Unfortunately your attempts at persuading the bandits to give up through verbal means proves futile, as they lay the long wooden plank across the pool and begin crossing towards you. The lead bandit however is hit squarely and by the time he gets to the other side, simply ignores you all and attempts to run off outside.
The other bandits attempt to fire crossbows at you, but crossing the pond makes it difficult and their shots go wide into the cavern walls. The giant frog swipes his tongue out at Petros to attempt to hit and grapple him but misses handily! (no damage to anyone in the party)
(initiative order is Cade, Doc, Gellwin, Petros, Bandits, Frog. Two bandits left unless you try to stop the one fleeing)

The frog was supposed to do a wisdom saving throw because of my cantrip btw.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bones takes aim at the fleeing bandit leader, mumbling to himself as he does. "Sorry friend, but we have to stop the spread of this contagion..." He takes aim with his crossbow, trying to hit the man in the legs.
Several sharp attacks makes the giant frog rethink his life and he dumps himself back in the water again. The first bandit manages to evade the shots at him and disappears into the wilds. The second bandit, having also been blasted pretty well, decides to make a break for it as well, ignoring you now and running for the outside. The third bandit just finishes crossing the wood and takes a swipe at Cade but misses!
The last bandit dodges your attacks, but seeing himself surrounded and outnumbered, he makes a break for the outside as well, leaving you all alone to cross the wooden board on your own. Proceeding a bit further into the cave, the slow dripping of water from the ceiling flows to a pool in the southwest corner of this cavern. A large wooden bucket with a lid sits near the edge of the pool. The bandits you just saw seem to have likely come from this area.
Bones sighs in frustration. "Is every backwater yokel in this frigid wasteland incapable of cognitive thought! Those idiots are probably going to spread the damned disease!" As he's grumbling he begins to cross the rickety bridge, cursing as he does. "...of all the... bet the damned frogs have it too... cursed bastards..." All the way across.
Cade shakes his head. “They don’ know what’s good for’em.” He crosses the plank carefully and leaves his sword out. When the party gets to the bucket, Cade flips the lid off with the tip of his sword. “What do we got ere?”

In the bucket are six dead bats.
Petros leans over the bucket and looks inside.
”Why would they have a bucket full of bats? Unless…”
He then stabs into a bat carcass with the end of his rapier. Keeping it as far from him as possible, Petros flings the bat into the pool.
(@Petros, make an animal handling check with advantage)
Gellwin watches the feeding bats to the pool process with interest.
