Tanis (who has darkvision) also gets to work promptly hauling rocks. If he notices Kisiki or anyone else considering fleeing at this juncture, he tries to catch his eye and shake his head subtly but urgently.
He tries to get as good a view as he can of the waterfall and the small lake below it. Depth. Any rocks sticking out or making parts shallow so we would hit them if we dove in from 100'. Any aquatic life visible - don't want to escape only to get eaten by quippers.
Perception if needed: 27
If Tanis sees anything, he will quietly relay it to the others in passing when no one is looking. Also to the lizardfolk: "You could be right about the silk connected to the lift, Kisiki. Though if we are on the rope when the lift comes up or down, it could knock us off to our deaths. And the spiders may be able to climb down it too. Worth considering, though. Good thought."
Tanis tries to fix the geography and proportions of the cavern floor, especially the exits NE, NW and SW, firmly in his head. As well as the function and structure of the lift and of the platforms/stalactites he saw.
He very specifically does NOT try to grab a rock to hide away as he thinks that would be too obviousl
Phodoxia tramps obediently with the others across the swaying bridge and the platform, her large ears and eyes taking in everything. Once in the eating hall and shown what work to do, Phodoxia gives Topsy a pat, and nudges Shoowaa with an elbow, as if to say, keep an eye out! She then scurries to work on the platters and plates, scraping and scrubbing. The lichen on the walls looks very pretty, and after working for some time she tries to catch the eye of one of the guards, smiling and pointing at it. "May I pick some?"
Tanis, the best you can tell, the pool is at least 20 feet deep. The surface is obviously churned up by the waterfall, but based on the slope you can see from the sides, it would be plenty of deep in the center near where the waterfall strikes the surface. You don't see any rocks or other obstacles sticking up. And you don't see any aquatic life in the pool at all. The work you are required to do takes you near the stream, but not as close to the pool. This is what you can tell from a short distance away.
Shoowaa thinks about potentially using the fishbones as a pick to get rid of the manacles. He starts cleaning by picking up the fish bones and puts it in the bucket so his hand is obscured and he triest to quicly snap off a rib to palm in his hand before ‘wiping’ his hands on his tail, hiding the bone in his fur. In goblin “Lets try to get some supplies. I got a bone so far.”
Petmailer also takes note of directions, exits from the cavern floor and direction of the water, looking at all options. He starts to pick up rocks and move them as directed. When his back is turned one minute, he grabs hold of the steel chain, points his finger at Tanis and wordlessly says to him in his mind “Can you hear me? Does my magic work out here?” He keeps watching the floor for anything that may have fallen from above, anything bright or shiny in the water.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
In the dining area, Vethna works quietly and efficiently. She frowns as she clearly sees one of her fellow workers attempt to hide a fish bone in his fur, and hopes the drow didn't notice it as well. Keeping her head down she does not try the same sort of thing herself.
[OOC: Shoowaa, that was a great idea, but really poorly executed. A five on a sleight of hand roll when someone is clearly watching you closely just can't succeed.]
A drow guard approaches Shoowaa "I saw that, Goblin. What are you hiding? Drop it now!" He has slung his crossbow on his belt and drawn his short sword.
Petmailer's spell does go through down here on the cavern floor and Tanis can answer back.
As far as stuff in the water, you see bits of garbage and debris, but nothing of value. The drow use large casks to get some of the fresh clean water where it flows out of the wall up above, but then they dump their garbage and refuse down into this pool. Most of it flows on out of the cavern where the water runs into a fissure in the rock, but some bits of stuff does snag on rocks or float up onto the cavern floor.
Phodoxia, a guard heard your question about the lichen, but when another guard approached Shoowaa and started questioning him, all the drow turned their attention to the other goblin in the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shoowaa nods and goes back to cleaning, not in a particular rush but not being sluggish either as he doesn't want to get into even worse trouble. He wonders if he can use the pantry doors or tables as potential barriers, but dismisses it for now. He says in goblin "They have thier eyes on me, I'll make a distraction while you try to get some of the bones." As Shoowaa is cleaning the table, he looks for anything that can be used as a potential staff.
Perception: 20
Shoowaa will ASSIST if/when the other goblin desires to sneak something.
Periodically as he is carrying rocks over to divert the flow of water and “fitting” the rock into the right place, Petmailer will let the length of chain between his manacles lie on top of another rock and if the guards appear distracted or not paying close attention, he will bring the rock down on the length of chain. Not aiming to break it, he realizes their manacles and chains may be inspected as they go back up, but to weaken it, hopefully to be broken at the right time in the future. As he is moving rocks he continues to scan for anything else that has been discarded that could be of use.

[Petmailer can roll a stealth check to see if you pull off hitting your chain with a rock without being noticed by a guard. Then you can roll a d20 plus your strength modifier for an attack. The DC is 14 to hit (trying to manage a rock, keep the chain in place, hit it so it causes damage and doesn't just slip off, etc.). On a hit you do 1d4 +1 damage. These are pretty thick chains, so you can tell one blow won't break them. But if you're goal is to weaken it, a successful hit will do some damage.]
[Phodoxia, there is some of the lichen on the wall near a trash barrel. You could try to take some unseen or you could ask again if you like]
[Shoowaa, there is a broom available for sweeping floors. It's not as thick or hard as a regular staff, but you could hit someone with it. It's about as tall as you are, so you couldn't hide it on your person and... they're watching you closely.]
Those of you in the kitchen get glimpses of the pantry area as you're cleaning up. There are a fair amount of provisions in here. There is fresh stuff for preparing meals (mostly a variety of mushrooms, but some fish and meat from things that might have been caught and killed down here). There are also crates with some less perishable supplies - salted fish and meat, grains, hard tack, jerky, etc. There are a few wineskins, some full and some empty and some larger casks of wine or ale. There are smaller casks the drow fill from the waterfall for fresh water.
Kisiki is out of ideas and can barely see anything down here. He asks the rock group if he can do anything to help. Provide a distraction perhaps, if anyone sees anything worth making a distraction over.
Tanis can't get it out of his head how obvious a potential escape route jumping down into the deep pool without rocks seems to be for potential prison-breakers. It appears to be the one area not shielded by the spiderwebs from above. It is a quick fall, bypasses the lift, and doesn't require climbing tools. Surely the drow are not that stupid. They must know. Is there a trap or alarm there somehow?
(@DM: Not going to re-roll a Perception check given my previous roll of 21 above unless you ask me, but, trying not to be obvious, Tanis keeps looking at the pool for any other clues when he thinks the drow guards are not looking. Let me know if you need an Insight or Investigation check or something).
Tanis quietly asks Kisiki and the others if they can sense anything that might make the pool bad to jump into from 100'. I know the lizardfolk can't see well in the dim light, but being a partially aquatic creature, does Kisiki perhaps... smell anything wrong with the pool? Some bad fungi maybe?
At some stage, Tanis, seemingly just as a tired and frustrated gesture as the drudgery wears on, nonchalantly flings a small rock out there into the pool as he catches his breath for a moment before trudging back.
Phodoxia busies herself with dishes while the guards have their eyes on Shoowaa. She's still gazing at that pretty lichen, though. After a little while she tries to get the guards' attention again, smiling excitedly as she points to it. "May I have some lichen?"

Phodoxia, a guard heard your question about the lichen, but when another guard approached Shoowaa and started questioning him, all the drow turned their attention to the other goblin in the room.
Shoowaa drops what he’s holding at that time, grumbling under his breath in goblin. He really hates that guard.
(it was worth a shot. Also how many guards are there? I wanna potentially try something else.)
There were three guards in here with you, watching you as you work. They are paying particular attention to you now.
The guard says "I told you not to try and collect scraps. I won't warn you again."
