(Would Razi have heard any tales of cures or balms for the curse of vampirism? 16 Thats a straight D20. Medicine and Religion would be +1; Arcana would be -1)

Razi thinks... and realizes he will never possess the kind of spells necessary to undo this dreadful curse.
Speaking as quietly as he can to the others closest to him... "It would take the most powerful of magics to cure this. The kind of spells known only to archmages, or to the apostles of the gods themselves. Perhaps there are some in this dark land who possess those powers, but it is unlikely we ever will. It may be that the only salvation we could offer, would be the release of death."
Razi is troubled. Undead... of which vampires are certainly included... are abominations. They deserve destruction. Yet to see someone still possessing some shred of his humanity; to clearly regret what he has become....
Razi doesn't feel the usual anger at the sight of the boy. But he does feel the resolve.
"We should do it. He wants to be freed. And to let him linger like this would be crueler still."

Jim looks up at the man above them all, then back down at the creature in front of him, "What will it be? Do you want to be freed from this state through death? No longer a danger to anyone else. No longer hungering for the taste of blood. Or would you rather wait to see if there is a cure?"

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
Caine recoils slightly at the screeching voice. Then the full meaning of what was said sinks in and he shakes his head slowly, and rubs the back of his neck.
"I won't lose any sleep over burgling this church for everything of valuable hidden away, or killing something or someone who's trying to kill me," Caine says. "But I'm not sure I've got an executioner hiding away inside me anywhere."
He looks around at the others.
"I'm not going to get in the way of anyone who thinks this is the right thing to do but it won't be me cutting his head off."
Nelyna recoils at the very mention of executing the boy. He may be a vampire, but until this point, she and her companions have killed only in self-defense. Killing someone in cold blood is another matter entirely, and she doesn't blame Caine for not wanting to be the one to deal the killing blow. She doesn't have it in her either, even it would be an act of mercy.
As the phrase act of mercy passes through her mind, she can't help but glance at Razi. After a few moments, she nods slowly. "I think Razi and Jim are right. It is clear he is suffering. Maybe if Master Neralmo were here he would be able to cure this poor creature, but my own abilities are nowhere near my master's."
"Growing up, we have had to put down animals that were rabid or suffering in some way. This curse appears to be no different and we would be doing him a kindness. If there are no objections, I will end his suffering."
Nelyna gasps and looks away as Sleet brings his sword down. Quickly she looks up to the priest on his pedestal, wondering how the man will react. She hopes they won't be forced to fight the poor man.
"You're an honest soul, young man. You know this is the only way. May death bring you the peace that was denied to you in life."

"May peace be with you,"Jim says looking down at the remains of the boy. Jim then glances up at the collapsed man. "I'm not sure if you can still hear me, but this is for the best. It was clear that the boy was in conflict with himself. I don't think he wanted to hurt anyone, but his affliction would have only driven him to hurt others. Hopefully, now, the boy is at peace."
Jim will then take a look around the room that they are in to see if there are any signs of anything that would be of interest to them.

Caine watches the priest weep for a few moments then turns and heads back upstairs.
”Maybe there’s someone else upstairs.” Caine says. “Or something that could help us when we’re out on the road. If there are vampires and werewolves just roaming about I don’t think they’ll all be as cooperative as this one was.”
Once back up on the main level he heads further into the church.

Caine looks over Razi's shoulder to the priest and his son.
"The priest will be trouble," Caine says. "He doesn't want the boy hurt."
He looks back up the stairs.
"I'd say we just leave them down here. If we find a cure, great we come back. If not we can come back and put him out of his misery."
"Agreed, let's go."

"Let's see what we can find quick and then leave this awful place. Is there no end to the suffering and misery here?"
