“I can do delicate,” Pepper says, glancing at the shifter. “But this one knows who employed him, and I’d like to know that, too. I don’t think delicate is going to convince him to tell me. But Vilroy might have a carrot to offer him. I think we should take him to her.”
She looks around once more for a likely street kid, again flipping a silver coin out in the open. “If only we had a smart and enterprising individual we could use to run a message…”

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
(So let's have some fun and go off-script...everybody roll Perception and tell me what you're looking for/at as you stand just off the walkway between some residential and business buildings.!)
Pepper is looking for likely street kids to employ to carry a message to Sgt. Vilroy. She is also always on the lookout for danger. She pretends to be distracted by pretty people, but she’s working, so she isn’t, really. Honest.

Caelyn will look at the shopkeepers or those who look to live here. And watch them to see if they are nervous or focussed on something. She figures they would know best if something is happening.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Knowing someone else was gunning for Coal has put Ashe on edge. Whoever they are, they are probably on the trail of this team of Bastards that have now gotten themselves involved. He's keeping an eye out for anyone that's watching or following them a little too closely.
Kira sees something NKR (Not Kwite Right). A boy, maybe 10 or 12, just made a smooth pickpocket of a passing merchant thanks to a young teen girl distracting the adult. It all happened so quickly, Kira had to blink and replay it in her mind to be sure. Following the boy with her eyes, she sees him and the girl join up down the street and stop in front of a store, pretending to look in the shop's open windows but actually perusing what was taken from the man. These must some of the child pickpockets nicknamed The Little Fingers here in Sharn...perhaps they could be useful to you?
Caelyn ponders option 4 but does not think she has the resources/contacts in place to pull it off yet. She would go for 1 but her curiosity would allow her to be persuaded to go for 2 depending on the wishes of others.
As Pepper sees the tide turning towards investigating one of the great houses, she holds her hands out placatingly. “Believe me, I’d love to stick it to those that think they’re better than us, but we shouldn’t go half drawn into it. What if we took this lump,” she again kicks the shifter, “to Vilroy, and ask her about this connection. Maybe she has some insight, or an in?”
(So 1, and then 2)

After an almost disturbing period of immobility, Pernach weighs in. "I think Pepper has the right of it. The instructions from Mist were to assist Sgt. Vilroy as needed. Mist would likely be...dissatisfied with us where we to needlessly burn a bridge with a contact."
The group debates the merits of checking with Vilroy first, or just carrying on their own investigation. In the end, the two options are actually the same. Returning to where you started, you are able to make contact with the Sgt in a quiet manner, turning over the shifter leader and conferring what you have learned thus far. (Up to you on if you tell her about where Coal is headed, or just let her know that Coal is out of the city...)
The sergeant absorbs the details of your report, nodding occasionally and asking a few follow-up questions. She agrees that there is more to this story, and asks you to confront Alden d’Orien, but cautions you to be diplomatic. She also tells you that many of the House Orien members live in the house’s enclave in Terminus, but the more powerful members of the dragonmarked family live in the upper wards of the city. Alden d’Orien's residence is the Unicorn Estate in the Mithral Tower district of Upper Central Plateau.
When you are ready to head to the Mithral Tower district:
Many of the grand homes in Mithral Tower are true to the district’s name, boasting mithral filigree. The Sharn Watch seems to be everywhere in this neighborhood full of busy scions climbing into skycoaches, hosting opulent parties, and showing off their latest purchases at all hours of the day.
Unicorn Estate has a grand unicorn statue and unicorn-shaped topiaries adorning the yard beyond an open, wrought-iron gate. Flanking this gate are two guards in House Orien livery. Each wears a beautiful helm shaped like the head of a unicorn.
The magnificent marble home is clearly owned by one of the city’s wealthiest dragonmarked families. Seated on a patio couch are two figures engaged in quiet conversation: a haggard man in his late thirties and an attentive kalashtar who holds a rose-colored crystal in his hands. Two more guards dressed like the ones at the gates stand nearby.
Pepper is very skeptical that the motley crew will even get in the door. “If we have to be ‘diplomatic’ we’re not getting past the gate. If we can knock heads, we might get an audience.”

"It does present certain... difficulties." Cyril's eyes move from comrade to comrade. "However..." His gaze lands on Ashe, lingering as he pauses. "I don't think that we are quite so disadvantaged as you might think. If, perhaps, one or two of us serve as the... face, as you were, the others could serve as bodyguards or other assistants."

Cyril Perception: 18
Cyril is mostly occupied with keeping an eye on the prisoner, just in case they wake up and attempt some shenanigans.

1. Report to Vilroy with the shifter in some manner that may or may not involve street urchins or DM hand-waving.

Cyril votes 2 but isn't overly passionate about it.
(sorry thought Kira had to respond to that one)

Ashe is thinking 2. He's too curious not to see this through.
