Baral curiously gazes at the halfling. 

"You look like an interesting contestant. A team? It would be nice to have some support. What's your name?"

“Giancarlo rumawits! But you can call me gin rummy! A team would be fantastic! What’s your name?”

Gin jumps up and does a flip as he says his name

“Do ya know when the next match is supposed to happen? I’m itching for a little combat! Wanna spar while we wait? I wanna see if you are actually good at what you do and aren’t all talk. I’m sure your not though, not with those swords you got there! Ahahaha!”

Baral smiles as he listens to the lively halfling. 

"Gin Rummy? That's a fine name. I am Baral- a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You would like to spar? Sure thing. What are the rules that we should decide on?" 

He laughs and says 

“well, I say nothing deadly. If we’re going to team up, probably shouldn’t go and kill each other. Also, if it looks like one of us is gettin pretty beat up, we should probably call it good. We want to be in tip top shape going into this. But besides that, I say bring it!” He pauses for a minute, then says “by the way, I suggest not trying to block my fists with your face. Just a soaring tip I got from my monastic mentor. Man could that guy throw a punch!”

Baral laughs. 

"Let's begin, then! I'd like to see what you can do." 

Initiative: 4

“Wooo! That’s what I’m talking about!”

Initiative: 20

(All damage during this will be non lethal. Just saying.) 

Action:Unarmed strike 19 to hit 7 damage 

bonus: patient defense (dodge)

Move:10ft back

(Got it. No one's dying today! Attack hits.)

Baral takes quite the hit from the halfling. 

"Wow, you have some power! Unfortunately, that isn't happening again."

Baral uses a bonus action to begin Bladesong and draws both rapiers, increasing AC by +4. He advances up to Gin Rummy, his hawk swooping to use the Help action, canceling out the disadvantage. 

Attack: 25 Damage: 13

He looks up at you, a glint in his eye

”I knew you would be good!”

bonus: Step of the wind (disengage)

Move 20 ft back

Then radiant sun bolt as an action

 17 to hit 5 damage 

Didn’t purposely manipulate, typed 12 instead of 20 for the sun bolt

(That's alright...attack misses anyways. 21 AC lol). 

Baral narrowly dodges the sun bolt. 

"A fellow magician! Always great to meet one. What other tricks do you know?"

Baral moves up to GIn Rummy again, attacking with both rapiers. His bird grants him advantage on the first attack. 

Attack: 20 Damage: 7

Attack: 12 Damage: 8

“Not a mage, the monks use their souls rather than the arcane. I have a few more tricks though!”

he looks pretty hurt but doesn’t show it on his face. (Pretty hurt meaning 4/21 hp left)

unarmed strike 18 to hit 7 damage 

unarmed strike 21 to hit 6 damage 

The third strike hits Baral, who's looking a bit worse for wear. 

"Not a mage? Sorry for getting it wrong. However, I have respect for anyone who can bend the elements like you can!"

Baral uses his Second Wind as a bonus action to regain some health. 5

(Sorry, the modifier should only be +1. Still, 11 health back is pretty good). 

He sheathes one of his rapiers, freeing up the other for a reaction spell if needed. Then, he strikes with his other rapier, advantage from bird. 

Attack: 25 Damage: 15

As you hit him, he hits a knee and says

”ooofff! You got me pretty good!”

then he falls unconscious

( he had 4 health left)

Baral leans over the halfling and administers a healing potion to him.

"That was quite the fight! Thanks for the sparring with me." 

He jumps up in a flip and lands in the splits. He then gets up and shakes his hand and says

”that was impressive! You do some good hits with those fancy shmancy swords on your back! I’d be glad for your help! That kind of BANG! KAPOW! Is something I could use i the colosseum! How would you like to team up? Even, 50/50 split of any winnings?”

he then chugs his potion of healing 5

Baral thinks for a moment, then smiles. 

"Sure thing! Perhaps we should work together. We could make a great team."

(Am currently already in a match, but we could do one together after that one finishes). 

(I don’t believe pre-made teams are allowed in official matches.  Could be wrong.)
