"Indeed something seems amiss here. It's almost as if the carnival is alive somehow. That the carnival itself responds to us in some way and affects those who operate it. Let us hope the effect, if it is what I fear, does not affect everyone - including visitors."
"I say we do what they suggest and sneak into the staff area behind the Big top. It's better than standing around here looking at each other." He says with a smile but you sense that he just wants to move forward. Garwin starts to walk towards the Big Top. He stops and turns around to see if the others are going to join him or if he's alone in this.
As the three of you head in the direction of the Big Top the quirkiness of the carnival hits home - a giant flower suddenly bursts from the ground and starts to serenade you, before you can even begin to comprehend how that's even possible, an elf stilt walker showers you with sugary treats and with a puff of glitter the man walking past you suddenly transforms into a braying donkey - at least his head does - the rest of him remains human - he brays loudly and scampers away into the crowd
It's probably one of the most surreal places any of you have ever visited before.... the place feels exciting, strange and edgy, and not always a good edgy
As you pass by the Big Top you can see a tangled wall of thorns surrounding a cluster of wagons lit by lanterns, the wagons are barely visible through the thicket, this you guess must be the staff area
Pishon - as you covertly watch the comings and goings you notice that the carnival’s wagons are not just located but protected by a 20-foot-high, 5-foot-thick wall of thorns. When a member of the carnival staff stands very close to the wall, the thorns part to form an 8-foot-high, 4-foot-wide doorway in front of that staff member. This door remains open for about 10 seconds, then disappears again as the thorny vines fill the gap and seal it shut .
As Pishon witnesses the opening and closing of the wall he starts to wonder if everything outside of the tents and individuals are alive and apart of the carnival. He then thinks about how that if he is correct, then technically the ground they are standing on is like the skin of the carnival. As this though occurs, Pishon is not so hungry for carnival food and says “Oh that’s disgusting…” and shudders.
"That may make things a bit more difficult. Easedropping from outside may be possible. Or, the living hedge might 'eat' us and turn us over to the staff." Usagi looks troubled as he ponders the next step.
Pishon - the staff are not wearing anything as such to distinguish them - however as they don't wear wings - you therefore know they are either fare dodgers or they work for the carnival
As you stand together deciding what to do you notice a large bear like creature patrolling the inside parameter - he looks quite friendly but is clearly undertaking a job of work.
”I say that we just walk in like we have worked here for quite some time. The chances that they question us is fairly small, just based off the fact that they don’t seem to care. We have made it this far without anyone confronting us. It looks like the “door” is magical. If we get kicked out or confronted, we just say that we were lost. What are your thoughts?”
Garwin
"Agreed" he looks to the rest to see if there is agreement.

Usagi nods and steps off to follow.
Pishon
Pishon shrugs and follows the others. As they walk, he asks them both awkwardly, “So…have you guys ever had carnival food before?”
