Yulmiath claims the party's ransom and begins to swims toward his companions in a careful manner. With it in his hands, the dragonborn notices that the medallion is shaped like a human skull and that it emanates a faint magical aura. Any further conclusion would have to come after a more careful study of the item.
A little disappointed with how quickly the group was convinced to retreat, Hunswims towards the surface so he can breath once again. The kobold hears one more grunt of pain from the sea witch as Krodhen forcibly removes a javelin from her leg before swimming to reclaim a second one at the bottom of the ship compartment the hag calls her lair.
The hag then considers the half-orc's threat in combination with Kairus' request, both asking for information regarding the shipwrecks. Myldryd looks a bit annoyed at the additional request, which she sees as going beyond the agreement, but provides an answer nonetheless in hopes of speeding up the party's departure from her lair: "I briefly considered making the wreck of the Virago my lair, but was disappointed with what I found. There is nothing of value left in that ship, or signs of any survivors. If you want useful information, here it is: don't waste your time with that ship." She looks at Yulmiath and Hun already swimming away and says to the others: "Now, follow your friends and leave me be."
As he begins to swim away, Krodhen also claims the dead giant crab. Yet another meal shall be provided by the carcass of a defeated foe.

"Have the loveliest afternoon and may your gills never dry,"as far as Kairus was concerned, the outcome of this accident was positive, there was no need for any rudeness. He helped to push the body of the crab up and out of the water and in case hag's answer was in Aquan, translated/repeated it to those who did not hear. "The creature was honest in her deal and fear - believe me. I say seven out of ten we can trust her words about Virago. And we have some other ships to search anyway. So, a break?"Yulmiath's wounds certainly could use some care but Kairus was not sure about dranborn's determination.
Though seeming still a touch miffed by events, seeing the crab and knowing they would at least feed well for breakfast elicited at least brief smile of approval. "At least this wasn't an entire waste of time. Mr. Yully. Shame we couldn't find whatever chest or container that ugly arse sea witch dragged from up here though." He admits. At any look of confusion from the others, he roll his eyes before adding, "I found drag marks earlier in the dry sections. Looked like something heavy been moved of the maybe again chest variety. But we can forget trying to get it now, least she thought of something to take care of us good next time."
He then looks more pointedly to Yulmiath. "Anyhow, how much time you think we have before the tide rolls in?"

Once the party is back onto the dry portion of the ship, Hun expresses some discontent with not claiming whatever additional treasures Myldryd might have hidden away.
When asked to check on the tides, Yulmiath recalls that the next change seems to be neatly tied to the sunrise. He steps outside for a moment, looks at the horizon, and guesstimates than the group has another hour to go before the sun begins to rise. Of course, should the party decide to take a rest, it is unlikely the tide would wait on them.
As the group decides whether to rest or not, the dragonborn lets Myldryd's medallion dangle from his fingers and asks if anyone has any idea what it might do.

Hun toggles his goggles and waves Yulmiath over to let him study the item for at least a few moments. "Hm.. Interesting. Need more time though to know anything for sure. Noting the warning from Hun, Yulmiath tucks the medallion away for investigation at a later point.
"Getting somewhere safe seems like a sound idea."
Looking back up the cliff-face and then to the crab, he furrows his brow contemplating exactly how they are going to get that back up there. As he begins to speak again, Yulmiath takes a deep breath which sounds almost to the point of being ragged. He isn't someone used to thanking others for saving his arse, or being the one who needs their arse saving in the first place.
"Two points to make before we get going. One, I'm grateful to all of you that I get to be standing out here and not being prepared for lunch. Two, does anyone feel strong enough to make the climb with our lunch strapped to their back?"
Kairus was about to explain to scaly Hun that, if getting a few more scales is the worst that can happen, scaly dragonborn can probably handle it (not to mention, scales are hardly the bad thing in general!) when Yulmiath suggested leaving the place.
"Do we have to climb back? Some of these ships - or part of them - are above the water even in high tides as I recall. But if we have to, no need to strip anything to anyone - we simply tide the crab up and pull it, then throw back the rope to one left behind - probably me, as the safest option." With two ideas successfully shut down, Kairus felt his part of the work was done. "But you feel like your wounds would allow climbing now?"
Yul tilts his head considering Karius' suggestion. Waiting out the tide might be worthwhile, especially if it keeps them close to the other wrecks.
"We don't have to climb back up at all then, provided that whichever part of whichever wreck we pick to hide out on is dry. I feel well enough for a scramble up the cliff or up a ship, makes no odds in the end. We just need to hope that the sea-monster we warned about doesn't have a long neck or those grabby tentacles!"
Yulmiath laughs at his own joke, although that quickly dies down as he considers that long necks and grabby tentacles are exactly what sea-monsters have.
Hun returns Yulmiath's thank with a simple and curt nod. Just as he's about to answer the second question however, he turns sharply to Kairus, eyes narrowed in suspicion for just a moment. Did the Triton just look... smug there for a second? Was it something he said or hadn't said? Scale 'Rot' was a very serious curse if the stories were to be believed! Torn at that point between trying to assure himself of one matter while also keeping up with the conversation, it wasn't until Rhogal spoke that the Kobold finally shook in dismissal.
"No. We don't stick on any of the ships. Even if some are fine at high tide, that's inviting trouble. Not to mention most of us would be pretty darn monster bait if it decided to wreck the ship to get at us. Nevermind the bloody sharks, or other giant freaking crabs probably littering this area that can probably do just about the same... Giant... tasty... crunchy crabs..."His eyes glaze over and drool began to spill out of his mouth for just a moment or two.
"Mn... and shark fin soup too..." He mutters before seeming to come back to his senses. He again shakes his head, and light heartedly glares at just about everyone for mentioning crabs again. "Like Mr. Yully said anyways. He'll be fine. Just smash off the crab legs and and stuff them into my satchel here. Should lighten the load for when we pull it up. Now enough lolligagging. Sooner we get up top, the sooner you lot might get a chance to taste my brother's famous crab gumbo! So chop chop!"Hun holds out his bag in preparedness to help with packing away the legs. After which, assuming there's no more opposing opinion, he makes ready to climb up ahead of the others, determine to be as far away from a possible watery inconvenience sooner than later.
Now on the beach, the group compares the merits of retreating up the cliff with the convenience of taking refuge in a dry shipwreck. Hun says his piece and then excuses himself to scour the sand for usable debris. He is able to collect some driftwood but finds no metal pieces laying about. The tortles must have claimed all that could be qualified as easy pickings down here.
By the time Hun returns, Yulmiath and Kairus seem to have agreed on camping on a wreck, while Rhogal seems more concerned about bathing. The kobold puts his foot down, insisting that the group must climb back up to safety. Yulmiath's joke about long necks and tentacles seemingly suppports the artificer's take on the matter. After some of the crab legs are stuffed into his bag (of holding?) the kobold puts his money where his mouth is and begins climbing the rope. Eager to make a point, Hun makes the climb look easy.
The rest of the giant crab is tied up and ready to go.
(OOC: Those climbing up should roll an athletics check. Those staying down at the beach or in a dry wreck can just let me know they are doing so.)
Remembering his dip into fetid waters not all that long ago, Yulmiath scans the area for a patch of fresh water to attempt to clean himself up with. Whether he holds up on a wreck or at the top of the cliff, he'd rather not make it a hostile environment for whoever he's with.
After what at might be described as a stand up wash in a puddle (or in the surf if it is close enough) Yulmiath turns towards his next best decisions: cliff or wreck.
On the one hand, the climb to the top of the cliff seems a lot more daunting when looking up at it from the bottom. The climb up to a wreck is much easier.
On the one hand, the cliff likely won't see them attacked by whatever sea-monster haunts these wrecks at high tide. The sea-monster might not even show up if he perches on the wreck.
The clincher however, gumbo. It is damn good gumbo and he isn't missing out.
"You will want to get in on this. I have never not known the pot to be licked clean after it."
If Karius looks over, and if Yulmiath had a tail it would be tucked between his legs as he sidles up to the cliff face, still dripping from his attempt to wash the brackish water out of this clothes. Gripping the rope, he begins to climb...
"Seawater can cleanse anything!" Declared Kairus, diving a bit theatrically from the deck of hag's ship into the open ocean to wash off the stench of the monster's lair. With all the gesturing, though, he knew that what's good for a triton, might be taxing for a land-dwellers and did not insist on either staying on the wrecks or washing in the sea. Suum cuique, as they say. Besides, a new recipe sounded very promising - somehow in the short time, when Hun and Kairus sailed together, the crab gumbo never came up and the triton was eager to try it.
"Ah, good!" Fresh as a sea anemone, Kairus emerged on the beach and helped with, first, transportation of the crab pieces, and then tried to transport himself up the cliff.
Rhogal's suggestion grows on the others, who opt for a quick wash in the cold ocean water. The added promise of gumbo then seems to bring the group to a similar decision to the one Hun had made. Soon Kairus and Yulmiath make their way up the cliff, with the rest of the giant crab in tow.
(OOC: I'll assume Krodhen and Rhogal will choose to keep the party together.)
Although it takes a bit for everyone to make their way up, soon enough they are all reunited atop the cliff. Eeyal can't help but wake up with all the ruckus, claiming she was all but done with sleep for the night anyhow. "I see you brought a hearty breakfast with you."She points to the makeshift smokehouse and comments: "Even though we have plenty of food already. You may call yourselves explorers, but you sure eat like nobility." She begins to add wood to the fire: "Go on now. Tell me about your early morning exploration."
Yulmiath would know that the incoming high tide is expected to recede at around noon. Right now, you are just shy of dawn.
(OOC: You are welcome to start a short rest now, whether it last 1 or 6 hours. It has been only a few hours since you finished a long rest, so you may not yet benefit from another one, but a short rest is fine. )
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With the campfire fuelled, Yumiath will remove his wet clothes and lay them on a nearby rock to dry. The warmth of the fire and of the rising sun should keep him warm enough, especially as he keeps his cloak wrapped about himself.
"So there's something living down beneath one of the wrecks and she don't take kindly to visitors. You can smell the decay coming off her lair before you enter it. Might be worth warning some of the other Tortles on the island lest they become her breakfast like I nearly did."
Yul shivers at the thought before offering a question back to Eeyal and the rest of the group;
"If we're waiting out high tide, there anything up here might take our interest for an hour or three?"
(OOC - Yul will roll one both of his hit die for 15 hp... And 6 hp. And 6 from Song of Rest - much obliged.)
"Like the breakfast, you mean?" Kairus was half-joking - the cooking and properly enjoying the gumbo would take at least two hours. Though he understood the restlessness of the Dragonborn and even somewhat shared it. At the moment, however, he could channel his creative energy into something else - telling the story. And he did! "There we were, bravely diving in the foulest waters you ever smelled, to search for the lost treasures - and the clues about the tragic fate of our comrade, of course. We saw a dead human woman, already decaying... Just a floating corpse, yet another sad victim claimed by the sea. Moved by the obvious desire to find as much as we can about the victim and bring the sad news to her relatives if we can, we tried to get closer and take a look at the medallion around her neck, when suddenly the corpse opened her eyes, turned into a creature as ugly as the waters around her was smelly - and attacked!"
The heroic battle in Keirus's interpretation probably looked a bit too heroic, was missing a couple of insults, and did not include discussion of finishing the hag off and search for her treasure, that she collected from the ships around, but had the main pieces in place. Most importantly, it emphasized the presence of a dangerous monster in a specific ship and the ways, the hag used to lure her victims in.
(Yulmiath can add 1d6 to his HD for the Song of Rest)
Hun scoffed at the comparison to nobility, and yet couldn't help grin just a little after for however long it took to get settled by the fire. From there he pulled out the crab legs from his bag of holding, as well all the other accoutrements for the spread soon to be cooked and prepped for the day, leaving the others to fill in Eeyal.
"Ah shoot. No pot. Hmn. Whatever. Always have plan B."He said in a mixture of mutters and just barely comprehensible words, before fussing with his shield, adjusting its components and removing others so that it would function as a makeshift Wok. Things do not get much easier from there, leaving the kobold so preoccupied that eventually the conversation mostly becomes just white noise for the little draconic fellow.

"So there's something living down beneath one of the wrecks and she don't take kindly to visitors. You can smell the decay coming off her lair before you enter it. Might be worth warning some of the other Tortles on the island lest they become her breakfast like I nearly did."
Yul shivers at the thought before offering a question back to Eeyal and the rest of the group;
"If we're waiting out high tide, there anything up here might take our interest for an hour or three?"

oneboth of his hit die for 15 hp... And 6 hp. And 6 from Song of Rest - much obliged.)"Like the breakfast, you mean?" Kairus was half-joking - the cooking and properly enjoying the gumbo would take at least two hours.

"Ah shoot. No pot. Hmn. Whatever. Always have plan B." He said in a mixture of mutters and just barely comprehensible words, before fussing with his shield, adjusting its components and removing others so that it would function as a makeshift Wok. Things do not get much easier from there, leaving the kobold so preoccupied that eventually the conversation mostly becomes just white noise for the little draconic fellow.
