Still sickened by the trolls and nervous about what attention their battle may have drawn, Brother Siegfried kneels and maintains concentration on his spell until it expires naturally. He lets the others search the scene while he prays quietly.

As Rawlings picks up the bag, Tor calls over "See if there's anything from our people in there."
He then walks quietly over to Siegfried kneeling on the ground. He hunkers down a few feet away, and waits for the cleric to either finish praying or notice his presence, then asks "All good Brother? You did well there."
While waiting Tor will keep an ear out for any movement around them in case of further attack.
Inside the bag, Rawlings finds a half-finished necklace featuring giant alligator teeth and glass beads, a rolled up banner--the kind that might be tied to the end of a spear--featuring the snowflake badge of Neverwinter, a single fist-sized black scale carved with draconic runes (you can roll Nature to see what creature it's likely from), and a kukri whose blade appears to be carved out of a single piece of bone--likely a very large shoulder-blade.
You can roll a History/Arcana roll to know more about the items in general, if you wish.
With a sigh, Brother Siegfried stands. "... All good. My spell is much easier to maintain than it is to cast again. I wanted to keep it up as long as possible in the event some new horror from the Mere was drawn in by the sound of battle."
"Excellent hammer work, by the by. Have you much experience shaping troll skulls or have we uncovered a natural talent?"

Taking out the interesting items and laying them in front of of her, she tries to understand what she looking at.
Arcana 9
Despite having come across lizardfolk before in her adventuring career, the secrets of their society is not something that's particularly interested her, and so Rawlings does not recognize the significance of any of the items.
Vandeyr is tempted enough by the troll skin to make a rough job of hacking some off quickly, but doesn't waste time. Minutes may count for something in this chase.

"I'm more used to a sword, or an axe. But once you learn the weight of it, it all boils down to 'Hit them, don't get hit'. Find the space they don't want you in, and fill it with a weapon." He stands, and offers Siegfried a hand to rise. "We need to keep moving."
Looking up to Tor's question, Rawlings shakes her head. "I can't make anything out of this, any of you want to check it out? Otherwise shall we leave it or take it with us?"

Van will check it out as we walk, after finding out if he snagged the troll skin?
Tor doesn't even attempt to identify the other items, giving them a quick glance as they walk, but he recognises the symbol of Neverwinter on the banner.
"Well this is one of ours, at least. I'll hang onto that." He shoves it into his pack. "Do what you want with the rest. Maybe there's someone who's interested enough in those sorts of things to pay you for them."

History 20
Vandeyr has no problem collecting a largish piece of skin and storing it in such a way that it shouldn't go bad so long as it's used in a week or so.
As an artificer, he also recognizes the items in the lizardfolk's pouch. The lizardfolk are known to be able to have a strange but powerful and almost mystical skill of artificery. The necklace, while not magical, is an object that a parent might make for a child as a talisman of luck and success before they went on their first hunt as an adult. It's clear from the materials inside the bag that it was still being completed.
The single black scale carved with draconic runes, is a similar talisman, but more the kind that a lover might give their mate or a chieftain might give a valued champion as a token of loyalty or dedication.
Finally, the kukri feels magical in your hands. These blades are usually made out of the bones of a loved lizardfolk that died and whose body continues to serve the tribe after their death. Vandeyr's knowledge of draconic translates the runes to say something like, "Tooth/Claw/Blade of the Mother."
Vandeyr explains the talismans and blade to the others. "These may be significant bargaining chips if we have to negotiate for the release of the patrol. These have significant value. And with the troll skin, we might prove that we did in fact rescue these from the trolls, and did not kill this lizardman ourselves. Of course... We don't have to negotiate. They are clearly enemies of the people back in town. Perhaps it would be better to root them out and have done with it."
Tor grunts noncommittally. "We'll do what we have to do. I'll happily take the way with less bloodshed. But they've taken our people, and we're going to get them back. If the lizards won't play ball, we can't think twice about taking them out."
To Vandeyr specifically, "You know about these lizard folk. Do you speak their language? Would be helpful if we do try to negotiate."
Sigi nods in understanding. "We will leave none behind."

Rawlings gets ready to continue on through the mere looking for the lost group when what Tor says registers with her. "I need to show what I can do? Interesting, didn't know this was an interview. I am always ready for anything."
Sigi chuckles. "The commander is a man of action and strategy; tactics and battleplans. A role for everyone and everyone ready to play their role. That is just his way of saying 'I'm not sure yet what you do exactly, but by the gods, looks sharp and get ready to do it!'"
