Darwin sees the ship to ship contact coming through Caper's eyes and brings his senses back to his own body in time to brace himself, but he still get's thrown to the deck.
"I guess we need to work on that", he says with a chuckle as he gets up and dusts himself down.
"What is the plan then? Who do we leave in charge of the ship? Aoi possibly?", he asks as he looks out towards Porto Di Baio.
He looks around for Aoi and asks, "You said you have been here before. Perhaps you know your way around well enough to be our guide whilst here? We really don't want to stand out if at all possible".
Ida is definitely happy to be docked, and is thankful it wasn't much worse. She immediately goes to Hamish and whispers "Not bad at all, if it were my first time we would have capsized. Thank you for keeping calm and keeping us safe - see, you are the man for the job." She then returns to Hamish's side to overhear his request of Aoi and nods in agreement. She calls to Agnarr and once he is out of earshot of the others asks him how badly the ship was damaged. When he relays what the crew told him, she asks if they can get the repairs done by anyone on the crew while they head on their mission.
The crew it turns out do not have a shipwright in it's crew and the repairs will have to be handled by a contractor in port.
'Way I see it, we've got a few options. We can sell the ship, forgoing the headache of managing the crew, repairs and security while we're away. We can get the repairs done and trust the existing crew, go about our business and hope the ships here when we return. We can hire a security detail of mercenaries in town to guard the ship if we don't trust the crew but in that instance we should probably relieve the crew of duty and then set about acquiring a new one when we return.' Agnarr conferrs to the others.
'As for Aoi, he seems like he knows his navigation and could be useful in the swamps, even if he's not super familiar with the terrain.' he turns to Aoi, 'if you're willing to take a dangerous adventure into the swamps with people you barely know.'
'Aye, if we sell the ship we don't need to worry about the crew and we make a bit of coin. If things go wrong and the crew steal the ship back while we're away, then we're out in the cold. However, owning a ship has it's benefits. I will need transport to the southern isles when we find my prize, and you folks will need to return to Haukberg at some point.' Agnarr points out.
'Of course, the crew we eventually keep on will need paying so keeping it is not without expense but if we can find a Captain we find agreeable they can operate the vessel as a merchant ship and we can simply reap a share of any profits, once we're done with our personal use of the ship.'
Hamish grimaces as the ships scrape one another, and smiles sheepishly at Ida's encouragement. As he follows everyone and listens tot he conversation, his raspy whisper joins in, "Would people buy a damage ship? It seems like that might be the easiest thing to do given everything you just said."
Aoi glances toward Darwin at his question and responds, "It depends on where you want to go. I know my way around the docks and local Inns, and I would be more than willing to guide you. I'm not overly familiar with the other parts of town, but I've been to enough port cities to figure out their general layout at least."
Aoi turns his attention to Agnarr and ponders the offer he has just been given, "I've always wanted to travel, and while I'm not overly fond of danger, an adventure with interesting people such as yourselves will make for moments worth living. Besides, I've seen you all fight, you seem like you could handle most dangerous situations."
Caper is currently lounging in the crowd’s nest whilst he waits for everyone to stop talking. He doesn’t understand common and so has lost interest in that.
He is not actively on watch, but has passive perception 13.
Caper flitters down from the Crow's Nest to land before Darwin.
'My child.' he says in a voice that is not his own, and in common. 'Something is happening. We must speak. When you reach a safe and quiet place, I will have Caper direct you on how to summon me.'
"Keeping the ship makes sense. Let's get a total for the repairs needed, and then we need to determine if we want to keep this crew or try for a new one. Thoughts?"
"You know my thoughts", Darwin replies. "I would cash it in. I'm not a merchant and don't have any plans to start. If you all have an interest in this area, go for it, but I am not one for trusting my things with strangers as a rule".
"I'll be back shortly, happy with what you decide though", he says and then wanders over to the captain's cabin with Caper.
Once inside and the door shut and if possible locked, he turns to caper. "Ok, what now?"
"Hello again, Stranger", Darwin says, using the title he has come to know the Stranger by.
"We have been on the open sea. Had a hairy moment with a guy named King Solvig, but otherwise just been sailing along. Caper has been very helpful and I think he is enjoying his travels with me. Seems we have a ship now too. What news did you have for me? What is happening?", he asks.
Hamish shrugs. "I don't mind if we sell the ship. Seems like it will be easy enough to pay for passage back when we need it." When Caper speaks to Darwin, Hamish recognizes the voice and is suddenly nervous. He doesn't follow Darwin, but gets close to the door, trying to listen to what is going on.
'Ah water. Magic has trouble with water, which makes it all the more troubling. Your friend, the shy one, someone has...well...for the lack of a better term, hijacked his connection to the Feywild.'
The stranger purses her lips, 'Do you know what your friend is? He is a Hexblood, child. His parents real child was taken as a babe and was replaced by him. He is, effectively, a hag child. The fey responsible for this is one of my subjects and retained possession of the boy until I saw fit to realign resources within my realm, hence my association. As such a being, his blood, his being, is of the fey wild and is his link thereof.' she explains.
'There are magics that would allow for an interference but to do so would require something of him. This would give an individual power over him and possibly, especially if freely given, that would entitle an individual to a claim of ownership against my own.' her eyes narrow in an accusatory fashion.
'I first saw a glimmer of interference in Haukberg but once you left lane and I lost track of you, I felt a strong attempt take place yesterday.'

Darwin looks up at Agnarr with a surpised expression.
"We can sell the ship? And keep the money?", he says with a grin spreading across his face.
"I know what I would choose, and it would be that".
'Aye, if we sell the ship we don't need to worry about the crew and we make a bit of coin. If things go wrong and the crew steal the ship back while we're away, then we're out in the cold. Agnarr shrugs, 'it might put some off but the damage isn't extensive, we'd probably just have to knock the cost of repairs off the asking price.'
Darwin, what is Caper's positioning and visibility right now?
Aoi glances toward Darwin at his question and responds, "It depends on where you want to go. I know my way around the docks and local Inns, and I would be more than willing to guide you. I'm not overly familiar with the other parts of town, but I've been to enough port cities to figure out their general layout at least."

'My child.' he says in a voice that is not his own, and in common. 'Something is happening. We must speak. When you reach a safe and quiet place, I will have Caper direct you on how to summon me.'
Darwin looks at Caper with a surprised expression, but nods wordlessly.
"Well that's new", he says afterwards looking around to see if anyone else witnessed the event.
"Keeping the ship makes sense. Let's get a total for the repairs needed, and then we need to determine if we want to keep this crew or try for a new one. Thoughts?"

Once inside and the door shut and if possible locked, he turns to caper. "Ok, what now?"
Caper walks you through a summoning ritual.
You find yourself face to face with The Stranger.
'Ah, child, it is good to see you. Where have you been? I like to watch your adventures and for the last few days you've been out of my sight.'
"I will leave the decision of selling or keeping the ship up to you all. My opinion on the matter is biased."
"Hello again, Stranger", Darwin says, using the title he has come to know the Stranger by.

((Perception 19))
Hamish can hear through the door.
'Ah water. Magic has trouble with water, which makes it all the more troubling. Your friend, the shy one, someone has...well...for the lack of a better term, hijacked his connection to the Feywild.'
“How can his connection to the Feywild be hijackered?”, Darwin asks, a frown covering his face as he looks really unsure.
”He doesn’t seem to have changed and his magic still works from what I have seen”, he adds.
”More importantly, who has done it and how do we stop it?”.
The stranger purses her lips, 'Do you know what your friend is? He is a Hexblood, child. His parents real child was taken as a babe and was replaced by him. He is, effectively, a hag child.
