Greko brushes himself off from all the sand and dirt, and walks over to Rum "Hmm Remnants? Here Greko thought the group called themselves the Ardent Devotees of the Remnants of Greko the White!" Greko snickers at his joke "Now in all seriousness the mirrors of ourselves were to conquer our weaknesses. They are not foretelling our fates. Our fate does not end in a desert as a puddle of water...no, but this group, despite our differences and backgrounds, have proven that we can work together by putting aside these differences and overcoming our weaknesses. For example, Greko put aside his pride and and watched what Judal did to fight himself....Greko relied on the wisdom of another and followed suit. This was a stepping stone for things to come...." Greko walks over to Malenia and hesitates to put a hand on them fearing for his jaw, but he does place a hand on their shoulder "and not our fate.....When the time comes we will face Vader and you will be ready, Malenia."
"We are all remnants, friend Greko", Rum replies, ignoring the joke. "Be it remnants of the Twilight Embers, the Order of the Phoenix or Andromeda's Answer. Even Violet is a remnant of the Remnants".
"And action is what brings us together, talk historically only seems to drive us apart", he adds with a smile to his friend as he watches him put a hand on Malenia's shoulder.
Greko turns to Rum and then looks out over the vast desert towards the mirror "Remnants indeed....Sometimes Greko's brain is a remnant of old Greko....This new Greko brain fights to push old Greko out....Greko barely remembers the name of his favorite pastry." Greko solemnly begins walking towards the mirror
“The Cheese danish?” Thea blurts quietly from the back as she comes floating down from the sky and touches down in the water. That was the snack Greko had shared with them wasn’t it? Maybe that was a favourite. She looks over the old lizard with gentle concern for an elder, sympathizing with the assumption that there might be some onset dementia.
Seeing one of each of them fall Judal can't help but wonder... "Did we defeat the right ones?" he asks. "I mean I'm fairly certain I am not the mirror image of myself but things got crazy there for a moment. Like all battles. I certainly didn't have an eye on all of you all the time. What if one of us fell and was replaced by the doppelgänger us? Is there any way to know for sure?"
Oh, did he voice his concerns aloud? He's not sure he meant to do that but oh well...
"Anyway... What next? Should we step through the gate mirror? Or try to? Surely nothing can go wrong there..."
"I can only assume that were the real version of us to have fallen, the bodies would have remained and not disappeared", Rum answers Judal with a slight shrug to show it is only a theory.
Lady Kaede places a hand on Judal's shoulder, her grip firm but reassuring. "Doubt is a natural companion in these trials, Judal-san. Yet, we stand here together, battered but unbroken. We faced our darkness, and in doing so, faced a part of ourselves." She gestures towards the gate. "The path ahead may hold more challenges, but we will face them together. The mirror may hold the answer we seek, or it may hold another reflection. But fear not, for we have faced the worst of ourselves, and emerged stronger for it."
With a determined glint in her eye, Lady Kaede approached the mirrored surface. The reflection shimmered faintly, its depths seemingly endless. Pausing for a moment, she surveyed her companions, their forms etched with the weariness of battle. "We've all earned a respite," she announced, her voice echoing across the desolate landscape. "Whether it be a short rest or a longer one, take this time to mend your wounds and prepare for what may lie beyond this gate." Only then, when the Ardent Remnants were ready, would she consider the true test – stepping through the mirrored surface into the unknown.
Violet practically melts into a pile of eye stalks as the last of the mirrors falls... she makes a mental note NEVER to get on her companions' bad sides...
"I won't lie... I'd kind of like to take a long rest to recover from that," she says tiredly, running a hand through her raven hair.
Judal's question gives her pause... could some of them have been replaced? Then she remembers an important detail, and breathes a sigh of relief.
"I don't think we have to worry about that," she tells him with a smile. "Remember... when we first saw them our copies were all speaking backwards! So as long as none of us are talking in reverse, I think we're fine."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Judal's joke brings a little grin to Rum's feline face, but it is replaced by a frown as he looks about for anywhere they could comfortably rest.
"It would be good to get out of this water, if we are going to rest", he suggests. "From what we know of what is through the gate though, we will likely have plenty of time to rest beyond, as we have been told only those that lose the will to open the next gate can actually open it"
Greko stops near the mirror and looks at the reflection of himself.....He realizes everyone has is still behind a ways back. He does not step through but waits for the others.
"A rest would indeed be nice but it's a bit too waterlogged here to get comfortable," Judal says, pretty sure he is summing up popular opinion. "Shall we move on and hope there is rest on the other side?" Judal strides up to Greko and joins him at the edge of the mirror as he says this. He waits there and casually casts prestidigitation upon himself to clean his armor and clothes, dry himself and while his feet my be doomed to pruning due to standing in the water he can at least make sure they stay warm...
As Faux Malenia falls, Rum turns away from the body to look towards the other Remnants, checking that everyone is ok.
"Are we ready to proceed, fellow Remnants?", he asks not giving their duplicates another glance.

“I guess Greko the White is just a remnant of Greko the Green”, Rum replies sadly.

Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

Violet rolls her eyes... all eleven of them... at Judal's joke.

And then pushes Greko through the portal when nobody is looking.
((just kidding?))
One minute Greko was looking into the portal, the next he was gone, and Rum was immediately bounding in after him.
"Follow when you are ready", he calls over his shoulder just before he enters the portal and is gone.
Greko pinching at his skin and trying to stretch out the wrinkles to see his former self feels a push from behind and goes flying through the portal
"Ooops," Judal says in mock surprise and then follows after... Who knew pushing one so old would be so easy or effective?
