Lanky will help by moving furnature around to cover up the windows. “Uh…should we block off the door as well? I’d rather have at least one escape route.”
The six of you settle down in your makeshift bunker, taking your shifts to keep watch for anything that moves, especially the meenlocks. As each of you take your turn sleeping, however, you all have fitful nightmares, they even break through the meditative state the elves are in for their respective restful state.
These dreams are all similar of each individual being trapped in the suffocating darkness beneath piles of rock and rubble, unable to scream or move. A terrifying feeling of being buried alive.
For Lanky, the spirits come. Oh so many spirits and with the inability to even move let along fight, it's beyond your capacity to handle, let alone comprehend.
For E'Lar, he sees the corruption that he has spent his life fighting overcome his home. His one true place that he keeps secret, keeps hidden, keeps safe, is now overrun with it and stuck where he is, has no ability to stop it.
For Tastie, as she lays in the darkness, the damp silent hole, she thinks it couldn't get worse, until she hears her savior. Once again in this house, she hears the voice she hasn't heard in ages and has yearned to hear it, but not here. Not like this. He is crying, he is dying, she can tell and can do nothing to stop or help.
When you all wake from this restless dreamworld, you are all dripping in perspiration and shaken by your experience. Lanky, E'Lar and Tastie all gain 1 level of exhaustion.
Gabin sits up from his fitful sleep, drenched in a cold sweat and looks around to see the others stirring as well. "The mines,"he says quietly but loud enough to hear.
"Tastie, you were tossing and turning all night! And breaking wind! What a fitful sleep. You were murmuring something about an oven..." Remi sits up. "I agree with you Gabin, we need to get to the mines and put the source of this creepiness to bed, and for good." Can't run a base out of here, can't get any friggin sleep in this place!

Lanky wakes up with sweat on his brow. Her clutches his halberd and gets up. He surveys the room for spirits, in a state of panic after that nightmare. “Show yourselves spirits! I will drag you to the other side no matter if you want it or not!”
Elirion looks around, noting the exhausted state of some of her companions. She remembers being pushed out of her meditative state more than once, feeling like she was under attack, but finding nothing.
"My rest was...less than satisfactory, but will suffice. The sooner we understand what is causing this, the better. Ordinarily I would suggest searching the town for more clues, but..." she glances are her companions, "...it seems that we may have limited time before we all succumb."
Gabin gets up and begins to work through his short series of morning stretches in silence, but some of the stiffness lingers, and his mind is distracted. He stops short, giving up, and starts to get packed up.
(Just so it is clear, everyone got a long rest, the 3 of you have 1 level of exhaustion)
As you all rise and talk about the dreadful night you had, you look out the window and realize the sun is almost peaking through. It lifts a few spirits and the idea of tackling the mine does not carry as much weight as it did a minute ago.
You gather all your items and leave the foresaken house of the mayor. As you step outside and take a deep breath of fresh air, which direction do you all decide to go?

The creatures seemed to be trying to haul his companions to the west, E'lar will circle around that side and look for any tracks the creatures may have left previously.
