Eilynn pick ups the finely crafted silver mace, turning it over in her hands an examining it closely. She carries the weapon and the fabric-like chainmail over to Korbin.
Garron follows the quartermaster to the relic room and lingers towards the back of the group as the others browse through the selection. As the assassin continue through the armory a particular finely crafted shortsword caught his attention and he glided forward to pick it up. A lightning fast horizontal slash through the air before balancing the blade horizontally on two fingers. Garron clicked his tongue and nodded with approval. He could use another reliable sword at his side so the rogue turns to head back to Korbin with it but stopped dead in his tracks when the strange rod with a button caught his gaze. “What do we have here..”Garron snatched it from it’s place as well before making his way back to the quartermaster.
"Oh, forgot to mention. Ya only get to pick ONE item. The vault is looking more than a little bare these days and I can't be handing out relics like sweet rolls to plump-sticky-face children!", says Korbin. (DM - Each of you can try to persuade Korbin for an extra magic item.)
Seamus - "Ah, good pick. I know of these. The cloak is a cloak of protection and the daggers are a trinity set. Allow me-,"Korbin says as he takes the three daggers over to a training dummy to the side of the room. He then stabs and leaves each dagger in the dummy. After stabbing the third dagger, the dummy begins to freeze until it's frozen solid. Korbin easily pulls the daggers from the frozen dummy and places them on a nearby table. "Pretty neat, huh! I call'm Frost, Snow, and Blizzard. (DM - Each is a dagger, +1 )
Eilynn - "This is elven forged mithral chain mail. Light and flexible it can pass as a heavy robe!"Korbin gently picks up the mace, "Now this is a great weapon! Just don't speak it command word indoors. I don't need another crater in my floor.", Korbin says as he points his thumb over his shoulder to a 5ft wide; 2ft deep blacken hole blasted into the stone floor. A training dummy should have been there. "Slam the mace into the ground and shout, "Thunder!", and a bolt of lightning will strike the ground and summon a Lightning Mephit! The mephit will last for 30 seconds (5 rounds) and then explodes! It will also take mental and voice commands from its summoner. I call it: Mace of the Lightning Mephit!" (DM - This effect has 3 charges and regains 1 charge at dawn. This magic weapon has a hidden ability.)
Brymys - "Aah, now these potions were a recent find! These three: the dark red is a potion of healing (greater), the purple is a potion of growth, and the ash-gray is a potion of cure-all (DM - It can cure any status effect. And no, this cannot cure the king.). "For the other three, I haven't the faintest idea." (The other three potions are of color bright green, fiery orange, and sky blue.) "I'll count the crate of potions as one item."
Inge - "Hrrmm, ya sure ya want that halberd?", he asks with worry. He glances at the javelin Inge was eyeing before and says, "I would rather part with the thrower but,". He lets out a sigh, "The choice is yours of course. It's just I get a bad feeling in my gut about this weapon."Rembrandt raises an eyebrow at that but Korbin cuts him off, "No. It's not cursed. I've run that test multiple times. However, this weapon was forged by a dark magic. Of what kind, I don't know." (DM - This is a halberd, +1. This magic weapon has a hidden ability. Inge - This weapon doesn't feel evil in your hands.)
Mugun - "Had a feeling the knight would pick the longsword!", Korbin says with a knowing smile. "That sword can cut marble and still keep its edge! As fine as a magic sword that I've seen. I just can't figure out why it hums.", he says while scratching his head. (DM - This is a longsword, +1. This magic weapon has a hidden ability. Mugun - This weapon hums when it is pulled from its sheath and when it swings through the air.) "And the shield is a sight to behold!", he says as he picks up the shield. "This is a Round Shield of Illusions. You can create any image on the surface of this shield! It doesn't offer any extra magical protection, I'm afraid. Still, it's pretty neat!".
Garron - "Yes, this is another fine blade!",Korbin says as he picks up the shortsword. "This weapon can keep its wielder emotions clear, and mind focused! I call it, "The Shortsword of the Calm Mind". It's a great weapon for spellcasters as it helps keep their spells fresh in their minds, but they do need to take a break after an hour or so." He then turns his attention to the rod. "This is an immovable rod. It's a great little item if ya need a point in the air to hold on to!", he says as he clicks the button and releases the rod in mid-air; stuck at the point where he clicked the button.
Inge is torn regarding the evil halberd that doesn't feel evil. She tests the balance and the feel of it and whistles in appreciation. She screws up her face and tries to think of what her clan elders would say. Would her ancestral guardians answer her call even when she wields this weapon? Somehow, she thinks they would. And if so, might she not be able to resist or control its evil? Two wrongs do not make a right, but by her count, there were two rights (her fighting ability and the quest) and a wrong (whatever is wrong with the weapon). She holds up two fingers on one hand and one finger on another. Yep, two is still greater than one.
She turns to Korbin with a friendly, if lopsided grin, and kneels to get on the same level as the halfling: "Listen, ah... Korby. I get that we're not supposed to talk about our quest here but... I'm sure you know it has to be more important than the land itself to warrant all of this fuss." (she gestures around) "So are you in or are you out? Don't be like the stingy goatherder who gives out only a sip of sweet milk to each warrior heading out to protect the village he lives in. Give me both the halberd and the javelin and I swear by the bones of my forebears and by the mountains themselves, I will bring them back to you. You know, after we save the world for him." (She gestures with her chin at Rembrandt).
Seamusgratefully accepts the cloak. He looks at the daggers somewhat wistfully, and asks, "Are you saving them for someone else? Such finely crafted tools are meant to be used, not to sit locked up in a cellar. Surely you know that our mission is of utmost importance. How would you feel if it failed because we lacked this brace of daggers and their magic?" (low charisma so not really that good at convincing).
Eilynn eyes the two objects, considering the properties of each one. An exceedingly offensive relic and a purely defensive relic - they could make a great team if paired together. “Korbin. Surely you'd be willing to extend a helping hand to a poor adventurer? Both of these items would aid me and my companions greatly in facing the coming dangers.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mugun puts the shield back. He has a perfectly good shield already, even if it can't do any magic tricks. He has no interest in dickering with the halfling over an extra prize for himself, but his friends found items that may actually do them some good.
"Master Dhallas," he says, unstrapping his own sword belt and replacing it with the new one, "Our mission was prescribed by the Lord Magistrate in service to the King. It is of the utmost seriousness. Surely you wish to give my friends every possible advantage in equipping us, don't you?"
“I can’t help but agree with Sir Mugun..”Garron says smoothly as he pulls his own shortsword from it’s sheath at his hip and replaced it with the magical blade instead. He waves the immovable rod over his head with a arched eyebrow. “If there is a chance we face down a dragon to get this elixir… Well, I would think every advantage would be afforded if it meant saving the king himself..”
@ Brymys - Taking a small sip of the orange potion sends a warm alcoholic sensation down into the pit of your belly; then right back up a as flaming "BUURRPP!" escapes your mouth. Everyone turns and stares at you for a long moment. Brymys has discovered a potion of fire breath!
"a dragon to get this elixir… Well, I would think every advantage would be afforded if it meant saving the king himself..”, Garron words seem to be cut-off as the MNDA takes effect.
Korbin gives him a strange look. "Rrrright.", he says drawing out the "R", "I didn't know your into silent-preforming. I tell ya what, I'll part with three extra relics, and Mr. Garron, Sir Mugun, and Miss Igne can choose. Ya each can decide which item is best for your group."
So he does care about more than advancing his own noble status. He is willing to make the entire group stronger, as all in the clan must do when the cold mountain winds blow. Even if he may only be doing it because he thinks team success will help his personal goals. That's ok, it is the same with me. We all must find our own reasons.
She takes the supposedly evil halberd as her first item, then grins briefly at the elf mage's fiery belch, clapping Brymys solidly on the shoulders as she would a drinking buddy. Before deciding whether to take the javelin as her second or choosing a different item for one of her companions to take, Inge approaches Korbin.
A small flash of surprise lights Eilynn’s face, before it is quickly smoothed back into her usual neutral expression. She nods her head towards the half-orc, signifying her gratitude.
"Think nothing of it, Eilynn!"Mugun says with a smile and a nod. "I think we'll all feel more comfortable on the trip up the mountains knowing our cleric's properly protected."
Inge- "The thrower is something special!", Korbin says as he takes the javelin and walks over to a target dummy. "Pick a target and speak, "Gajup!".
Korbin throws the javelin with more strength than he seems to possess and hits the target square in the chest. "Now speak, Dez kur Rauzul!". Nothing happens. He clears his throat, "My orcish is a bit rusty.". He tries different forms of the phrase but nothing happens.
Orcish -
"Gajup" roughly translate to Hunt. "Dez kur Rauzul" is gibberish. Mugun understands Korbin is trying to say "Come back".
(DM) Mugun leans over and whispers to Inge, "I believe he is trying to say,"Dez kurrauz",its used to train hunting dogs and wolfs in the orc tribes.".
(DM - This is a javelin, +1. Speak the command word "Hunt" and throw this weapon(before dice rolls) to add +10 to hit, but nulls critical rolls (Nat 20). Speak the command word "Come back" to magical return this weapon to your hand. This magic weapon has a hidden ability.)
Eilynn pick ups the finely crafted silver mace, turning it over in her hands an examining it closely. She carries the weapon and the fabric-like chainmail over to Korbin.
Brymys curious about the 6 colored potions brings them to Korbin "What are these potions?"
Inge gravitates immediately to the halberd, drawn to it like a waterfall rushing down a mountainside. The itch on her shoulder utterly forgotten.
She glances at the javelin too. She wants both, but mainly the halberd.

"Well I will take these potions. Perhaps I can figure out what the unknown ones are." Brymys then stows away the potions into his pack.
(OOC is there any check I can do to determine what is in the unknown potions?)
Brymys carefully studies the unknown potions.
