After a quick breakfast for those that chose to partake in it, your group sets out for the mountains to the west. Before leaving Farthran fusses over you like a mother hen, making sure you have everything you need for the trip. Each of you are given any rations you may need for the trip as well as flasks of anything you might want to drink within reason. Everyone in the tavern bids you farewell for now and may you have a safe journey.
(OOC: You may add any last minute provisions to your equipment you might need free of charge at this point.)
Heading out into the forest, you find the patches of densely packed trees with the occasional clearing here and there quiet and comforting. The forest is quiet except for the twittering of birds here and there and you travel along for several hours as the nearby mountains loom closer and closer. The closer you get the easier it is to see how the protective shield comes from above and seemingly slices down into the mountains, cutting them in half.
(OOC: I'll leave this open ended for any talking that might happen as you journey and pick back up at some point tomorrow.)
It has been years since Falken has been out in the woods, having been only a young adult the last time he skipped through any sort of bountiful fauna. He looks around and takes a deep breath in, smelling the flowers and leaves around him."Take it in youngins! There is nothing better than this."He bends down and runs his hands through the dirt, his eyes closing as he remembers simpler times... Times when the shield wasn't deteriorating... Times when he and his wife would hold hands and take long strolls through the forest... Times when him and his wife would... Nevermind, not a thought for now.
He shakes his head, breaking him out of this memory loop and begins to look around, looking for any possible plants that might be able to be used for potions down the road.
"Falken is right! These woods are filled with wonderful fauna and flora. Every once in a while young couples come out here and....oh uhh look at that bird! It looks like a white-breasted nuthatch"
Grahl moves out with them but makes a quick stop at his house to pick up a net and a whetstone. Who knows what they will run across in the wilds.
Catching up to the others he falls back to walking speed hearing the old folks talk of the woods and their fond memories of it. Grahl has been in the woods before but never out very far. HIs work kept him near the town mostly.
He has heard some stories from his sister Talia who often goes out to collect herbs and such for their father and other townsfolk. I assume you know the way? he says to Klok who he assumes knows these woods best. With recent events it would seem like a bad place to get lost.
That said he continues to look around carefully for any movements in the trees as they travel.
Otis smiles,"At one point or another I think just about anyone in the village older than eighteen has been all over these woods. Just about everyone needs to escape the village at some point at least for a time. Now once we get to the mountains that will be different. Not everyone is willing to risk a serious fall for their alone time." Otis puts in. Still he is on edge, a tension under the surface. Otis didn't like that Brennan had disappeared right out of the villiage.
You keep making your way towards the mountains with the forest slowly beginning to thin out, the trees becoming less thick and dense. Up ahead the terrain begins to seemingly lift up becoming more rocky with small hills blending in with the mountain itself. Several small boulders lie on the ground around the base of the hills.
Klok:
Hearing an odd noise slightly echoing off to the north, you hesitate a moment to listen and hear the sound of what you think is perhaps rock meeting glass.
Falken looks at what everyone else is doing and, with his bad hearing, will turn to whoever is close to him and say at a volume just above normal talking."What did he say!?"
As Falken speaks up loudly, the nearby noise stops. You stop and hold still for a moment, waiting to see what happens and after several very tense seconds, the noise begins anew, rock and glass clashing together over and over. Creeping forward and peeking from the canopy of trees, you see a man with his back to you in front of a very large boulder, his arms crossed and pacing slightly back and forth he seems to nod at two creatures attacking the rock.
The man is small and thin and wearing hide armor of some kind, he carries a giant axe in a makeshift sling on his back that looks like he should be falling over attempting to carry it, much less wield it.
The creatures are made of a shimmering glass that sparkles in the light and both shapes are a cross between a reptilian creature and a humanoid. Each creature seems to be attacking the boulder and slowly chipping away at the side of the stone wall. Their claws seem to splinter and break during the process, but slowly reform after each attack.
(OOC: Think raptors, but standing slightly more upright and slightly smaller head/legs and more humanoid arms.)
Klok looks at the man wondering if the man is one of those he's read about that was supposed to have perished with the creation of the shield History: 15
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grahl moves a bit to the side to try and get to a position a small distance (20ft) away from the others to see if he can see something from another angle to see if they are alone or if they are carrying other supplies.
Perception: 12
But it seems trees and foliage block his vision for the most part
Falken will reach into his bag and pull out a small egg that he had tinkered up before they left. It appears to look similar to a smaller faberge egg. He pushes a small button on the top of the egg, which ejects a slot for something to be inserted. Falken takes the identify pearl and pops it into the slot and pushes it into the egg. The egg begins to spin and whirl, a small head pokes up from the top of the egg while wings sprout from the sides. A small tail with some legs and talons sprout from the bottom, resembling a small, roughly scuffed, metal owl. He whispers something to it and sends it flying up in to the air to get an aerial view of the situation. Once gaining enough information, the owl will turn back and return to Falken, reporting it's findings.

Otis travels along with the others. As the group moves along away from the village Otis seems to loosen up. Happy to be alive and free.

Roy puts his helmet on and tries to quietly move closer, to see what's happening ahead.
