Caine slides into a dark shadowy space where he can watch the 'boy' from and see if he can catch any distinguishing features in the slivers of light coming down from above.

Caine's knowledge of vampires is strictly from the ridiculous drunken stories he's heard back home in the Endshift. But pale skin and pointy teeth seem to fit the bill.
He retreats back to the others and relays what he's seen.
"If I had to put a bet down, I'd take whatever odds where offered that the boy-o back there is a vampire or at least well on his way to becoming one." Caine says.
Caine calls out to the priest who appears to have ignored their first questions.
"Hey padre," Caine calls. "What's going on down here? Strange place to be doing some father - son time. Your boy there a bit of a danger to others, is he?"
Nelyna takes note of the height of the pedestal. It may be too high for them to reach the priest but maybe not too high to see exactly what he is doing on top of the pedestal. She closes her eyes and in her mind's eye pictures a beautiful, snowy owl. She murmurs the incantation as she prepares the spell of Find Familiar. When she is finished, a snowy owl appears out of nowhere, hooting softly. It lands on her outstretched arm. She communicates with it silently, and it takes off, flying up to the pedestal and the priest. Her own eyes cloud over as she sees what the owl sees as it approaches the frightened priest.
(So you spend an hour doing that?)
(Oops, that's my bad. I forgot about the duration. Disregard!)
"Don't know about you guys but if the pastor here isn't talking, I'm thinking about heading upstairs and making sure that trapdoor's locked this time." Caine says.
Nelyna looks at Caine with wide eyes. "You'd lock them both down here? For how long?"
In her clear blue eyes there is a naivete resulting from her long years studying in a proverbial ivory tower, aloof from many of the harsher realities of the outside world.
”I’d keep whatever that is over there in the corner locked down here until I was sure there was no chance it wasn’t going to try and take a nibble out of my neck when I was sleeping. It’s after blood and this priest is useless.”
Caine starts edging his way back to the staircase that leads back upstairs. He does so without taking his eyes off the priest’s son.
Razi slowly backs away from the silent priest and his cursed offspring. "Yes... well... Delightful to meet you. As it seems you and your son are otherwise occupied... we will... show ourselves out...".
He then joins Caine in slowly exiting back the way they came.

Jim takes another step closer pushing past Caine and Razi, "Tell me, if we were to offer you blood, would you be willing to tell us what happened to you? What has caused your interest in blood? Why is it that your father fears you so?"

Nelyna glances back up at the priest. She would feel bad if she didn't at least try one last time to help the man.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" she says. "You're safer with us than in here surely."

"And how would you be save?" Jim asks as he looks down at the creature. "What salvation do you desire?"

Caine keeps one foot on the steps leading back up into the church proper while he watches Jim speak to the creature.
"Put out of his misery, would be my guess," Caine suggests.
