As you begin your ritual, Delon looks on with interest.
"So, what do you have there," he asks. "Think its a magic coin," he continues with the smile of an old man looking a kid who has made paper wings to fly.
"Aye, we found this coin a ways back in a burned down haunted inn of some sort. We've done all we can with it but it appears to be cursed." Ragnik holds up the coin for Delon to see. "Seems to grant wishes that inevitably backfire on the owner in some evil way. Have you seen any other coins or items of it's like round these parts?"
"Burned down Inn? Travelers Rest or some such name? I remember it. Burned down three or four years ago, it was, I think. And you day you found this coin and its cursed? Let me see.." he says as he looks closely at the coin. "No, haven't seen anything like this before. Something new? No, no, something old. How old, I wonder," he asks himself. "Relic from the old world or this? That's the question.. Yea, that's the question.."
"But, I suppose that's what you Marshals want to find out. Oh, don't deny it, please. I'm old, not senile. Not yet, despite what that old priest thinks. Your to well mixed a group, to be friends on a lark and he didn't ask for any reward as adventurers would. Not to worry, I've nothing against the Marshals."
"Still, its a dangerous item. Hold it and ask for something as little as a piece of bread, and you've activated it. After that, you don't even need to hold it. Now let me see, one of these scrolls just happens to remove curses. Would be the safest thing to do, try and remove it."
"Lad, in over 70 years I've met many of them. Was even a Special Deputy once. Not for me though, that adventuring life. No, I much prefer a nice slow pace of life out here in the Wilderness. Little fish in a puddle, you might say," he says with a wink.
"Ahh, here it is," he says grabbing a scroll. "Let's take this outside. Never now what your going to scare up when you remove a curse."
Outside, the Wizard uses Light on a wooden post then takes a seat at a weathered table, places the coin on a dusty, silver platter and unrolls the scroll. In Arcane, he begins to chants and weave his hands. The air around him begins to swirl picking up dust and leaves. As the wind picks up into a mini-cyclone around the table the dust congeals, just for a moment into a face. Deep ridges like stars surround his eyes, and there is a long chin. Issuing from the top of his head are to horns, curling up from the side like a bulls horns. It screams wordlessly before the wind stops and everything returns to normal.
Delon is white faced as he leans back in exhaustion. "A demon," he whispers. "A powerful demon."
The coin sits in the table, its etchings marred and melted beyond recognition.
"Aye, its curse is broken," he says tiredly. "Fortunately, it is a coin that was made and then the curse laid upon it, rather than the vessel of a curse. If the other, then I would not have been able to remove it, and the coin would have to be destroyed by great power. Still, I would recommend melting it down, or throwing it into the deep sea."
"Now, if someone could help me upstairs to bed. I will answer any more questions you might have in the morning. If you wish, you may use my library."

"If you have the power to make it safe, I would say do it", Lucius says seriously.
"As for your assumption, I see no reason to lie. Have you had many dealings with the Marshals then?"

“Well… did you get rid of it?” Eraleigh whispers as though trying not to attract too much notice.

Lucius reaches out with his Divine Sense to see if the coin still registers.
Ragnar watches, concerned that it was a visage of a demon, and wonders what darkness has fallen the land to bring one of those here.

Nadaar says the group after helping the Wizard up stairs “Now that this is done, I figure we’ll rest up before heading onward?”
D&D since 1984
Lucius nods to Nadaar, “The curse is indeed lifted, the coin appears cleansed. Time for rest, I will take first watch and wake someone when needed”.
He is more somber than usual, the image of the demon from the coin etched into his mind, and the warning that some larger threat was brewing.
Evil could not be allowed to persist, it must be stamped out, and he must be ready. Whatever form it takes.
