After making sure Koric is ok, Jade holds up a scroll, "Sorry, I also found this, can anyone read it?"then turns to Lux, "No, only thing of note is the ones that fought the dwarfs, well, they don't seem to make any tracks. Probably some sort of undead, especially with the dark energy that surrounds this place. Yes, we should get moving on."
Liri shakes her head. "I only found some of the dwarves tracks, nothing else." She tilts her head at Jade's comments, looking puzzled for a moment. "Some sort of ghost that can attack the living? I am no expert in the undead, but whatever it is, it sounds ominous. We should be careful." While she speaks, she fidgets absently with a small feather that she appears to have found on the ground, running the barbs between her fingers. She looks around herself as if suddenly realising something. "Did Koric stay down below? We should get back down to him. Unless scouting or otherwise hidden, I don't like the idea of any of us being separated on their own from the others."

@All (just going to move along at this point given it seems that where most people are)
Out of things to explore up here, you climb back down and begin to move along the trail again, heading towards your ultimate destination. Still, the image of whatever happened on this crag haunts you. Clearly, whatever undead force haunts this place is not to be messed with. As you move along, Jade, you take a look at the scroll in your hands, but still can't read it properly. It's simply just not a magical language you are familiar with. Does anyone else try to read it or take any of the other gear Jade found?
You look at the scroll and notice a fine, arcane dust scattered all over it. You get the sense that this was once one of a collection of spell scrolls. If you had to guess, the other scroll that this dust is made of also contained the same spell. Perhaps this has something to do with whatever happened to the dwarves who once camped on top of that crag
As you walk along peacefully, Balthar suddenly darts wildly in a flash of pure panic. Out in front of you on the trail, he sees two massive, horrifying masses of undead flesh, grotesque and truly terrible. There are smaller spots on the ground around them, but Baltar can't quite make them out. Just the sight of it is enough to instill pure terror even in an owl. The undead beats are lumbering forward at two dwarven warriors, who look prepared for combat and well-armed but also deeply outgunned. The undead heaps of flesh do not notice Balthar or even glance in his direction, mindlessly drawn towards annihilating the two dwarves in front of them
Koric hands the scroll back, careful not to touch the writing or damage it further. "I'd like to copy that when I get a chance. I don't know the spell." He wishes he had been able to climb up and look for other items, but the pain is still fresh and the thought is quickly banished.
Some time later, as they move onwards, Koric stops suddenly in his tracks and Balthar appears on his arm again. He looks quickly around, fearful of an ambush nearby then says in a harsh whisper, "Two dwarves up ahead, being attacked by some huge undead creatures."
Kroic will do his best to describe what he saw though Balthar's eyes before summoning him back, hoping someone else might recognize the creature he is describing.
You are not familiar with what exactly these are, although they seem to be made out of just mounds of undead flesh and are clearly far bigger and stronger than the dwarves they are attacking. You don't suppose anyone could be really familiar with these monsters, as they are clearly terrible perversions of life and nature
Elandra looks at Soloth with disbelief plain on her face, "We should go to help them! Maybe they are survivors from the encampment, or searching for their lost comrades. Regardless, we can't just let the blight of this land have free reign on anyone! Koric, do you know how far ahead they were?" Elandra starts moving forwards along the track at pace.
Koric nods. "Not far ahead, along the path." He seems torn between cowardice and ... something else. Duty? Regret? Guilt?
As Elandra moves off he says to Soloth, "The world is full enough of evil, without adding to it. If they are slain, their deaths will be our responsibility, and their spirits could justly haunt us. If we save them, they might be of help."
(( Koric will do his best to describe where they are ))
Jade looks at Elandra, impressed. "Yes, we need to help. We are heros, are we not? We have been individually selected by our deities to help right this world, and that is what we are going to do." She grips her glaive and marches in the direction Koric states where the trouble is. Not looking back and ready for action.
Liri nods, a determined look on her face as she follows after the others. "We should help them. It's the right thing to do, which is reason enough alone. Additionally, they might know more about what is going on around here." She offers Soloth a reassuring smile. "Your god believes in you. And you faced down that charging bulette. You can do this." Inwardly, she feels a little nervous herself, unsure of what she's going to see when they reach the fight. She thinks to herself that she might need the strength of tooth and claw for this one.

Random Encounter Roll: 4
Since this is the first time it would not be immediately obvious, 2 did not trigger a random encounter.
Separately though, Koric, give me a perception check for Balthar
Lux will offer to take a look at the scroll
D&D since 1984
@Lux
You look at it and can immediately tell this is a spell scroll containing one use of the spell Clairvoyance. In addition, make an arcana check
Arcana 7
D&D since 1984
Koric also takes an interest in the scroll when the group is back together.
@Lux
Looking at the scroll, you can't seem to tell absolutely nothing about it other than its obvious purpose of casting clairvoyance 1 time
@Koric
Make an Arcana check if you wish to also examine the scroll, as you too can read it. Also, still need a perception check for Balthar
Koric Arcana: 25
Balthar Perception: 15
