hungry and you suspect Coriander and Cumin will be very busy for the foreseeable future as they satisfy the needs of the army of fur you just released.
Beyond the door you can peer into the room. It appears you have found the master bedroom of the manor. The room is open and airy with a canopied bed with rich scarlet curtains occupies one corner. A jug and a washbasin stand on top of a chest of drawers. There is fur everywhere along the bed as the it appears the cats had made this their base of operation while in the room. One wall is covered with a large painting of a gold dragon perched heroically on a mountaintop.
Listening closely to the door Pardot is caught off guard as the door suddenly opens in front of him. About to lose his balance forward he suddenly sees the hurricane of fur headed his way and instead falls back, only to be trampled by hungry cats. Chuckling to himself as he stands up and brushes off the fur and noticing a couple scratches on his arms he looks down to Pocket and as the others begin to search the room takes 10 minutes playing with the patient cat, again ritually casting speak with animals. Once the spell is complete he looks down to the chubby girl at his side and says, in Druidic, "You didn't tell me there were so many more of your friends here! They must be hungry! Are there any more friendly creatures here that might surprise us?"
He then looks up to the rest of the group and adds, "Our mage must not have been gone long if those poor things haven't starved to death. We may have arrived just in time. Clearly our Avowed friend was not concerned with the other beings in here..."

Triäsa, standing just behind Pardot, moves back a step and brings her hand to her sword hilt as the cats rush out. She is clearly startled, but quickly recovers to peer into the room and then step inside. She starts to look about, especially looking for books and letters on the spine. She decides to start with the chest of drawers, then to continues searching the room. (Investigation: 11)

"More vermin." Ludolf mutters and sighs heavily as the flood of cats rushes past his feet. "I don't think Matreous ever made it upstairs Pardot. From what we heard he seemed to have been occupied with trying random passwords to get back to Candlekeep." Ludolf says to the halfling as he follows Triäsa into the room. "And I´m not sure how long he would have lasted against the adversaries in this place." He adds starting his investigation of the master bedroom beginning with the painting as Triäsa seems to have the rest covered. Investigation:16 History:21
Pockets looks you and is very satisfied with herself, "I think that's everyone. You met the homunculi, the little dragons, the broom and that one freed my friends!" She nods her head toward Klin. "Let him know we are grateful for his help opening the door. The other are calling him the Savior! If you all wouldn't mind just keeping it open the bed in here is soooo cozy...." She hops up on the bed stretches' out then rolls onto her back.
Meanwhile, Triäsa moves past the conversation and spend sometime exploring the bedroom. You check the drawers and find a number of robes that would fit a small human child (or average gnome). They are a variety of colors some are quite ornate others are rather plain but all of them are finely made. Near the bed you see a few nightstands again well crafted out of wood. Ludolf looking around it seems to be a pretty unremarkable room. It's nice the furniture is well crafted but it all seems so boring. The painting does appear more interesting however as you look it over you find it be fairly generic though made by an artist with at least moderate amount of skill. It does not depict any historical event or dragon that you are aware, Just another idealized recreation of the glory and majesty of a dragon.
Across the room are large french doors which swing outward to a small balcony that holds a single chair table. If the house were not embedded in a sea of madness it might be a very nice place to sit and read. After a complete search by Triäsa there are no books out here.

But would Ludolf know then that Mordenkainen, along with Vecna, is from Oerth (The World of Greyhawk)?
