Velan returned to his senses telepathically commanding Ninlil to warn him if something, anything, approached the group. In the ground, Magwynn had hit her shot and the bloodied quary moved divided from the herd. Spix suggests following it and with that he agreed, although not for worrying about the suffering of the beast. In his mind wounded pray would simply be easier to hunt. It would leave a trail that in the white tapestry that covered the ground shouldn’t be hard to follow. It would resist a smaller number of hits and maybe even be slower.
“I cannot speak for the others, but I’m afraid in my lose the pray if I try following the tracks.” He spoke soon after Zin made his question. The hexblood wouldn’t enjoy the feeling of wasting the team’s effort.“My magic is probably not suitable to strike the creature either. It may damage the meat, so I’m trusting you guys in this one.”
It was the course of action that made more sense in Velan’s mind. He wanted to ask if they would be able to follow the rest of the herd later but thought it better leaving such discussion for later. Now they had to move, find their quarry before they could lost it.
“I’ll be back in the skies. If you want to strike, Sohk, tap my arm you will be free of having to guide me. By the way, thanks for the guidance.”
As he thanked the monk the wizard once again started watching through his familiar’s eyes, his body following the party.
As the wounded deer scatters while the other deer run in the opposite direction Zin and Davis manage to lose track temporary seeing which way it ran. The eye's from the sky however manage to circle where the wounded deer went as the team continues to follow the deer for a mile. Then close in as it tires out and stops to catch it's breath.
OOC:
Now that you see how to engage lets start with the lead current trackers who are heading the group and work down please.
The deer currently has one wound. Needs 2 more wounds to be taken down.
OOC: To be clear. You have all ready found the deer as it paused. You all ready moved with in 50 ft once again of the deer. Just like you did before. Now your choice to attack it using the rules of hunting or do something else. So in other words shoot it or engage it by stealth check getting into melee. Or do something else.
Just as everybody scrambles to get into position the long bow shot from Spix hits the mark taking the deer down. It falls over towards the right side near a snow bank and lays there.
OOC: Were now out of combat. Lets proceed forward.
spix says “and how comes the part where we have to field-dress the deer, I guess? I always think of people putting clothes on them when I hear that term.” She giggles.
"Not quite, Spix." Magwynn pauses. "Well, maybe it's a bit like removing an under-layer without taking off your topmost layers. Still. Who else has experience with field dressing? We can split that between the experienced people, for now. Maybe whatever we catch last we can use as a lesson for everyone new."
