Shrek's primacy is breathtaking, shocking Sandre visibly. His furious attacks have the creature on the brink of death, and fuelled by his own outrage Randall finishes the beast off with sword through its exposed beetle mouth.
Ankita, not believing thr terrifying thing to be dead smashes it's dead corpse with her club, sending more green viscera everywhere.

Olaerys looks at the creature’s body and says, “Sick people, who would alter its body so, make it a murdering machine for their pleasure!” and he quickly moves, bends down by Qarbo’s body and searches him, looking for any keys or items of interest. He says “The guards ran out this eastern door to go warn Hellenrae. We need to find somewhere to hide and rest so that we can recover. Where should we go? I think we should clear out of this room immediately!”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Panting, Shrek manages to squeak out in a low baritone "Sure thing boss...where to?" He then kneels down and picks up the artificial claw, and takes it with him wherever they go. Hoping to use it as a makeshift weapon, or just to intimidate anyone they encounter who might recognize it for what it is.

While the group decides their next move, Randall moves toward the door where the guards escaped and looks through to see what's on the other side, then closes it. Perception: 12
As he stands watch near the door, he voices a concern. "Qarbo told us the delegates had gone downstairs. Was he lying to us? Or... was that a colorful way of telling us he fed them to that monster?"

The claw can be fastened to your arm and act as a slashing melee weapon. 2d8+str Damage. It takes ten minutes to fasten or unfastened the claw so it is secure enough to use as a weapon and that hand cannot be used for grasping or holding while it is fastened.

A walled garden shelters beneath the northern wall of the monastery. The garden is poorly kept, although some effort has been made to clear footpaths through the overgrowth. A garden gate to the northeast leads outside. Three doors open into the monastery at the southeast, south, and western side of the garden (where you are). The statues in the garden are particularly lifelike.

OOC: Assume Shrek spends the next 10 minutes strapping the new Umber Hulk claw on, as the group walks to wherever we're heading next.
OOC: I just spent half an hour trying to create a homebrew weapon for the claw. DND Beyond's homebrew tool stinks. You have to base a weapon off of an existing weapon. There aren't any base weapons that are 2d8 damage! I finally figured out I'd base it off of a greatsword (1d8 damage), but give it the versatile property (2 handed causes it to be 2d8 damage) and tell it to ignore the 2 handed property. Viola! 2d8 damage, one handed! Don't know why they make the homebrew tool so difficult.
Randall continues to speculate. "And why did that Qarbo guy panic and run like that? Sure, the monster was ugly, but it was a pushover. I don't even have a scratch!"

’We got lucky with it, I think - if it hadn’t been blinded quickly we’d have had more of a fight on our hands…’
The durability of the carapace surprises you; its a wonder you were able to kill it as quickly as you did. 2 of the four eyes appear to have been removed, not blinded in a fight. It seems that Qarbo disabled the beast for their own safety to keep it as a 'pet'.
Olaerys bends down and searches Qarbo, looking to see if he has anything useful, anything of note that would help them. "I need a rest, don't know about the rest of you, but I have no idea where we can do that safely. Any minute they are going to come pouring in here...."
