"Garda had keys to the Archives," Cassra says, wiping her mouth with her sleeve. "It looks like our killer now has access to things within the Library that he shouldn't."
As Sylyra and Uragum move to further inspect the surroundings, Briny gathers the books and scroll, taking only a quick look at their open contents.
Briny:
The two small, red leather books look to be part of the collected memoirs of Ren o' the Blade. Their bindings and sequenced titles match the look of many of the other books scattered around on the ground nearby.
The larger, white leather book is titled The Weave: A Practical Observation of Impractical Occurrences.
The scroll is made of gilded parchment and is rather large itself.
OOC: Sylyra and Uragum's investigation is underway, but holding off on the resolution of the investigation to allow Briny's quicker actions to be digested.
Briny shoves the books into her pack but more carefully finds a pocket on the outside of her pack that the scroll will at least not fall out of, even if it does stick out quite a bit. "I don't know if these are the exact books that were stolen, but they have the same titles that we are looking for." She speaks quietly, hoping that her voice won't carry beyond the room they currently occupy.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
An ear-splitting and ground shaking noise shatters the silence of the archives as Sylyra transforms and begins to search the area with Uragum. The sound of collapsing brick, mortar, and bookshelves fills the wake as it fades away.
All around you, shelves and books begin to fall. In the small room, an immense pile of books begins to form as the shelves tip and collapse, burying Cassra with a pained scream. Nimbly avoiding the chaos, you find yourselves in a more pleasant position when the event has subsided, each taking 1.5 bludgeoning damage in your avoidance of the falling wood and leather.
Cassra pulls herself free of some books with some effort, holding her arm and wincing.
Briny rubs a sore spot on her head and then tries to shake some dust out of her hair, mostly just making it more disheveled. "I don't think it's safe to stay here, whatever caused that we should probably keep moving and hope we avoid it."
"Agreed but where do we go to next? It took us ages just to find this place. The books didn't have anything in them that might tell us what the killer might want?"
Briny seems slightly irritated at the question. "I haven't had a lot of time for reading just yet, other than the titles. I could get them back out and skim a few pages if you like, or maybe this section of the archives can give us some contextclues." Turning to Cassra she asks the scholar "What is usually kept in this part of the archives, and is it close to anything sensitive or valuable that you are aware of?"
OOC: Sylyra's investigation could be resumed - there would be new checks because of the change to the area, and it might be a bit harder and involve climbing over fallen bookshelves, but definitely possible.
"We're close to the deeper sections of the Archives, I think," Cassra says, rubbing her arm. "The Archives occupy multiple levels, but we rarely venture below this point, for safety reasons."
"Well, you've seen yourself just how vast this place is. The further we get from the Library, the more unmapped and unknown the Archives are. There's no guarantee of safety past the locked doors," Cassra answers.
For Sylyra:
Despite the dust still settling from the crashing bookshelves, you can smell the tang of blood wafting from the body of Garda and leading outside of this room.
Hex looks at Sylyra-dog with a raised brow, about to shush him, but when he turns around and walks off she realises what he wants and follows after. "I think he wants us to follow him."

"Gods, what the in the nine realms of hell was that???" Hex rushes over to Cassra, helping her stand. "I'm guessing that isn't normal?"
Cassra winces as Hex helps her up, and simply responds, "Oh no...what a mess..."

Sylyra-dog shakes the dust from his fur and looks around with his doggie eyes, clearly confused as to what just happened.

Is the area too messed up to get any kind of scent?

Briny looks intrigued. "What kind of safety reasons?"
I would like to continue searching for a scent.

Sylyra-dog turns and gives a short but loud bark. Once at least one set of eyes meets his, he turns and starts following the trail he's found.
Hex looks at Sylyra-dog with a raised brow, about to shush him, but when he turns around and walks off she realises what he wants and follows after. "I think he wants us to follow him."
