Uragum takes the payment as well and ponders what to do before they all reconvene. Hesitant to take up the fighting pits again with the lingering rumors of him tossing fights for money, he instead holed himself up in the library. Taking the scroll that was recovered from the dragon cave, Uragum will try and decipher the spell and if one he can add to his book, he will do so. With his left over time he will try and do his own research on the pools of radiance.
OOC: Removed 10 gp from Briny's inventory for living expenses.
HEX:
OOC: Added a potion of healing and studded leather to Hex's inventory and removed 95 gp. Removed leather from Hex's inventory and added 2 gp.
No cost of living removed from Hex's inventory as she has spent the downtime working.
SYLYRA:
OOC: Yep, as long as you're in a town large enough to sell spell components you can find them easily enough. Writing the letter also doesn't take significant downtime, so Sylyra still has 10 days if you'd like him to do some activity that does require downtime.
Added the components for summon beast to Sylyra's inventory and removed 187 gp and 26 ep.
URAGUM:
The spell scroll recovered from Rythnax's lair is one of dispel magic, which Uragum is able to decipher easily. Your research on the Pools of Radiance is decidedly less successful. After 10 days poring through histories and documents at Mantor's Library, you have found no mention of them.
OOC: Added scroll of dispel magic to Uragum's inventory. Removed 10 gp for the cost of research, and 10 gp for living expenses.
OOC: Giving some time for Sylyra to follow up on the rest of his downtime (and for Briny to add hers if she would like) before concluding.
In order of preference, so if time runs out, the list is cut short:
He has the unidentified headband and unidentified potion he'd like to identify.
DM, how do you feel about pets? They can sometimes be annoying, so if you'd rather I didn't have one, please say so. If you're OK with it, Sylyra will look for a bird to tame and begin training. Nothing as big as a hawk. Something either robin sized or maybe crow sized. Nothing with claws that crush. If he does so, he'll need a cage and food for the bird.
Out of almost annoyed obligation, he'll try to meet with Olisara Lightsong. After updating her, he'll ask if she has anything he can do for her to make some money now that he's depleted what coin he had.
Briny waits a day or so to relax and recover, and then finds Hex. She asks Hex to come to her lodging and says she has something to show her. "I've thought a bit about that comment you made, about my book not being related to the job, and... well it's complicated." Briny pulls the thin book out of her back pack and sets it on the table. "I think I can trust you, and probably the other two. But you should know about this book. I used to go around d to all the libraries close to where I grew up, looking for information on sorcerers and their kind of magic. In one library they had a small archive and I found something that I thought was a puzzle or a riddle. It was a blood seal. And when I broke it I found this book. Whoever wrote it had plans, something to do with pools of radiance, something that would harm a lot of people. I was so disturbed that I couldn't finish reading it. And when I left and took the book with me... maybe I'm paranoid. Or maybe something has been following me. It's always little things, stuff that could be a coincidence, or an accident, but I don't feel safe with this book. I might be putting you in danger just by telling you all of this. But if there's any chance that our last job is connected to the things in this book... I have to try to stop it. I found the book, so I have to do something about it."
If Hex thinks they should tell Sylyra and Uragum about the book then she will, saying pretty much the same thing.
She decides that it's time to finish the book, and to try and puzzle out more of it's secrets. So she spends the first part of her time going through it carefully, making notations and writing down thoughts and speculations on a separate paper. When she decides that she has learned as much about the pools of radiance and any details about the scheme involving the corruption or harnessing of the power of the pools, she realizes that she is bored. So for the remainder of the time she heads back to the library and asks if they could use a hand, maybe there's a temporary or part time position open. If there's nothing available there then she will head back to the Zhentarim and take any odd jobs or assignments that she can get.
OOC: As far as pets go, I usually tell people to play a beastmaster ranger if they want a true "listens to what you say and is useful" pet and if they're not then their "pets" are usually too independent for what they have in mind. However, Sylyra has a number of abilities that could make that easier to accomplish for him, so I'm fine with him making the attempt. I would just say that if you do want a trained bird it will take some time (at least the length of an adventure) to make progress on that front without the use of abilities or spells. Attempting to find a suitable bird would take your remaining downtime (aside from talking to Olisara and identifying the magic items), so if this is the route you want him to take let me know how you're intending to go about it.
The headband is a headband of intellect. The potion is a potion of greater healing. I've updated these items in Sylyra's inventory (still located in the chest that was taken from the Archives).
I will send the results of speaking with Olisara and Briny's research via private message.
Hex is shocked at the information Briny tells her and thanks her for her honesty. She agrees it would be best to tell the others and to keep them in the loop about anything else she might find out about the Pools. She also reassures Briny's fear of putting the party into danger, giving her a lil pat on the head. "We've been messing with the Cult's plans for a while now, whether we've known it or not. It's likely we've already put ourselves in danger, regardless of you and your book so don't worry about it too much, okay?"
For the first few days of the tenday, Sylyra once again avoids Uragum for no apparent reason. Whenever the goliath appears, the elf finds a reason to leave. One evening, however, Sylyra appears at Uragum's side, a wide grin lifting his beautiful features. "I have something for you, my large friend," he says brightly. Reaching into his cloak, he produces a beautiful piece of jewelry and extends it toward the wizard. "A headband of intellect." The headband appears delicate. Made primarily of gold, it looks like an ornate circlet with pearl accents and a triangular purple amethyst the size of Uragum's thumbnail dangling like a pendant on the front. Sylyra's eyes lock onto the headband, and his grin becomes fixed.
Uragum's eyes go wide as he tentatively reaches our for the gift. He looks at it closely and breathes deep. "Such an item is rare and wondrous. Are you sure?" He asks.
With confirmation, Uragum will take the gift. "Such a gift cannot go unappreciated," he says and steps back in thought. Then snaps his fingers. "I've been left at a loss for a bit now. I've tried my hand in the pits and that ended in rumor and scandal. Had researched making a wand but then we found one. I just checked into the Pools of Radiance with not even a whisper or footnote and am unsure of where to devote my time. Now you present me with such a gift and a path comes clear. Tell me, is there an item you desire? A magic weapon perhaps? Something that I can put my efforts into creating just for you?"
Uragum's eyes go wide as he tentatively reaches our for the gift. He looks at it closely and breathes deep. "Such an item is rare and wondrous. Are you sure?" He asks.
The wizard's words snap Sylyra out of his trance, and he blinks and smirks again, stopping short of making some kind of dismissive noise as well. "Of course," he says, waving a hand. "It only makes sense to make that big brain of yours even bigger. We each have our talents."
"Tell me, is there an item you desire? A magic weapon perhaps? Something that I can put my efforts into creating just for you?"
Sylyra is clearly taken aback by this idea. He blinks at the goliath. "Create? You can create magic items?" He looks at the others then back at Uragum. "What are you talking about?"
Uragum blinks slowly in return. "Um... with some work, yes, sort of. I need the item, arcane material, some which may be difficult to come by, and the blue print. Some blue prints are extremely difficult to come by. Sometimes they are even more expensive than the item themselves. So it all kind of depends. But if you have something in mind. I would try to see what I can do to repay you for such a gift."
A genuine smile brightens the elf's face. "You never cease to amaze, do you, Uragum?" he says. "I'll tell you what. Let's just say you owe me one, and we'll see what comes of it." Sylyra eases into a seat. "Now, who wants to buy me a drink? I just spent all of my coin on this." He draws out of a pocket a larger-than-usual acorn gilded with gold. He twists it in the light then gives it a little shake. There is a slight noise when he does so, but it's too quiet to know what is causing it.
This isn't an invitation to continue this conversation, but if someone wants to while we wait for the next part of the adventure to begin, I'm game.

Is there time left after that?
