The dwarf, noticing the state of his clothes a full five minutes after Gris' casting, begins shrieking incoherently and grabbing at Ayoola, begging her to "cleanse him".
I will be gone for a 24-hour period or so, so don't wait up! Hopefully this news won't change your lives too dramatically. :) See you all.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"We could bind the rope to the cart. Just make sure it stands sideways so it can't roll towards the hole." Ayoola says. She then tries and fails to clean the dwarf's clothes. Investigation to realize it's an Illusion: 14
(If everyone agrees with Ayoola's cart plan) Kathleen will get the cart closer to the hole and tie the one end of her rope to it. She will then tie a few knots on the rope to make climbing it easier and then she throws the other end into the hole. She then says, "Alright. I'll go first." She attempts to safely descend into the hole using the rope.
Kathleen descends for about ten feet before her shoes touch the packed dirt of the pit floor. Enough sunlight enters through the opening that she can sufficiently make out a rough tunnel shape, the front and back walls about twenty feet apart and the tunnel itself going on as far as the eye can see.
After entering the tunnel, any or all characters may make a History check.
Ayoola and Kathleen instantly recognize the tunnels.
Several centuries ago, there was a great rift between the shield dwarves of the Darkwaythes and the gold dwarves of the fields. The two factions, who had lived in peace for so long, were now at war. The shield dwarves struck first, pillaging and raiding defenseless gold dwarf settlements without mercy. This bloody tactic sparked a a massacre of gold dwarves, who were unable to rally against the warlike peoples of the Darkwaythes. The surviving gold dwarves, in fear of the stronger shield dwarves, made secret tunnels through which they could safely hide out in, and a great city was built under the ground by the gold dwarf survivors. This city is still a location of great discussion today, though none have ever been able to find it. You have now stumbled upon one of the very tunnels which could lead to this fantastic "El Dorado".
As Kathleen realizes where they are, she becomes filled with glee at the prospect of an epic adventure. She tries to tell everyone what she knows but her extreme excitement makes her unintelligible.
"Shields and gold and tunnels beat shields. Rifts and massacre; strong shields are strong. Myth survivors. Dark rally and wraiths. Field gold. Hide in mud. Ladders vs step ladders. Futuristic Dorito."
Adoy smiles mischievously and quietly casts his Minor Illusion cantrip to conjure an illusion of dirt all over the Dwinkle's clothing.
Gris: "If you do not mind I will not work as a tree this time"
Dwinkle was walking in the wrong direction That was the joke. :)

"Good idea! Let's do that." Kathleen agrees with Ayoola
Any physical inspection reveals the dirt to be an illusion. I am sure it didn't last long, buy Adoy got a good laugh out of it.
Sorry, as Adoy's and Gris' avatars look the same, I get them confused. :)

Dwinkle proceeds to glower at anyone who catches his eye, but as his demeanor is less than threatening, this is not too concerning.

She looks up to the others and motions for them to come down into the hole. "This pit is a huge tunnel. Get down here."
Adoy climbs down next and takes a look around.

Ayoola follows Adoy. On the bottom she will cast Light on her belt buckle and will again cast Mage Armor on herself. (WMS: 4)

Gris as he looks inside the tunel
"Mr Dwinkle, your dwarf kind is famous for mining, do you know what this is?"
While Kathleen babbles in excitement, Ayoola will explain it to the group.
"... but even if we find it, having an ambassador of the shield dwarves might be a bad idea, to be honest," she concludes.
