Pal, you catch a glimpse of the gray skinned girl as she recedes out of sight in the reflection. In a moment she is gone and you’re staring at your own reflection, your face split into two unaligned halves from a crack in the mirror. The whiskers of your reflection are aged and droopy, and there is rather more gray fuzzy hair emerging from your reflection’s ears. Otherwise the mirror seems unremarkable and quite solid.
The halfling allows Davis to carry him out, getting the better of his emotions. “I think you saved me from something… I felt like I was having a dream… There was a talking pig, it asked me if I had any regrets, and said that if I did, it knew someone who could help me, I just had to follow the pig… But listen to me babble, goodness me, I suppose I’m just flustered because of how Ween reacted… My heart’s desire, wow that’s a good one, maybe I should have said that… you think she laughed because it was a spell? My name’s Rubin by the way!” He’s really warming up quick!
Emerging from the Hall of Illusions, you see Candlefoot franticly trying to distract and otherwise occupy Ween, who has stopped her involuntary laughter and now appears quite distraught. Candlefoot is prancing around her doing mime-y things but there’s too much desperation in his movement for it to appear lighthearted or fun. When he sees you come out with Rubin he smacks his forehead in a signal of great relief and opens his arms wide to you in greeting.
Viola follows Davis and Rubin out again. When the young couple meets again she plays a romantic folk song on her violin in the background to set the mood for a proposal.
"Thanks for keeping her busy." Davis says to the clown as he sets the halfling down on his feet. "Now get to it, I think your lass will be more than happy with that question you wanted to ask..." He pushes the little man towards his would-be betrothed.
Candlefoot beams as Rubin and Ween are reunited, hugging and chattering each other, each asking if the other is alright, each trying to explain their actions to the other, all at more or less the same time, and yet understanding seems to be conveyed, perhaps more through their shared emotions and tones. Then Rubin, with a bit of a dramatic flourish that is only somewhat ruined by his blushing, foolish grin, again gets down on one knee and pulls a small box from his waistcoat. Inside the box is a small glittering ring, which Ween happily accepts and the two embrace. Then they begin to dance in time to Viola’s accompaniment, lost in each other’s eyes. Candlefoot claps with glee and prances around the pair for a bit, then approaches each of you for a hearty two-handed handshake of gratitude (instead patting Viola on the back, trying not to disturb her playing). Then he puts his hands on his hips and surveys the scene proudly.
After a while Viola leaves the happy couple to themselves and turns to the clown. "Now Candlefoot we need to know please, if you can't tell then show." She rhymes, hoping for some helping pantomime.
"I hope we are not expected to pay for that mirror..." Calanon mutters as he catches the tail end of the events, slowly giving a shrug before turning to leave as the others start to exit the Hall of Illusions once more.
"We are planning on meeting up with Burly at the bigtop in a bit, but hope to have time to meet a certain mermaid prior to that." He looks to his companions. "It would be nice to meet this other Burly suggested as part of our effort at the bigtop, so I hope it is good with you all to go their prior to returning to the bigtop..." If they agree, then he asks the clown for directions to the mermaid Burly mentioned.
At the mention of the mermaid, Candlefoot's eyes light up and he clutches his hands to his heart. He acts as though he's going to swoon. He quickly puts a sign on the Hall of Illusions "Out of Order - Do Not Enter." Then he does several cartwheels in the direction of Silversong lake and excitedly beckons you to follow.
Silversong Lake
Mist gathers at the banks of the shimmering lake. Near its center, a mermaid lounges in a giant bowl, singing a glorious, haunting song that captivates spectators on the lakeshore. In response, the lake water coalesces into magical sculptures that whirl around her as she performs. Candlefoot eagerly mimes putting his hands to his ears, then pointing out to the mermaid, then doing the heart-clutching swooning action again with an expression of bliss on his face. Then he eagerly stands and watches the mermaid with more of his attention. You notice that as he does so, his monochromatic appearance becomes flush with coloration, so that he appears more vibrant and hale.
This happy scene is spoiled by an apparent heckler in the crowd. You hear someone loudly shout out in the direction of the lake, "Boring! Know any real songs?"
A few moments later, someone else shouts out a loud "Boo!"
Viola looks dismayed over the heckling and tries her best to cheer the mermaid on. "Fantabulous, you are wonderful you, bravo, bravo bravissimo." She rhymes loudly and enthusiastically.
"Best find whomever is doing that and put a stop to it." Davis says with a frown, moving into the crowd and looking around to try to spot the figures in question...
Davis and Calanon move among the crowd, scanning. Calanon is the one to spot a person he recognizes, the skinny human girl with red freckles and red hair braided into pigtails, dressed in blue overalls. (see post #58)
She is unaware of you. Even as you spot her, you observe as she puts her hands to her mouth and bellows out in a low man’s voice that certainly does not match her body type:
“Hey fish-face, why don’t you get a real job!”
Palasha falters in her beautiful music.
Candlefoot leaps to his feet, sudden anger in his eyes, holding up his fists as he looks around at the crowd. He’s not aware of the source of heckling.
Davis moves towards the latest sound, still scanning. he would look to any of his companions close by, "Did anyone see who called that last?" he would ask.
Calanon will walk over to the girl and put his hand on her shoulder lightly. "I am already in a rather sour mood. The singing is helping it while you ruin it. Why don't you be quiet before I tell the nice jester over there that you are interrupting things."

Calanon moves to find the heckler as well, pausing as he listens for the direct of the voice.

Davis moves towards the latest sound, still scanning. he would look to any of his companions close by, "Did anyone see who called that last?" he would ask.
Davis and Pal would more gradually close in on the proper area, towards Calanon.
Viola’s positive reinforcement proves infectious to the crowd around her, and they also cheer appreciatively.
Pal will follow Calanon.
Calanon will walk over to the girl and put his hand on her shoulder lightly. "I am already in a rather sour mood. The singing is helping it while you ruin it. Why don't you be quiet before I tell the nice jester over there that you are interrupting things."
Davis would move towards Calanon, seeing that he appears to have centered in on someone in particular. Davis moves to support him.
