(Is there any check we could do to see if these shadows might be vulnerable to light? Or maybe fire or radiant damage specifically? Also, Hex's silvered scimitar?)
Hex throws the torch to the ground and clicks her tongue. "I knew it." She moves as far back as she can and pulls out her longbow, taking a shot at the shadow that got Uragum.
Uragum feels the cold creeping over him. It nearly takes his breath away. He balls his fist and then opens his hand, it crackles with lightning and he thrusts it at the shadow.
Briny isn't sure what to do at first, since when do shadows attack anywhere except dreams? She speaks the first arcane phrase that comes to mind, reaching out for the mind of the shadow attacking Uragum. If it has one.
Mind sliver (cantrip) - Int save vs DC 13. If it fails it takes 5 psychic damage and must subtract 1d4 from the next saving throw it makes before the end of my next turn.
OOC: I think the characters would be able to logically make a guess at that without having to make a check. These are creatures of darkness, therefore, etc.
Those damage rolls are all so low, oh my...
Hex's aim is true, but as the arrow passes through the darkness enveloping Uragum, it barely seems to notice. Nor does the goliath's magic take much effect when the lightning from his fists seems dull as it spreads throughout the shadow. Both the shadows near Hex and Uragum pass through each of them, slowly draining their energy and sapping their strength. Uragum begins to feel his body growing very heavy, as if hundred pounds weights are attached to each of his limbs. Briny feels some form of intelligence, enough to reach out into the mind of the shadow assaulting Uragum, but it doesn't slow in the least despite being affected by her psychic energies.
In his wild shape form, Sylyra leaps at the shadow, but it dissipates and reforms around him, weakening the form of the dog and his hold on the shape.
Round 2 Order: Shadows Players <=====
Placement: Hex is engaged in melee combat with a shadow. Sylyra is engaged in melee combat with a shadow. Uragum is engaged in melee combat with a shadow.
Health: Uragum is badly wounded. Briny is lightly wounded. Hex is lightly wounded. Sylyra is lightly wounded.
OOC: Both the damage and the strength reduction to Sylyra occur to his wild shape form, so the dog's STR score is currently a 9 but Sylyra's STR score is as of yet unaffected.

Sylyra is frustrated by his Mastiff shape and decides to retreat. He moves away from the shadows to take a stance by Hex. Unless he is damaged by an attack of opportunity or two and reverts to his elf form because of damage, once he reaches Hex, his form shifts back into his regular shape. He conjures a flame in his palm, and he lobs it at the nearest shadow creature. "Are we in over our heads?" he asks the tiefling.

Feeling satisfaction that her words had some effect Briny tries the same spell again, trying to add more force and precision to her words as she carefully repeats the incantation. She stays where she is, not sure if anywhere else will be as safe.
Mind Sliver: INT save vs DC 13, subtract 1d4, or take 3 psychic damage.
Hex lets out a huff of annoyance as her arrow seems to do barely any damage. Even as one of the shadows approaches her, she stays focused on the one attacking Uragum.
At Sylyra's question, she gives him a grin. "I'm sure we'll be fine. There's only 3 of them, this'll be easy.... knock on wood. We just need to focus our attacks and bring them down one by one."
Uragum, slumped over from exhaustion flails about with his arms. "Need to... step away... so tired..." he huff out stumbling about as he tries to put some distance between him and the shodowy figures.
OOC: I don't see a target mentioned for Briny's mind sliver, so I'm assuming the same target as last time (the shadow attacking Uragum).
Sylyra pummels Hex's assailant with flame, but the flames seem to trickle around the creature much like Uragum's previous lightning. Yet, despite the resistance, there is a shimmering and wavering in the shadow's form that reveals some damage as it passes again through Hex, sapping more strength. Sylyra's attacker follows him, but the druid is able to nimbly avoid it for the time being.
Bearing her weakening knees, Hex fires an arrow through Uragum's attacker as he disengages and flees, further pushing through its resistance. To Uragum's chagrin, the shadow outpaces him as he tries to get away, passing through him once more. The goliath stumbles and nearly falls, his once-bulging muscles now hanging sallow as his life is continuously drained. The shadow attacking him shudders visibly as Briny continues to assault whatever remains of its mind.
Round 3 Order: Shadows Players <=====
Placement: All combatants are within movement range. Hex is engaged in melee combat with a shadow. Sylyra is engaged in melee combat with a shadow. Uragum is engaged in melee combat with a shadow.
Health: The shadow attacking Uragum is wounded. The shadow attacking Hex is lightly wounded.
Uragum is severely wounded. Hex is badly wounded. Briny is lightly wounded. Sylyra is lightly wounded.
"I'm not sure Uragum is going to be fine," Sylyra hisses to Hex. He grabs his staff in both hands, quickly casting magic over the wooden weapon. Even as the motes are still falling from the misteltoe tied to the end, the elf swings his now-magical staff at the nearest shadow.

Hex almost drops to one knee as the shadow passes through her as well. "Okay, I lied. Urgh, I don't think I'll be fine either." She thinks to follow in Uragum's lead for a moment, wanting to get as far from the shadow as possible, but watching it catch up to him easily, she realises it's useless. Instead, she looks between Sylyra and the shadow and lets out a sigh, staying in place and keeping the shadow's attention on her instead of him. In a last ditch effort, she casts Cure Wounds on herself. "Get back Sylyra! If I drop, its going after you first."

Briny feels a bit desperate, seeing her strong companions reduced so quickly. She reaches once more for the remainder of her arcane strength and the chaotic energy that served her so well just earlier today.
Cast Chaos Bolt on the same shadow she has targetted before: Attack - 22 for potentially 12 fire damage
OOC: Uragum's chromatic orb would be at disadvantage since it is a ranged attack made at an opponent in melee range, but it missed regardless with the original roll so same result either way.
Sylyra's mind is filled with an otherworldly howl as he casts his staff through the shadow in front of him. The mystical energy surrounding the staff carves through the shadow in a way that other weapons have not, and seemingly greatly displeased, it rushes toward the elf, but too slowly to catch him as he spins to the side. Hex successfully maneuvers away from her opponent as she pours healing energy into herself.
Uragum, looking on in his weakened state as the shadow moves in toward him once more, launches a vicious flame toward the creature, which separates to allow the orb, along with Briny's incoming magical bolt, to pass harmlessly through it. The shadow reforms to the side of the goliath, hungry for more of his life force.

Uragum is severely wounded. Hex is lightly wounded. Briny is lightly wounded. Sylyra is lightly wounded.
Completely drained of other energy, Briny turns her focus back to the mind of the Shadow that she has been focusing on the whole time. She hopes that it won't take much more to stop it and give Urugam some reprieve.
Mind sliver: INT save vs DC 13 or take 1 Psychic damage and subtract 1d4 from the next saving throw before the end of my next turn.

Sylyra feels a little emboldened by the creature's howl, but still turns a concerned glance on Uragum to see how the goliath is doing. Not liking what he sees, the elf swings his magically-charged weapon at the same shadow creature while chanting a quick spell. Once finished, he throws out his arm in Uragum's direction. A transparent shape of some kind of creature appears right next to the wizard, shimmering and wavering a bit. "Move through that!" Sylyra yells.
Attack: 13 Damage: 8 magical bludgeoning
Bonus: healing spirit beside Uragum so he can move through it without disengaging from the shadow attacking him, but on the side of the others in case they want to take advantage of it as well - any ally can move through it and heal 1d6 - will heal up to 5 times before being used up
OOC: You're right, I usually roll right when the wild shape happens, I forgot this time.
Sylyra-Dog HP: 9
