“I will search downstairs with Echo, um…does anyone want to come with me?” Lanky figets a bit, trying not to show he’s spooked. He slowly goes downstairs, looking behind him to see if anyone follows him as he starts searching downstairs with Echo’s help.
As Tastie jumps on the bed, decades worth of dust flies up and around her, almost clouding her vision.
Lanky heads downstairs with Echo swooping around his head, Gabin on his heels as they decend. They get to ground level and it is now dark with no more light filtering in through the windows. With their darkvision, however, they are able to move around the house without an issue.
At the bottom of the stairs, they turn left and head into the NE room that had not been entered as of yet and see what looks like a dining room. This room holds a rectangular table with eight chairs. A sideboard sits against the far wall, with dusty ceramic serving dishes and bowls atop it. A fireplace is in the far corner.
As they look a bit more thoroughly, they find ceramic plates, bowls, and teacups with saucers in the sideboard cabinets, as well as flatware and serving utensils in the drawers. The ceramics are well made but simple; the flatware is made of a silver-plated steel alloy.
(As you move through the house, please tell me where you go, I took the liberty on this first one as it made the most sense.)
"Uh wait, just before the fighting started, I was in a room with a desk. It should be just over this way. It might be worth checking out."Gabin gestures to the Southeast room.
"Which room is the most defensible for us to take a rest?" Remi keeps looking through rooms upstairs, checking every nook and cranny for any meenlocks or other interesting findings.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Lanky nods in agreement and follows Gabin to the room. “We uh should probably check the basement as well…afterwards.” Lanky searches the desk room for anything with Echo’s help. 13
She will make her way to a window and look out, trying to see if anything is moving out there and what this cheery town looks like at night.
Tastie will also make sure she checks out the room she's in, including under the bed, as it's common knowledge monsters hide there. Afterwards she'll do the same in all the upstairs rooms, keeping an eye out for loose floorboards or wall panels. Just to make sure.
"Maybe we should pull these beds together here in the common room, in case any of those things come up the stairs," she wonders out loud.
Gabin leaves the dining room and goes back into the room with the mirror that played tricks on him. He avoids looking into that mirror as he searches what he figures would be the parlor. Lanky joins him and they notice the chairs are infested with rodents; mouse holes and droppings are obvious with a simple glance. As they search the desk they can tell it was for public use and does not hold any personal papers. A few crumbling sheets of blank parchment, a quill, and a dried-up inkwell choked with dust remain here.
Remi checks out all the corners and closets in the upstairs and does not find another meenlock. Tastie is also upstairs and as she looks out the window it is very dark out. Only a few stars pierce the moonless sky and without any being in the houses to illuminate them, they remain under the dark shroud of night. As she searches under the bed in the bedroom E'Lar was in she finds a small stuffed toy bugbear, full of holes and with its stuffing removed by the resident rodents. The floorboards and such seem to be held down fast, nothing appears to be loose.
Well, Tastie takes the little bugbear stuffy with a gasp of delight, giggling to herself and worrying anyone within earshot of her, thinking of interesting tricks to play on Hefty later...
"Did you any of you get a chance to check out that room?"Gabin points to the Southwest room. "I uh...ran upstairs just as you were all killing the meanlock down here, so I missed everything that went on afterwards"

No one answers Gabin, so he heads into the SW room himself, he sees chairs are arranged in staggered rows with their backs to the door, facing a podium in the southeast corner. A sideboard sits on the left side of the room, and a bookcase stands to the right of the doorway, filled with tomes and knickknacks. A cold brick fireplace occupies the southwest corner.
It gives the feeling that the mayor addressed the village’s council here. The sideboard, once used to provide drinks and other refreshments during the meetings, is bare. The shelves in it hold glass tumblers, wine glasses, and small china plates, all covered with dust and rodent droppings.
The bookshelf holds old and worn books, a small framed watercolor painting of a mountain range (2 gp), and a chunk of raw platinum ore from the mine (25 gp).
“I’m uh pretty sure we didn’t.” Lanky follows Gabin, tensing up as he fears another one of those things suddenly popping out. He’s relieved when he enters the room and there is no monster in there.
E'lar will find a quiet place where there are lots of rodent signs, and take ten minutes to cast a spell that allows him to speak with the furry fellows.

E'Lar sits amongst all the rodent droppings while he casts his ritual. By the time he is done, no rodent has come to respond to him. They have either been scared off by the fights or just by the mere presence of the adventurers.
Lanky checks out the platinum ore, and realizes, yep, it's platinum ore.
The rest of the house is searched thoroughly and no other monsters or items are found. It gets late, and the need for sleep overwhelms. As you discuss the options for barricading, do you all sleep together in one room or each take a bedroom? How do you plan to take this rest?
"It's probably best we stick together" says Elirion. "Any of these rooms will do, especially with two on watch. I'd suggest that one." She points in the direction of the upstairs room with the most solid walls. "Probably need to move some of the furniture, though."
Remi helps with rearrangement of the furniture. They create a barricade along the top of the steps. "Anyone have some pitons to nail the windows shut? We are sure to hear any breaking glass. And you have that spear that seems to warn you. That's handy! In the morning, we will continue searching, but I agree with Elirion, we need to stick together."

As you all gather in the same bedroom, using furniture to first barricade the stairs and then barricade the bedroom, Gabin then pulls out some pitons and gets started on the windows. He is able to hammer the pitons through the window frame and into the sill making them secure, though the last one he missed and hit his thumb pretty good.
Tastie brings her new friend to bed with her as they all gather together on mattresses and the floor to try and get some rest before heading out to the mines in the morning. Visions of the creature come back to them as they hope they did enough to keep them out.

Gabin reaches for the chunk of platinum ore. "This must be from the mines. Check it out." He hefts it, and tosses it over to Lanky.
Lanky takes a good look at the ore, not knowing much about smithing stuff. "It probably is, I uh found some platinum items earlier in a store."
