Ida hands Antonius back his crossbow and heads back to Volen's chamber in time to hear the voice. She realizes that something needs to happen quickly to avoid an issue they have no way of understanding. Ida holds her hand to her mouth to tell everyone to be silent.
On hearing the voice through the stone, and seeing Ida motion silence, Darwin panics slightly. The last thing they wanted is for someone to realise what had happened here before they had escaped. He grabs his crystal and wiggles his fingers intricately, and suddenly a conversation can be heard replicating some of the Orcs voices he had overheard during their stay.
"You idiot, you touched stone"
"Don't call me idiot, you idiot"
"Volen gonna be mad, best go quick"
After the voices he makes the sound of footsteps retreating.
He then waits silently, hoping the others also remain silent, and sees what happens.
Hamish freezes, barely breathing while Darwin creates the illusory conversation. He holds the stone out from his body and his eyes flit from Ida to Darwin to the stone.
"Darwin you will forever have my respect" Ida whispers to him across the room. She takes a blanket off the bed and folds the cloth with a deep pocket that can hold the stone steady without any movement brushing it. She takes the corners, takes the stone from Hamish with the corners so that no skin is touching any part of it. She wraps it quickly and carefully and leaves it sitting on the bed.
"I suppose we now know who else we are dealing with. I'm sorry Agnarr, I truly am. We need to get that chest emptied, get everything that we are taking packed carefully, and be ready to leave quickly. I still want to try to talk to Volen, but if she won't divulge anything we are not hanging around waiting while she stalls for time."
Darwin gives Ida a flourishing bow and a smile. "Phew, glad that worked".
He turns to Agnarr with an understanding expression. "And we were thinking it was Antonius's partner behind all this", he says as he helps Ida.
"We should definitely question Volen, and in truth I don't think we should leave her in a position to come after us", he says delicately, intimating that they needed to kill her.
Hamish finally takes a shaky breath and nods as Ida takes the stone. He looks up Agnarr and simply nods, knowing the how the betrayal of family is a pain unlike any other. "Once we've talked to Volen, I can make myself look like an orc when we head outside, in case there are more out of the caves."
"Darwin is right, let's try to get some answers and get out of here. We have no idea what is in store for us outside and I don't want to give anyone the opportunity to ambush us. Agnarr, are you ready? Is everything packed up from this room that we need?"
Ida reclaims her gear and asks Darwin and Hamish to stash the rest so they can ask Antonius if any of it is useful. She hurries after Agnarr and reminds him that they still have no idea where they are yet, so please try not to kill one of the only beings that may be able to tell us.
"Oh, look at that. I guess we are still ruining your plans, huh?" Ida smiles as she tries to make eye contact with Volen. She keeps her hand on her battle-axe, just in case.
Darwin chuckles, "Strong words. I seem to remember it was not long ago that the tables were reversed, so calling us cowards I think is a stretch".
"It will go better for you to co-operate. Tell us what dealings you have with Agnarr's brother, and who you were dealing with regarding Antonius. Tell us where we are and it is possible that you will survive this mess you have gotten yourself into", he says far more seriously.
Deception: 18+5=23 (used Deception because Darwin is against letting her live, but if you think Persuasion or Intimidation should be used it would be 18+3=21)
Hamish suddenly cocks his head and steps away from the group. He pads over to the other pen, seeing just how the runes negate magic. He couldn't cast from inside the pen, but can a spell cast from outside manifest in the pen? He extends a hand and tries to roil a patch of ground.

Hamish nods, taking the cloak from the chest and wrapping the stone in it before following Darwin.
'Volen? What's going on?' a voice asks from the stone.

Hamish freezes, barely breathing while Darwin creates the illusory conversation. He holds the stone out from his body and his eyes flit from Ida to Darwin to the stone.
'Bloody Orcs.' the stone crackles with static once more then falls silent.
Agnarr stares in mute rage.
'That,' he says, 'Was my brother.'

"Let's go wake her and get this over with".

Agnarr takes up his hammer and tosses the axe to one side. 'I'm ready.' and strides from the room to talk to Volen, jaw set.
Ida reclaims her gear and asks Darwin and Hamish to stash the rest so they can ask Antonius if any of it is useful. She hurries after Agnarr and reminds him that they still have no idea where they are yet, so please try not to kill one of the only beings that may be able to tell us.
Darwin follows along after Ida and Agnarr, making his way to the cell.
“Time to wake her up”, he says to Antonius as they arrive. “No need to be too gentle”.
You arrive at the gates to find that Volen has awoken and is standing at the bars staring at Antonius.
She spits when she sees y'all approach
Darwin stares at Volen across the chamber as he realises she is already awake.
”Never mind, I should have realised you were awake when I didn’t hear any of that awful snoring”, he says with a sneer.
”Anything to say for yourself before you are put down?”.
"Oh, look at that. I guess we are still ruining your plans, huh?" Ida smiles as she tries to make eye contact with Volen. She keeps her hand on her battle-axe, just in case.
'Why didn't you kill me yet yet, cowards?' she asks.
'Why are you talking to my brother?' Agnarr asks.
She grunts with derision, 'Go **** yourself.'
Darwin chuckles, "Strong words. I seem to remember it was not long ago that the tables were reversed, so calling us cowards I think is a stretch".

"Volen - what choice do you have but to talk if you hope to achieve any of the things you set out to do?" Ida adds.
