“Well, lads.” Whispers Effulgyn, trying not to attract attention. “Last night wasn’t such fun in the wilds. But our plan was to pass through Beres and camp in the plains, not to rest here. What do you think we should do?”
It's about noon on a Saturday in a working town--there is hustle and bustle, particularly on the road heading west which to Arc's keen eye seems to be more of a main street, with merchants and commerce etc.
All manners of races can be seen here. Clothing is rather mundane and, maybe, functional rather than stylish.

The party slowly enters the main street, taking in as many details as possible. The buildings are orderly and neat, if a little plain, with not much in the way of signage or decor.
The people here are, as you had observed, quite a lot plainer than in The Commons. They pay you no mind, really, seeming fairly preoccupied with completing the tasks at hand. Indeed there does not seem to be a lot of idle conversations happening here, the way you would maybe see on a main street in the Commons. Despite how warm it is, the vibe is a little cold here.

There are two buildings with rather large signs to the left of the road - one is called The Eight, which is affixed (a little shoddily, you note) to a large building with a balcony along its front. Two men are smoking pipes in silence, not really focused on anything.
The fourth building (and right next door to The Eight) is called The Dew Drop Inn. It appears to be slightly cleaner, and while it too has a balcony, it is smaller, with no one occupying it.

Despite his better judgment for discretion, Fin leans toward the Eight, "This one just feels right. Not sure why, but I like it."

The Eight is less of an Inn than...you're not sure, actually. But based on what little you can see from standing on the road it looks like a very large tavern.

Ferg follows "Your idea of a nice place is questionable but I can eat here as well as anywhere." He follows to group into the Eight and looks for a place to sit. Parson will perch on the roof and watch for anything interesting. Ferg is not looking through Parsons eyes as he wants to keep an eye on things inside. If Parson sees anything interesting he will fly by the window and hoot.
Effulgyn, chewing calmly on a straw, ties Asterix to a post and secures the tent-tarp over the barrel of ale and other supplies. His eyes slide penetratingly to the two men on the front porch and he holds one of their gaze as he secures the final knot with a firm tug.
The brown-garbed halfling then steps toward the door, nodding almost imperceptibly to each of the two men. The message is “I see you.”. “Fine weather,” he says, his tone firm but not unfriendly. He waits for their response before stepping inside.
With Fin leading, Ferg, Effulgyn, Arc and Ash enter, eyes slowly adjusting from the bright midday sun to the dim, wooden interior of The Eight's main room. At a very quick, cursory glance, you can see a few things immediately. One is that there are five large round tables set up over a somewhat threadbare red carpet in the center of the room, but these don't seem like dining tables.
The second is that there seems to be a balcony of some kind on the right side of the second floor, overlooking the entire main room (with a set of stairs in the back of the room leading up.)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Arc's eyes grow accustomed to the light levels he starts to survey the room to see if it fits his idea of a diner/inn. He's eyes start to grow wider in realizing (or his jumped to conclusion) that is not a place we should be in. Investigation: 8 or Perception: 0
Arc, have you ever been to a casino or betting parlour before? Because this is what this is.
Two of the tables appear to be occupied by people (three apiece) being led through a game of some sort by a somewhat formally dressed person (red vest, red bowtie). You can't tell what the games might be.
To the right is another large, open room with two long tables in it--one is occupied. This time the person in the red vest and red bow tie is seated, with 6 people seated around them.
Just then a very muscular bugbear with a very precise mustache appears in front of you. He is wearing a red bow tie as well--it seems too tight for his massive neck.
"Haven't seen you before, so allow me to welcome you to The Eight," he says, in an oddly gentle and smooth voice. "Game for five or are you planning to play individually?"
